I tried one of Salt and Straws limited edition flavors. I tasted the Tomato Gelato, but it tasted odd so I had the Melon and Prosciutto. It only had bits of prosciutto in it so it really had no prosciutto flavor. It just tasted like melon. lt's about $7 for one scoop. Wow Pricey! Could buy a whole quart of ice cream at the grocery for that.
I can't believe I've never written a review for this place! I've gone to this location probably 20 times in the last few years. The staff is always super friendly and helpful! My favorite regular flavor is the salted and malted one, but this time around I tried the pots of gold and rainbows seasonal flavor! They always have very interesting monthly flavors and this one was delicious. Not too sweet and I think they have the best waffle cones anywhere! It's of course a super cute spot with a good amount of seating if you want to eat there, indoor and outdoor. It can get really busy, but they have really worked out their line system and I've never waited more than like 20 mins.
It was a nice day on Pike and decided to treat myself to some ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant so I checked on line to see if they had either non dairy options. They had two. Hazelnut Cookies & Cream or Strawberry Coconut Water Sorbet. Choices, choices. I went with Strawberry Coconut Water Sorbet. You wouldn't think it but the Strawberry Coconut Water Sorbet had less of a coconut flavor than the Hazelnut Cookies & Cream on the back end. I'm not a fan of a heavy coconut flavor for non dairy ice creams. It was so good the container was my dinner.
I've lived above salt & straw for 4 years and recommend it as a place to stop by every month or two. The rotating menu is best during the Christmas menu (the Thanksgiving menu often falls short). Big fan of the creative flavors--always fun to stop in and try some of the more unusual ones (pickles???). Staff is always very patient and friendly, and interior is quaint but clean.
Came here during the opening week of this location, and I left pretty disappointed. There was one staff member who spent most of his time flirting with customers and only offering samples to these two girls that he found attractive. I am not saying that I am owed special treatment, but at least acknowledge my presence -- Adam and I waited almost 15 minutes just to sample the limited-edition Thanksgiving flavors. I eventually had to reach out to a different staff member to help me... Another issue was the lack of transparency with charges. I ordered a milkshake and chose pistachio milk with whipped cream because they asked if I wanted it. I normally do not like whipped cream, but I figured, "Why not?"...I was not told it cost extra, only to find it added $0.75. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice to know beforehand so customers could make an informed decision. Aside from the sampler guy, the rest of the staff were actually very kind and did not make me feel bad for customizing my order. The shop was also very clean, which I appreciated. However, I was surprised there was no bathroom on-site -- you have to go to Pike Place Market instead. Since this is downtown, I feel like they should put up a sign so customers do not come in with the assumption that there is a restroom available. Now, on the bright side! The chocolate milkshake with pistachio milk was incredible. It reminded me of a Dubai-style chocolate drink -- rich, layered, and super duper smooth!!! chose three ice cream flavors (coffee, hazelnut, and chocolate chip cookie dough), and the combo was too good for my own good. I finished it in three minutes, which is wild because I am usually the type who holds and sips on their drink throughout the entire day.
Such a festive red store front, perfect for the holiday. It is so eye catching. NEW LOCATION: pike place. Actually right across from pike place entrance. Seating: indoor and outdoor. Parking: well, it is in downtown Seattle and by pike place. There's a bunch of pay parking lots surrounding the area. It is always a challenge in downtown Seattle. They just opened a week ago, so it is still kinda empty. But they have their holiday Thanksgiving flavour are out. Yay. The girl that helped us was super duper nice. Thank you whoever you are. Can't wait for their Christmas flavours.
Salt & Straw in Seattle never disappoints :) They let you taste flavors before you pick, which is awesome, and they always come up with unique, new options. Some of my favorites are Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Honey Lavender, Birthday Cake and Blackberries - so good every time. Definitely a must for ice cream lovers!
Came for their free birthday scoop today and wow was it good! Size and taste certainly exceed expectations. Black berry birthday cake was quite good! There's a good reason why the line is so long. Place did seem understaffed though. One person to scoop and ring up for most of the 20 minutes we were there was definitely not enough imo. Good service though and somewhat limited seating space but ya don't really need to sit to eat ice cream so there's that.
I tried Salt & Straw for the first time in LA a few years ago so was excited when I found one in Seattle so I had to go and see if it was as good as I remembered. Spoiler alert- it was. They have such fun flavors that we got to try but ultimately I went with the strawberry tres leches and YUM! HIGHLY recommend trying it out before it rotates out. When we arrived, the line was out the door but luckily it was a nice night and it moved fairly quickly. Inside, there is not much seating so you should plan on taking your ice cream to go.
This is a bustling Salt & Straw with crowds even late on a freezing night, which is when my friend and I stopped by to try their November seasonal flavors. This location is larger than my local Salt & Straw and had three stations going at once. Each tasting station would work with a group of people at a time, and overall the line moved pretty smoothly. There was also seating inside, which is appreciated given how cold it was. I sampled most of the November specials, thoughts below: Parker house rolls with salted buttercream: This was blander and less bready than I expected. It mostly tasted like a sweet cream ice cream. I would have loved more bread in the ice cream. Maple Koginut squash with pomegranate: this was the clear winner for both me and my friend, and the flavor we ended up getting. It was slightly savory, sweet and tart from the pomegranate, and the ritz crackers added a nice crunch. I liked it so much I ended up getting a pint, which I have never done at Salt & Straw before. Turkey stuffing with cranberry sauce: This was such a strange flavor, it definitely tasted strongly of turkey sausage. The person helping us confirmed that we were ok with meat products before giving us a sample, which I appreciated. Cranberry Orange sorbet: This was very refreshing and fruity. Definitely tasted like a thanksgiving fruit treat. I love trying the monthly specials and am glad I found a hit with the maple koginut flavor.
I absolutely love going to Salt & Straw! You'll probably catch me there almost every month trying out their new seasonal flavors. When I'm not feeling adventurous, I always go back to my classic favorite, the Chocolate Gooey Brownie. Their ice cream definitely leans on the sweeter side, so I usually share a split single scoop with my husband, just enough to hit the spot. The unlimited samples are such a nice perk, the staff is always friendly, and even if there's a line, it moves quickly. Definitely one of my go-to dessert spots after dinner if I'm around Capitol Hill!

Salt and Straw is a lovely ice cream shop located right in the ever popular Cap Hill neighborhood of Seattle. They feature a variety of ice cream flavors ranging from very unique to the standards. This place is set up like your typical ice cream shop - hop in line and wait for it to be your turn. Then you'll be helped at the front by a server where you are also allowed to sample some flavors before you buy. The ice cream is a bit expensive, albeit normal for Seattle prices, but I'd say this one was well worth it. I ordered a single scoop of cookie dough and I was really impressed. The ice cream was creamy, there was a lot of dough mixed in, and it all tasted so fresh. We went at a pretty normal time and there was a long line, but it moved really fast so I wouldn't worry. I feel like Salt and Straw has always just been an okay ice cream shop for me. There's always a line, and they do have some interesting rotating flavors. I typically sample the seasonal ones, but they never seem to be as good as my go-to which is the chocolate gooey brownie. Even then, I feel like I could get better at the grocery store for cheaper. read more
Love salt and straw. This is first time at downtown Seattle location. Nice and quiet and hardly any line. Loads of seating so was a nice change to sit and enjoy inside on a drizzly day in winter. They have all the classics. Favorite is salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough. Seasonal were all vegan. Appreciate they accommodate food allergies but was a bit odd to have all seasonable vegan. Ah well can't complain to have my favorite standard. Salt and straw is also dog friendly so you don't have to stand outside in the rain with your pooch! read more
Stop in after dinner for some dessert. Yes I will still eat ice cream in the cold winter rains. Upon entrance the girl greeted us and to ask her if we had any questions. You are able to sample the falvors before choosing. There is a slot for spoons to be thrown in, which was pretty neat. I ended up getting the good ole chocolate chip mint on a waffel cone. I believe they make their own waffel cone. Pretty decent size cone. The flavor of the mint was very tasty and not artificially flavored. They do offers different special flavors. I've been to salt & straw in WA & CA and it's consistent! The store smells sweet and yummy even from the outside. Seating inside is limited; many people stand around to eat and chat with their ice cream. The chocolate gooey brownie has been my go-to for years and I either order it in a kid's scoop in a cup or waffle cone. The waffle cone can taste good or ok depending on freshness. read more

ICE SCREAM for ICE CREAM! Nobody does ice cream and FUN flavors better than Salt & Straw!!! We've been to most locations from Portland to LA to Downtown Disney to San Diego and it's always consistent. This location doesn't disappoint either! It's October so they've got some very fun flavors. The creepy crawler flavor actually has real crickets in it which is super cool. I went with something more fall-ish and got Jack O'Lantern Pumpkin Bread. It had the right amount of pumpkin and cream cheese frosting and is now my favorite fall flavor! Make sure to get it on their fresh waffle cone and have a sweet scare! read more
Salt and straw has a lot of unique flavour for gelato. The staff was so friendly and let me tried multiple flavours! They have flavours like olive oil which low key reminds me of butter . I've got honey lavender and a pear blue cheese gelatos . Honey lavender is what I expected and pear blue cheese is very unique. There's candies pear in it which makes the texture good. There is a little bit of blue cheese chunk too. I'm not a big fan of blue cheese so I wouldn't recommend it if you detest blue cheese. It wasn't bad overall though, as the pear flavour made up for it. read more

This ice cream chain never cease to amaze me! Sooo many different and unique flavors to choose from! With their seasonal rotating flavors, the shop really grabs the attention of many. The location my group and I went to is located on the corner of E Pike St and Boylston Ave in First Hill. This is one of their busiest locations in Seattle as the line always seems to wrap around the block every night. There's only street parking around the area which could be difficult to find especially on the weekends. My boyfriend and I shared a double scoop in a cup. This time around, we chose to try their Cinnamon Snickerdoodle and Cold Brew Cashew Praline. The scoops were HUGE (peep at the double scoop waffle cone pic). The one we got came in a 16oz cup! Did not expect that at all. The snickerdoodle had a strong cinnamon taste which I didn't really care for, but it brought out the distinct flavor. The cold brew didn't really taste like coffee and the cashews threw me off LOL. Both were very creamy and a great combo that complimented each other! I enjoyed our little after dinner treat! My friends got the Honey Lavender (strong lavender, floral flavor; something I would get tired after a while as I'm not a huge fan of floral treats) and Marionberry (unexpectedly very tarty as I recently had a dessert with sweet marionberry). We didn't go for their crazy flavors this time around but definitely will in the future! Can't wait to see their new seasonal fall flavors soon. read more

TLDR; Exceptional ice cream in a shop with fair prices. Don't let long lines deter you away. As an ice cream lover, Salt & Straw is top tier ice cream! My boyfriend and I came to visit this location as we were craving some late night ice cream during our vacation in Seattle. There is no Salt & Straw locations from we are from, so it was exciting to try! I recommend Salt & Straw to anyone who is a fellow ice cream lover, you'll taste the difference! At first I was intimidated because there was a line out of the door at 10pm while it was 30 degrees out, but they are pretty fast at getting you in and out! The ice cream shop has lots of seats and standing room for you to enjoy your cone! I personally got a double scoop of the chocolate gooey brownie and double fold vanilla in a waffle cone. My boyfriend got a double scoop of honey lavender and double fold vanilla in a waffle cone. The honey lavender is only one of their wacky limited flavors, I would definitely recommend sampling their flavors because they're pretty solid! The actual ice cream itself tasted great. I feel like you can tell it's better quality ice cream because it tasted rich and creamy, their vanilla was the best vanilla ice cream I've had, and so potent! I will miss the Pacific Northwest, they have definitely proved their ice cream is better than some other chains I've tried in the Midwest. read more

I had no idea this place existed and now I don't know how that could be! Amazing place. The staff are welcoming and helpful. It is clean and calming and cheerful in ambiance. The ice cream and waffle cone were second to none. I had the chocolate brownie and mint chocolate chip. Completely different flavors and equally amazing. The richness of the brownie pieces, the decadence of the chocolate creaminess - sublime. Melt on your tongue. The mint chocolate chip with the coconut flavor was tangy and crisp and refreshing. The two were a match made for each other. You get a very good amount of ice cream. It isn't super hyper sweet either - it's just sweet to the palate and creamy. I also had the amazing salted brownie waffle cone. I came back three times in 4 days and I normally allow only a treat occasionally. This seems like it will be my one exception. This is a do not miss regardless of which one you go to (any state). Try it! read more

We walked over here after dinner at Biang Biang Noodles. The line was very fast moving. There were benches outside that we were able to enjoy our dessert on. 5/5 - Wild-Foraged Berry Slab Pie: Wild berry pie filling with pie crust in salted vanilla ice cream. Delicious. 4/5 - Snickerdoodle Cookie: really good 4/5 - Strawberry Honey Balsamic w/ Black Pepper: fun mix of flavors The food came out to 4.3 stars. The ice cream was okay it tasted very regular and their seasonal ice cream flavors weren't the greatest. I had asked for a sample but the female worker was very rude didn't speak up and very hard of hearing. I do miss when they had different flavors for each state, but now it looks like they have condensed the west coast to all the same flavors. Best ice cream in Seattle, hands down. No place ever does it as good for me!!!! My go to is the salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough - if you want the perfect blend of salty and sweet GET THIS. Depending on the time of the year, you might see a line and will have to wait 15 min but so worth the wait and it moves quickly. The staff are so kind and will let you try an endless amount of flavors. Not really much space to sit in the place but I'd recommend taking the ice cream and going to Cal Andersen nearby to enjoy. read more

Salt and straw has quickly become my favorite ice cream spot since moving here. The flavors are rivaled only by local ice cream shops, but they are by far the best ice cream chain I've ever been to. I love the seasonal flavors, especially the fall pumpkin bread. The samples are always generous and service is consistently friendly. The only con is the difficult parking - walk if you can! read more

A cute little ice cream chain that I was dying to try in Seattle. I wouldn't consider Salt & Straw among some of the best ice cream, but I do like the creativity and outside of the box flavors. They've got some really interesting flavor combinations and I like that they switch up the flavors of the month. Three separate scoops of ice cream set me back about $20. That's not cheap by any means and was actually surprising for the small amount that we got. The sea salt with caramel ribbons tasted a little off and gave off a sour taste. The chocolate gooey brownie was quite good, but a little too chewy for my liking. Overall, I love the creativity that Salt & Straw creates with their ice cream. read more

There's something about ice cream on a warm sunny day that hits the spot and salt and straw always hits it extra hard. Line was long as it was a warmer day but it always moves quick. This month I tried their cereal flavors and my favorite by far was the pot of gold and rainbows. It might actually be one of top flavors period! read more

Where is the best place to park on Saturdays?
There's street parking around the area, but I would suggest taking the bus so that you can also explore Capitol Hill as well
