Day out in Tiburon, brought us here for brunch. My youngest son ordered the Marin Bagel, as I didn't notice it comes with Gina Marie cream cheese, he was not a fan. This is not your typical store bought cream cheese from the taste to texture. But to my surprise they served this. It's just pure cultured milk, cream, and salt and is actually pretty good and I prefer this over any store brand. You can't get a better tasting cream cheese. To drink we decided on Mojitos, the bar tender must be new or lied on his application because this was a horrible margarita. The server was nice enough to take them off the bill as we didn't take no more than two sips. Santa Fe omelet was pretty bland but did ask for a side of salsa and this gave it a little more flavor. Veggie omelet was the same. Lacking seasoning in the eggs nothing to exciting was more of a $7 priced breakfast then a $17. Over all just two omelets and bad drinks. read more

Met up with an old chef buddy who had recently sold his French Bakery/Bread company. It was Veterans Day and our first choice was closed. So we walked a bit around the corner and came upon a nicely bustling Salt & Pepper. Its menu was a kind of meld of standard American burger/seafood/steak casual and classic French options. Alain ordered an Eggs Benedict. I had a burger medium w fries, not a difficult dish to put out. The waiter made a point of asking the temp on the burger, so I thought it was a serious question. The Benedict looked fine and Alain had no problem putting it away. My burger was dry - well done - but otherwise fine. Good brioche bun, fresh onion, tomato, etc. Fries were good. Unimpressed by the lunch entree, and wanting to hang out longer, we got dessert: apple pie a la mode for me, creme brûlée for him. The brûlée looked fine. The pie was good but clearly not a from scratch deal. The filling was overly sweet, resembling pre-mades I've had plenty of times. Good ice cream, heavily laced with vanilla bean. Oh, backing up for a second: my IPA was a good reco by the waiter as well. At $20 + for the burger, $14 for each dessert, it felt like there was a missing value proposition. They didn't seem to have made a note of my reservation when I called over a week in advance, but it wasn't busy, thankfully, at 11:30 AM on Father's day. They get 5 stars because the food, coffee, and service was impeccable. We sat outside, so the ambiance was chill, with lots of sunshine and dogs. We had a half-caf latte and a decaf cappuccino, both were perfect. The crab avocado toast was pretty good, and the side salad was nice, but we enjoyed our other two dishes more: the prosciutto arugula Benedict, which was absolutely perfect, and the buckwheat crepes with lingonberries, which was nice and light, though maybe a little too light on the lingonberries. Intimate and lovely inside with the back wall mirror that makes the room feel twice as big. Service was great. They gave us recommendations for foodand drink (delicious strawberry mimosa). Originally we had plans to eat at Sam's across the street but there was a mob outside on Friday right before opening. A little surprising, if you ask me. We did think to stick it out but after reading some of their reviews on Yelp, we thought to look elsewhere. Enter Salt & Pepper. When we walked up, we noticed that it was pretty empty so we asked for a table outside. We were tersely told no outside tables without a reservation. But it was empty? And Friday at noon? Were all the tables really booked? When we tried to ask how long the wait would be we were interrupted and "reminded" that there would be no seating without reservation. It was pretty rude to be honest. But we were persistent and asked again and when she tried to interject again, my dad had to raise his voice to get the question through (how long would a wait be without a reservation?). She huffs off and a few minutes later she returns and tells us a table will be ready in a few minutes. ?????!! Okay....?! Luckily after this exchange, everything else went smoothly and we enjoyed a very nice brunch. For the table, we split the seared scallops salad. They cut the sea scallops in half but they do give maybe 2.5 scallops worth of meat so it's not a huge loss. The spicy arugula paired well with the fresh sweet grilled corn and the cherry tomatoes. The dressing was a lemon vinaigrette with a touch of truffle oil. It was delicious and very summer appropriate! For my main, I had the gravlox benedict which featured smoked salmon. One of my poached eggs was a little over done and more jammy than runny but the other was perfect! I liked the pairing with smoked salmon and the salty bite from the capers. The meal was served with hashbrowns and S&P does it right. Nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. My brother had the crab benedict which featured pieces of dungeness crab. It was actually meaty chunks and not just shredded crab - nice! Mom had the fish tacos which featured sea bass and it was wonderfully buttery - definitely an upgrade to basic fish tacos. Dad had a plate of clams which was very generous and served with 2 slices of housemade garlic bread. Seemed like more bread would have been nice to dip up all the juice. All in all brunch and drinks cost us just over $150 with tip. Considering every dish featured some kind of seafood, it was a pretty fair on pricing. read more

We came here with my fiancé's parents before taking the Tiburon ferry over to Angel Island. We appreciated the covered outdoor seating in the back with some jade plants and other foliage. Service was great, our server even took photos for us to capture the moment. Food was mediocre though. Service 4 stars, food 2 stars. Seafood stew- not impressed, noodle texture was too soft, not enough flavor in broth. Seafood was okay, nothing special. Clam chowder- very milky and light broth, a different take on clam chowder, less heavy. We liked it, the onion and celery had a nice crunch, and on a warmer day this is good (vs a tradition clam chowder with a thick rich broth). Crab sandwich- was okay, a bit heavy on the mayo, small and light on crab. Came with sweet potato fries which was needed since the sandwich was small. Crab cakes- nice outer fry. We visited twice. Once for lunch and another time to pick up a quick dessert. For lunch we ordered steak tacos and steamed clams. The steak tacos were on a soft corn tortilla. They were filled with steak cubes and a nice pico de gallo salsa. The plate also came with a very bright salad. It was packaged nicely and traveled well. Our clams were flavorful. They came with a garlic topped, grilled bread. I wasn't able to try the bread, but my husband said it was delicious. I would have preferred if the clams had come in a lidded container vs a cardboard box, but we did not have problems. On another visit, we tried the crème brûlée to go. It's prepared in a ramekin, and they somehow nudged it out of the ramekin and into a to-go container, while keeping it looking beautiful. It was rich and creamy! I was really surprised on how fast we were seated on Mother's Day and the staff is very friendly. We also discovered that you can bring your 4 legged family member with you. Came to Tiburon for a day hike and stopped by here for brunch. We had our dog with us, so we sat outside. We ordered the clam chowder, tuna tartare, and ribeye steak with eggs. I also ordered a cappuccino. The clam chowder was my favorite out of the items we ordered, it wasn't the typical thick clam chowder, but rather a thinner consistency. I actually enjoyed that! It was different, tasted fresh and had clams on top too. The tuna tartare was more like a poke, I was expecting the tuna to be more minced, but it was in large chunks. The hostess was sweet and helpful. The waiter was kind and hilarious. We got our dessert quickly and believe you me, they didn't last long! Crème brûlée: was breath taking. The strawberries add so much to the dessert. I personally am not a fan of strawberries but it was PERFECT with this dessert. Chocolate soufflé: was AMAZING! It was a brownie on steroids.
