This was our first stop on Father's Day weekend for a family brunch in what used to be a delicious fish restaurant called herringbone that I patronized 8 years ago with my family as well. Arrived and waited on the reservation line versus the I'm too cool to make a reservation line right next to me that stretched around the fucking place, and was seated in the lovely patio, pretty much where I was at 8 years ago... sorry I'm a bit sentimental and nostalgic that'll be the end of that. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was to die for. The shrimp was better than high-end seafood restaurants the Grits were cooked perfectly so buttery and delicious. The blueberry puree pancakes were also very good they tasted delicious and the pancakes had a rich buttermilk flavor. The hybrid croissant breakfast sandwich was also perfect such a cool looking round bread that was a croissant texture and taste with delicious egg and bacon inside. My son ate poke and loved it. The only item that was not up to par was the waffle as usual wherever I order this came out cold and soggy. If you have read my previous reviews at other places with waffles you wonder at this point why I even bother because I have eternal hope that I will have one crispy fucking waffle in my lifetime served hot before I croak. I'm still waiting. But definitely this is not enough to deter a star it was just a delicious meal and a very enjoyable View to boot. My husband ordered the leek and mushroom omelet which was just BURSTING with fungus I was almost jealous. I ordered the eggs Benny (as is my usual breakfast go-to). My only gripe were the "hashbrowns." There aren't enough crispy parts to the volume of soft potato. I like my potato's CRUNCHY. These weren't it for me. Service was great. Even with our reservation, there was a line for that, and the line for those without one were even longer! It was very busy, and you have the choice of inside or outside seating. For speed, we went with inside. Our server was great! It was really busy so he was flying throughout that place. I ordered their iced latte and the blueberry pancakes. The latte was a tall glass with lots of ice, so it wasn't too much coffee. The pancakes were a very good portion size, but were pretty mid, especially for the price. Service, both our normal server and the person bringing our waters and drinks, were great! Very fast and really nice! They have a flight of mimosas that looked delicious. The service was ok, very slow. We took 2 hrs just because of how slow everything was. I think this took away from the in person experience which was more of a 3 stars. Their portion sizes are big and definitely shareable. I wish our server would've warned us as the hotel doesn't have a microwave in the room so no leftovers. The chilaquiles are delicious and an absolute MUST! The steak was cooked perfectly. The chips do get soggy because of the salsa but I loved it. The poached eggs were perfect too. My bf got the Dutch pancake with arugula and prosciutto. It was good but could've been better. Mark, the outstanding young manager, saved the day. I was hosting a group of Noir tier guests here for the BTS concert and we found ourselves looking for an outstanding brunch at Salt & Ivy, but without a reservation. Despite the crowds, due to the concert, Knights game, and the holiday weekend, Mark got seated immediately. The food and service were impeccable, and despite the temperature being on the high 90's, our table in the outside courtyard was extremely comfortable. I have no idea how they were able to make the outside temperature a low 70s on a day approaching 100. Just get to Salt & Ivy, especially if you have special guests in town. I had their Southern Style Grits while my friends had the House Salmon & Bagel and West Coast Cheesesteak. My Southern Style Grits are delicious. It came with Candied Bacon and Cajun shrimps. Had the Steak & Eggs for breakfast and everything was delicious. Loved the grilled tomatoes, chimichurri sauce and the block hash brown. All had great flavor and was perfect. The espresso martini here was not my favorite as it was pretty sweet and the espresso used in it did not seem high end, but all good. Chris was our attentive and friendly server who was the nicest person we met in Vegas during this hectic holiday weekend. We started out with beautifully flaky croissants which I highly recommend. Our main dishes were all shared family style among the group so we had a taste of everything. Avocado toast had a creamy texture on top of a walnut tumeric flavored bread (blech) that had a cake-like texture. This was my least favorite dish. The goat cheese was off-putting with the pesto and avocado. There were too many ingredients that did not complement each other at all-- 1 star. Here are the highlights: 1) Lobster roll with Cajun seasoned French fries. Added a squeeze of lemon and this was absolutely delicious-- huge chunks of mouthwatering, sweet lobster lightly coated in mayonnaise inside of a toasted bun.. I would definitely get this again. The fries were also perfection-- 5 stars 2) Cobb salad had thinly sliced apple and pomegranate seeds that added a refreshing crunch. I've had a lot of Cobb salads but this was so light, healthy and unexpectedly delicious. There were small crumbles of blue cheese-- just enough to provide that Cobby essence. Topping it off was a well-balanced apple vinaigrette which I think was made from fresh apples-- 5 stars. 3) The Southern Style Grits with thick chunks of bacon (wow, so good) and plump, juicy shrimp nestled in cheesy grits was so delightful. I personally preferred to add a little salt and pepper on top, and then it was just right. I loved the multiple combinations of flavors you could create in each bite. The tiny maple pecans (?) that garnished the dish were an added bonus-- 5 stars. I would suggest passing on the Dutch Baby. It was bland and we hardly ate it--1 star. Reservations are a must!
