My favorite Salt & Straw location!!! I'm from Cali so I've pretty much tried all of the Salt & Straws there and realized depending on the region (LA vs SF) there are different signature flavors! So I was super excited about trying the signature flavors in Seattle!! Immediately what got my attention from the menu was the Ellenos Greek Yogurt and Matcha because I love green tea ice cream and I wondered how the greek yogurt would go with it (like a play on tart and bitter foods.) I love their super exotic flavors and almost always get the monthly rotating flavors rather than the standard ones. Good location, cute shop, unique flavors! A must stop location for everyone. Tried the Salted Carmel Turkey, it was pretty good, very salty and you can taste the turkey skin in the ice cream. The turkey is caramelized in toffee, so you won't be grossed out! They masked it so well, their thanksgiving series looks amazing. Only complaint is the ice cream melted quick. It already looked melted when he scoped it into the cup, I don't know if that's normal with their ice cream, please check out my photos I took right after I paid, you can see it was already melted. This ice cream shop has your normal typical flavor, but also some seasonal ice cream. For example, they have a "dracula blood" flavor ice cream which contains pork blood as an ingredient. We order this ice cream and it tasted very blood strong. We also ordered their lavender flavored ice cream and that was much better tasting than the blood ice cream. If you purchase ice cream here, you have the option of whether to have it in a standard open lid cup, waffle bowl or cone. My party felt this place was a bit overrated even though there was a line out the door. In terms of pricing, this place is a bit overpriced, but I guess that city life for you. The meyer lemon with blueberries actually surprised me because i thought it would be more of a sour, refreshing taste, but it was actually quite creamy and yummy! The goat cheese marionberry habanero was definitely the creamiest of them all, and kind of tasted like eating sweet goat cheese, and you couldn't really taste habanero at any point. The strawberry and coconut water sherbet was super refreshing and was a nice contrast to the creaminess of the other ice creams. I ended up going simple with one scoop of the Honey Lavender - it's DELICIOUS. If you're a lavender fan at all you have to give it a try. Hands down the best lavender ice cream I've ever had. I also gave the Ellenos & Matcha a try - the matcha didn't come through enough for me but the yogurt ribbons that are in the ice cream are delicious. My boyfriend absolutely loved like ALL of their ice cream and got 4 scoops - the Strawberry Balsamic, Raspberry Ginger Beer, Coffee & Whiskey, and Beecher's Cheese. I was a big fan of the Coffee & Whiskey because it really just tasted like a coffee ice cream, and surprisingly, the Beecher's Cheese & Toffeenut. Yum! This is what ice cream should be. It's creative AND it's good. Creamy. Rich. Full of flavor. A symphony of good tastes in your mouth. The only drawback is the price, which is high. The standard flavors are here, but look beyond that. The creative ideas and flavors are unique and amazing. There's a base set of creative flavors that are always here, but there are also seasonal ones that change fairly frequently. That list is even more creative (ice cream that tastes like a bowl of Lucky Charms, anyone? But that flavor will probably be gone by the time you read this). They also make local flavors unique to each market they are in. The Seattle unique flavors are interesting and tasty, especially the one with Beecher's Cheese. I am happy to see them support some of the craft food makers in WA State. It's great that they even sell some of these products alongside their ice cream. But I do think they could be a little more creative in their Seattle flavors. The local flavors in Los Angeles and Portland are definitely more unique and intriguing than the Seattle ones. The crowds and long lines of the "new place" have subsided a bit, at least at certain times of the day. This is amazing ice cream (probably the best in the region), but I certainly wouldn't stand in a long line (say more than 10 to 15 minutes long) for this or any ice cream. If you come here and there is a long line, just go to the cooler on the left and pick up a pint. Then go to checkout directly and buy that pint and a few cones.
