My friend and I came in after boiling outside and this hit the spot! Salt & Straw has fast service, kind employees, and unique flavors that are delicious! I had a wonderful time trying different flavors and combos. The inside didn't have a lot of seating, but was very historic and inviting on the inside. I hopefully come back again before I leave Seattle, otherwise I will be dreaming of this ice cream again and again in Illinois
This place had the most interesting ice cream flavors I've ever seen. We got lots of samples, and some of the best ones were the huckleberry oat crisp with porcini, which sounds super weird, but was very good. Another good one was the strawberry pretzel salad. I didn't get the marionberry goat cheese habanero flavor, but I tried it, and it was actually spicy. I'd give this place a shot.
Salt & Straw is one of those places that's actually worth the line. The flavors are creative and fun. And Five stars to any place that lets my dog participate in dessert too.
I can't believe I've never written a review for this place! I've gone to this location probably 20 times in the last few years. The staff is always super friendly and helpful! My favorite regular flavor is the salted and malted one, but this time around I tried the pots of gold and rainbows seasonal flavor! They always have very interesting monthly flavors and this one was delicious. Not too sweet and I think they have the best waffle cones anywhere! It's of course a super cute spot with a good amount of seating if you want to eat there, indoor and outdoor. It can get really busy, but they have really worked out their line system and I've never waited more than like 20 mins.
It was a nice day on Pike and decided to treat myself to some ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant so I checked on line to see if they had either non dairy options. They had two. Hazelnut Cookies & Cream or Strawberry Coconut Water Sorbet. Choices, choices. I went with Strawberry Coconut Water Sorbet. You wouldn't think it but the Strawberry Coconut Water Sorbet had less of a coconut flavor than the Hazelnut Cookies & Cream on the back end. I'm not a fan of a heavy coconut flavor for non dairy ice creams. It was so good the container was my dinner.
I've lived above salt & straw for 4 years and recommend it as a place to stop by every month or two. The rotating menu is best during the Christmas menu (the Thanksgiving menu often falls short). Big fan of the creative flavors--always fun to stop in and try some of the more unusual ones (pickles???). Staff is always very patient and friendly, and interior is quaint but clean.
A local friend had recommended this ice cream place to us a few times, so we finally decided to give the U Village location a try. We shared one of their hot fudge brownie sundaes--I can't remember the exact name--and the portion was easily big enough for two people. The ice cream and brownie combination was a nice treat, but overall it was way too sweet for our taste, especially with the hot fudge and all the toppings together. Service was friendly and the shop had a fun, casual atmosphere. While we probably wouldn't order the same sundae again, we'd definitely come back to try some of their regular ice cream scoops.
Came here during the opening week of this location, and I left pretty disappointed. There was one staff member who spent most of his time flirting with customers and only offering samples to these two girls that he found attractive. I am not saying that I am owed special treatment, but at least acknowledge my presence -- Adam and I waited almost 15 minutes just to sample the limited-edition Thanksgiving flavors. I eventually had to reach out to a different staff member to help me... Another issue was the lack of transparency with charges. I ordered a milkshake and chose pistachio milk with whipped cream because they asked if I wanted it. I normally do not like whipped cream, but I figured, "Why not?"...I was not told it cost extra, only to find it added $0.75. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice to know beforehand so customers could make an informed decision. Aside from the sampler guy, the rest of the staff were actually very kind and did not make me feel bad for customizing my order. The shop was also very clean, which I appreciated. However, I was surprised there was no bathroom on-site -- you have to go to Pike Place Market instead. Since this is downtown, I feel like they should put up a sign so customers do not come in with the assumption that there is a restroom available. Now, on the bright side! The chocolate milkshake with pistachio milk was incredible. It reminded me of a Dubai-style chocolate drink -- rich, layered, and super duper smooth!!! chose three ice cream flavors (coffee, hazelnut, and chocolate chip cookie dough), and the combo was too good for my own good. I finished it in three minutes, which is wild because I am usually the type who holds and sips on their drink throughout the entire day.
Such a festive red store front, perfect for the holiday. It is so eye catching. NEW LOCATION: pike place. Actually right across from pike place entrance. Seating: indoor and outdoor. Parking: well, it is in downtown Seattle and by pike place. There's a bunch of pay parking lots surrounding the area. It is always a challenge in downtown Seattle. They just opened a week ago, so it is still kinda empty. But they have their holiday Thanksgiving flavour are out. Yay. The girl that helped us was super duper nice. Thank you whoever you are. Can't wait for their Christmas flavours.
Salt & Straw in Seattle never disappoints :) They let you taste flavors before you pick, which is awesome, and they always come up with unique, new options. Some of my favorites are Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Honey Lavender, Birthday Cake and Blackberries - so good every time. Definitely a must for ice cream lovers!

I tried one of Salt and Straws limited edition flavors. I tasted the Tomato Gelato, but it tasted odd so I had the Melon and Prosciutto. It only had bits of prosciutto in it so it really had no prosciutto flavor. It just tasted like melon. lt's about $7 for one scoop. Wow Pricey! Could buy a whole quart of ice cream at the grocery for that.
I tried Salt & Straw for the first time in LA a few years ago so was excited when I found one in Seattle so I had to go and see if it was as good as I remembered. Spoiler alert- it was. They have such fun flavors that we got to try but ultimately I went with the strawberry tres leches and YUM! HIGHLY recommend trying it out before it rotates out. When we arrived, the line was out the door but luckily it was a nice night and it moved fairly quickly. Inside, there is not much seating so you should plan on taking your ice cream to go.

Came around mid afternoon on a weekday and there was no line! Appreciated the unlimited samples and unique flavors. We got one of their seasonal vanilla custard flavors which was good. Limited indoor seating but was enough for the handful of people that rolled through around this time! Bathroom available for customers with code. read more
There's a Salt & Straw near our house in L.A. so we were aware of the brand, and after dinner in Seattle while on vacation our nephew and his partner suggested we go here for dessert, which was about a 3 block walk from the restaurant. At around 9pm there were about 15-20 people in line, so people here must love it. Gina, the lady who got our ice cream, was helpful and friendly, let me wife have a few tastes before choosing what she liked best. We both got a single scoop and both really liked the ice cream, which at $6.50 a fair price. There were 6 of us and we were all able to sit down inside (no tables, just benches) and enjoy our ice cream. Not being sure of exactly where in the city it is, it appeared that maybe 70% of the people getting ice cream on a Sunday night were mid-20s to mid-30s. read more

I have seen Salt & Straw in various cities that I have visited, but I have never managed to make it into one. That changed this time when we felt like a sweet treat after having pizza near this spot. The employee who helped us was a saint and let us try a variety of flavors (some are super wacky!) before landing on our selections. I opted for one scoop, halved, with both a salty caramel number and a Halloween special that had a variety of candies mixed into a salted butterscotch ice cream, known as The Great Candycopia. I had my ice cream served in a waffle cone bowl and it was heavenly. Though this shop has fairly minimal seating inside, there are benches outside that would make for a comfy place to enjoy ice cream on a mild day. We really enjoyed the ice cream we had here! The waffle bowls were top tier and the ice cream was excellent. We would not hesitate to return. read more
Finally made it to Salt & Straw to try their ice cream. It seems that they are quite popular and there was a long line when I entered. Their flavors are unique and interesting, from Green Apple Wasabi Sorbet, to Olive Oil. The Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper was really good. After seeing the unique flavors of Salt & Straw on social media, we knew we had to stop by when in the area. Well worth the stop! Their limited edition flavors were all related to beer. Both were high quality - rich and creamy. Russian River's Supplication Ale w/ Manchego - Dark Supplication Ale fudge swirled with manchego cheese and tart cherry marmalade - The combination of fudge, manchego, and cherry kept us coming back for more. It gave us the classic fudge, acidity from the cheese, and the tartness/fruitiness from the cherry. La Tropical's La Original Lager w/ Guava - Refreshingly tropical ice cream with notes of honey and guava flan - We loved the texture and flavor within this ice cream. The guava was light while still coming through clearly and the crunch gave it the extra oomph we were looking for. read more
Salt & Straw serves the best quality ice cream. The location is always popping and I can see why. It's also open late so my craving for ice cream can be satisfied. Sometimes the lines can be long but it goes by pretty fast. It's a fun spot to chill out and just enjoy some ice cream. They have a huge selection of flavors, from classics to unique one of a kind flavors. There's something for everyone's palate. I love that they have a seasonal menu that changes every month. I always make it a routine to stop by to try the new and interesting flavors, especially during the festive months. There's complimentary samples and they don't limit you so it's awesome to be able to try something first. The employees are kind to accommodate any questions. I visited Salt & Straw in Seattle, WA on Monday, 6/10/24, around 10 PM. During my visit, I decided to order a milkshake. I customized it adding a total of three different ice cream flavors: 1) Chocolate Gooey Brownie 2) Double Fold Vanilla & 3) Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The entire combination was divine and delightful. I truly enjoyed the milkshake. The staff members were pleasant and kind. The shop was busy, however, the line moved quickly. The inside of the establishment was clean and welcoming. Overall, Salt & Straw did not disappoint with the milkshake. There was even a huge variety of ice cream flavors available for everyone. A delightful ice cream parlor that's definitely worth visiting at least once--especially for its inventive and unique flavors. Flavors tried: Salted Caramel, Cookie Dough, Peach & Blue Cheese. Verdict: * The Salted Caramel was rich, smooth, and thoroughly enjoyable. * The Cookie Dough was decent--satisfying, though not particularly memorable. * The surprise standout was the Peach & Blue Cheese. Initially, I was hesitant due to the boldness of blue cheese, but it turned out to be absolutely delicious and truly one of a kind. One of the best aspects of this place is that they encourage sampling--you can try as many flavors as you'd like, which makes exploring their more adventurous offerings a lot of fun. The vibe and ambience are friendly and welcoming, making the experience all the more enjoyable. My friend and I stopped by Salt & Straw since she was craving ice cream a couple Monday evenings ago. Their limited edition flavors looked amazing, so we both got a scoop of the following: MÉTIER'S BLACK STRIPE PORTER & BREAD PUDDING I love the crunchy toffee bits in the ice cream mixed with the bread pudding and coconut based ice cream. Everything just went so well together. A bit too sweet, but for this combination, I didn't mind. MONKISH'S SPACE COOKIES AND CREAMY HAZY IPA This one was really interesting. We both loved the fresh grapefruit flavor and the overall texture/flavor reminded us of a cream soda. The vanilla wafer cookie butter was a good complement. I don't know where they get these names, lol, but both scoops were super good and I'd recommend trying if they're still available. The scoops here are pretty sizable, too. Salt & Straw remains one of my favorite ice cream chains in the west coast. read more

I was in Seattle for an overnight stay. I had a craving for vegan ice cream and googled places. Salt and straw came up. It was a 30 min walk. Uphill. In the rain. But I really wanted ice cream. I got there and the line was out the door. When it got to my turn the server didn't make me feel rushed at all. Didn't even judge when I asked for 3 scoops. I got a pup cup for my cat. On my walk home I realized one of my ice creams wasn't the one I ordered. It didn't matter it was still amazing! Walking around the next morning and I found another salt and straw a block from my hotel. I went back to get the flavor I wanted the night prior. Again it was wonderful! And I usually eat pretty clean and healthy and these were that good I had to go back. Highly recommend, quality great tasting product and friendly helpful staff at both stores I visited read more
The service was amazing, there was a long line today and the lady let me know I can take my time try out as many flavors as I'd like which made me feel a lot better! I definitely felt rushed because of the line and busy store but the employees made me feel less rushed and more welcomed! I love the strawberry honey balsamic flavor but my favorite seasonal flavor is the Gonanas ice cream with banana bread & strawberry jam! I love salt and straw, their ice cream is always thick and delicious. Always has variety of flavors and friendly staff that will let you sample until you decide. Among other locations, they usually will have a good waffle cone smell but this particular place reeks of hobo, eventually lost my appetite after getting to the cash register had to eat somewhere else. read more
I feel so lucky to have such yummy icecream close to me!! I love coming into salt & straw because they're constantly rotating flavors into the most special combinations. Despite churning out new flavors so often, the quality is always there and i've always had a good experience! I tried two of their most recent "may flowers" series in a split scoop which were jasmine milk tea almond stracciatella and spinach cake ($8). The flavors were both light and I love chunks in my icecream so they were both so good. But my favorite will always remain the honey lavender!!! This is definitely a solid place when i'm feeling like having a sweet treat or even to take visitors to! I also love that samples are encouraged and the workers are proactive about asking when you're still in line to get you ready to order! read more

Really not sure how I feel about a lot of the flavors here. They are very unique and cool, but honestly a lot of them just didn't work for me. I think it was mostly the textures that made it difficult for me to enjoy. Luckily the person behind the counter let me sample multiple different flavors and I could figure that out before deciding on a final flavor to order. I loved how they had reusable mini spoons as actual silverware to sample with, and a cute little chute to return them back to in the counter. Very sustainable! I ended up getting a split scoop of the cinnamon snickerdoodle and the salted caramel ribbon. The cinnamon snickerdoodle had a bit too much grittiness for me but the flavor was great. The salted caramel ribbon was perfect and next time I would probably just get that alone. They also have many flavors they rotate out seasonally, so you could always come back and try something new later. Very very unique flavor and food combos in these ice creams. They are really going out on a limb with these ones. The inside was also decorated very nicely, I liked it. read more

The seasonal flavors for May were delicious! The pistachio saffron and rose water flavor was my favorite - the cake inside was super moist; Jasmine milk tea and chocolate almond stracciatella was delicious as well. Obviously, the store smelled amazing and was quite busy on a Tuesday after dinner. Most of the seating inside was taken. The service was very friendly as always. Only posting about the awful customer service received. I love Salt and Straw and go to this location since it's the closest to me. I went last night around 9pm. It wasn't too busy, only one party in front of us. The girl helping us was so rude for no reason. She kept asking us to repeat ourselves when we were speaking loudly enough, rolled her eyes when we asked for samples even though we asked for one each and i was with one other person, and was not interning when we were ordering (ig. we asked for a cup and then asked). I understand service jobs can be emotionally taxing but being straight up rude? I'm kinda scared to go back if the employees are gonna be rude and all i want is ice cream. read more
Limited seating. Dark ambiance with some dull yellow lighting. Was pretty busy on a Wednesday night. All the seats were taken. There was a short line. I enjoyed the ice cream flavor I got, which was the sea salt w/ caramel ribbons. I love the mixture of salty and sweet. I also tried the gooey brownie flavor was good as well. I think i feel very neutral about this place. I have tried this place in Portland about 5 to 6 yrs ago. I tried at the kirkland location. I just think some things can stay simple and don't have to be so unique and different such as ice cream. I tried the Parker roll and it's fine. I tried pumpkin and tiramisu. It was but bitter and not creamy at all. I didn't care for it. I feel like trendy is being unique and I just don't feel it. I would rather have Winegar's in Ellensburg where it's fresh milk used from a farm nearby and creamery taste with basic enough flavors. read more

It's never too cold for ice cream. Stopped by here for a quick ice cream run after lunch and wanted to check out their seasonal flavors. I sampled a few of their ice cream creations and decided to get the mom's mango pie. It was so good! It tasted like an actual mango pie without being too tart. I really love eating ice cream at this location especially sitting by the window and watching people pass by. Definitely a nice location in Cap hill for ice cream fix. read more
A friend who's been living in Seattle for work took us to Salt & Straw because it's quite popular there. As a New Yorker, delicious ice cream is always within reach so I was looking for more than just a yummy treat. Salt & Straw had that extra zing: creativity. They had some out-of-the-world flavors (limited editions) on their menu, which was right up my sister's alley because she's always choosing the weirdest flavors. I'm fortunate enough to have sampled some but I stuck with something a bit more basic: honey lavender. It was yum! There are no chairs but you can stand by the window to enjoy the ice cream; there's a bar table there. read more

There's street parking around the area, but I would suggest taking the bus so that you can also explore Capitol Hill as well
