Having just returned from Poland we were excited to try a local spot like this. We went and lunch and there was a party of 20 and we thought OH NO!! but our waitress was on it and the kitchen did a great job getting our order our amongst all of their orders. We had the sampler and the chicken entrees. Both were delicious. I really enjoyed the chicken with the sliced peaches on the top and the cranberry compote. Sadly, not great. 3 stars at best. The service was awful. 90 minute dinners are never cool. The food was bland, and I'm being generous. My Polish grandmother did a better job and she was a terrible cook. Bad service and meh food, not a good combination. Oh well. read more

Oh, how lucky we are to have such a gem in this town! From the second you walk in, you are transported to another country with knickknacks, candles galore and white table cloths. It feels like you are visiting your Polish grans house that just wants to feed to you a delicious meal. And you're in luck! Cause a delicious meal is what's for dinner. The service is top notch! The wait staff is seasoned, kind, professional and helpful. I love seeing the same faces over the years and the food never disappoints. I'm not a beer drinker, and yet, I always go for the Lomza! It just feels right and pairs perfectly with every dish they offer. Warm bread and butter to start. Soft and delicious. A bowl of hardly cabbage soup is always what I get. I can't get enough of it! The food was too pricey, and the ambiance was totally missing. My friends and I went there for lunch last week and we were the only customers. Only one young man was available to serve us. He not only took our orders, but he also made the food (obviously it was premade and heated up), He then served the food and collected payment. Salt & Sweet Restaurant 3092 Lake Washington Rd., Melbourne, FL 32934 5 Stars I know that the Iron Curtain came down a long time ago, however, it took me years to not see Eastern Europe as a bleak, gray, bullet ridden wasteland peopled by hunched over women in scarfs. These days, I see it as a vibrant, colorful area of the Globe with oft-untouched treasures. That said, I do NOT think of fine dining when I think of Poland. I think meat, potatoes, dumplings and cabbage. I wager you do as well. The fare at Salt & Sweet in Melbourne, FL, has shattered that perception. Roxanne is my server today. I found her to be extremely honest and hospitable. She answered all of my questions regarding the menu without hesitation. I ordered a bowl of Tomato soup, a Polish Sampler and one of their Special Polish Dishes, Zrazy Polskie. While awaiting Roxanne's return, I took in the ambiance. I loved the décor and the old-world feel it exuded. The room was so charming that I half-expected someone's Babcia to emerge from the kitchen, berating staff with a cast-iron skillet in hand. Sadly (depending on how you look at it), it was Roxanne and not a loving Babcia who emerged bearing our Polish nutriment. First to grace the Big Boy's palate was the Tomato soup. Unlike some soups, this was not inspissated, but instead had the perfect viscosity for a Tomato soup and the flavor was complex, savory, and extensive in its taste. Next, I turned my attention to the Polish Sampler. This includes Pierogi, Golabki and Polish Sausage. At this time, I insist you look at those pictures. Yes, everything looked delectable. On this platter, the Pierogi are Polish-style and not Russian. These are filled with seasoned, minced meat and topped with sauteed onions. By far, some of the best Pierogi I have scarfed down. Never having had Golabki, I was delightfully surprised by the intricate flavors washing over my tongue. This is a Polish delight of meat-stuffed cabbage rolls topped with tomato sauce. In a word, this was, "Wow." Forcing myself onto the Polish sausage it was robust yet frangible. I turned my utensils on the Zrazy Polskie. This consisted of rolled beef stuffed with bacon, sauteed onions, dill pickles and bell peppers. This is a pretty typical "Gourmet" dish of Eastern Europe. I first encountered its German cousin, Rouladen. This was also out of this world. Everything was prepared with care and love and cooked perfectly. What else can I say? Food that was ordered...delicious and very authentic! I ordered a shrimp cocktail as a starter, and for my entree I ordered a lamb shank with roasted potatoes and red cabbage. Great flavor on the lamb shank, and all else was amazing! Service was awesome! The atmosphere is very cozy and a bit dim on the lighting, but enough to view the menu. Not giving the place the 5th star only because I expected more options for sides, and it seemed kinda warm inside. Other than that, I can say I'd return again and enjoy it! read more

It was our first time here and our first time really trying Polish cuisine so I really don't have anything to compare itit too. With that being said you walk in and the decor and ambience was very nice. We were greeted as we walked in and seated right away. There was 3 of us, we had the duck, the sampler plate and golabki along with the dill pickle soup and had the appetizer escargot. The soup was an amazing treat of flavors. All of the dishes had nice portions and once again flavors that we've never tasted before that makes me wish I'd tried this place years ago. First time here and we were very pleasantly surprised! I had the sampler plate and - wow, soooo good. Started with tomato soup and bread and loved it! Pierogis hot and so good, cabbage roll was tender, hot and delicious, and the roasted potatoes were crispy on the outside and hot and tender on the inside. The polish sausage was grilled and crispy and so juicy. Everyone there was so friendly and attentive. The restaurant was decorated very elegantly and it was just a really nice restaurant for being in a shopping center. We'll definitely be back! read more

We weren't even aware this place existed since it's in a strip mall but we are so glad we discovered it. The inside is not very big but super cute. There was one woman who acted as hostess and server who provided wonderful service and at the end thanked us for our patronage. The service was fantastic. My Polish aunt was in town and having spent some time in Massachusetts enjoying Polish food, I was excited to take her to this restaurant to share a good meal. We ended up showing at 1:30pm for lunch but found the chef just closed the kitchen, so we decided to come back at 5:00pm for their dinner service. Excellent-- I went here for lunch the other day with my father, uncle, and father's wife. We are of Polish decent so we know good Polish food. We had Polish beer, Cabbage soup, Polish sampler and Golubkis. All of the food was excellent. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was very clean. Polish food, with a menu that always pleases. I have gotten the Crazy Polsky so many times, it's always delicious. This time I really wanted Perogis, theirs are always good. But maybe the stuffed cabbage, or a nice grilled Polish sausage. When you can't decide, get the sampler then you get all of it without having to choose! My husband had the veal cutlets, so tender! Plus you get their red cabbage which is not your ordinary warm red cabbage, but a cold delicious salad. Oh, and choose the soup, anyone can have a salad but when you can have potato or cabbage or pickle soup! Yes pickle and it's delicious, they all are you can't go wrong. We chose to go to the restaurant before a concert at the King Center. This was a first time visit. We always try & support local business rather than chain restaurants & we have not been disappointed. This restaurant smelled wonderful upon entering, we were immediately greeted & we had made a reservation so that we would be seated & served in plenty of time to make our concert. The staff is very attentive, we ordered drinks & bread was also brought to the table. We listened to the specials for the evening, then we ordered our appetizers & meals. The food began to flow, each had its own aroma & presentation. I had the duck & it was amazing large portion soo had lunch the next & just as delish. Zcrazy polish dish was also great, a taste of sampler was ordered & a lamb shank that was fabulous. This place is so gross!! I was going to work in the back and saw the owner going to and from his freezer and kitchen, Did I mention he was shirtless? With the price tag that this restaurant puts on frozen & bagged pierogis, you think he could at least be able to afford a work shirt, but what do I know? His freezer also has some yummy looking green mold growing around it, and inside of it. I love little restaurants, but this is not it. One night Niki and I stopped by Salt and Sweet for dinner. It is a funny name but I imagine it has to do with the salty food and the sweet desserts. The staff here is very friendly and we were seated promptly. Our drink order was taken and received in an unreasonable slow amount of time. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff which is one of my favorite dishes. My entree arrived in an unreasonably slow amount of time. It was a good dish but not nearly the best I've tasted but at over $20 it should have been excellent. For a strip mall restaurant this is a surprisingly upscale experience. Salad was delicious with a home made balsamic dressing (extremely garlicky but I loved it). We shared the sampler platter with sausage, potato, perogi and a cabbage/meat roll. Every item super tasty and floating in a delicious sauce. Completely disguised w/ in a shopping plaza, is this hidden gem of a restaurant. To my surprise was light jazz/Sinatra sounds and even a little Julio Eglesisas music, white linens and candlelight. Ambiance was quiet and old-world romantic. Food was amazing. Be sure to start w/ pirogies for the appetizer. Their veal was the most tender I've ever had. Wow, great restaurant. Cabbage soup was like my Grandmother made. Pierogis were to die for. Cabbage are best in FL, took me home to NYC. Golabki was perfect. yum. Polish Sausage (Kielbasa) was cooked perfect and the sauerkraut was the best ever, very flavorful. The Zrazy Polskie was interesting and the dumplings melt in your mouth.
