Best cocktails I've ever had. The flavors were complex and refreshing. Even though the place was packed. Our drinks still came out very quickly. It was a little noisy because they were hosting an engagement party.

very friendly staff. sat at bar... upbeat music, yet still classy. pork belly good, but plate has more potatoes than belly. spinach fresh and lemony.. i'm no spinach lover, yet enjoyed this as i was craving something healthier. each staff said the calimari was their fav and it didn't disappoint... its asian sweet chili so don't expect marinara.

Valentines Day reservations and they definitely made sure you knew there was a 2 hour time limit! I don't think we ever mingled or hung around for longer than needed but I'm guessing there are those who do. Service was excellent, no complaints there. We started with the tuna tartar nachos and calamari. Both was delicious; we actually ordered another calamari to take to our son! We didn't think there were enough choices for entrees so we settle on the sticky short ribs to share. It was delicious but wished there were a few more choices. We also didn't get dessert bc the choices were either a chocolate cheesecake, panna cotta or sorbet. This place is a speak easy style with a dim quiet ambiance. Although the food was delicious, we would only come back if there were more choices overall

Very cool speakeasy style bar nestled beneath street level in Rosslyn. Entered through the "unmarked doors" marked by a SALT doormat into an appropriately dimly lit stylish bar and restaurant. Checked with the hostess and was navigated to a private corner in the small bar area. Bartender came right away to check in, and we discussed the old fashioned and manhattan options. Decided to go for their signature barrel aged old fashioned - a little sweet, but properly served and tasty. Really friendly crowd, with lots of interaction between regulars, including one regular with her guide dog who was welcome and treated properly by the staff and patrons. Enjoyed conversation and the surroundings. Ordered the pork belly appetiser. The sauces and garnishes made the dish - a salty, umami blend of textures. The layered potatoes were a little disappointing, quite oily. Definitely a top notch place for a happy hour or night cap drink. Food has good flavors but some execution shortcomings. Will probably try another dish or two in the future.

Salt is a great spot for a date night or girls' night out. It was packed after work on a Tuesday, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The cocktail-lounge atmosphere feels intimate and stylish, and the location is right near the Rosslyn Metro. Service was a little slow, but it gives you time to chill and enjoy your drink and company. The food was good across the board. The gnocchi was pillowy, rich, and really delicious, with a good portion of pasta and vegetables. The shrimp appetizer was garlicky, buttery, and simple but done really well. The grilled branzino was tasty with crispy skin and a nice sauce, though the portion was a bit on the smaller side. The short rib bolognese was rich, hearty, and definitely shareable between two people. The panna cotta was creamy with a good texture, and the fruit added a bright, refreshing balance.

Salt did NOT disappoint! The vibe was exactly what I wanted for post-birthday-dinner drinks cozy, cute, and just the right amount of moody. Most of the cocktails were hits, and for the couple we weren't crazy about, they happily let us try something new with zero fuss. Love that! Huge shoutout to Orianna! She handled our group of six like an absolute pro and kept the good energy going all night. I'm already plotting my next visit because the food menu is calling my name. Definitely make a reservation, though! it's a smaller, speakeasy-style spot and fills up fast.

Speakeasy-esk bar in the basement of Open Road Restaurant in Rosslyn. The space is dark and intimate, with just a few tables and a bar area. The music was a bit loud, but not terrible The food menus is pretty limited as well, though there are lots of drinks options I came here for dinner with my fiance and I really enjoyed my cocktail (a rum based drink in a tiki glass), and entree (short ribs), and we really enjoyed the chocolate cheesecake that we split as well It is a pricey place, but to me it was well worth it

I've been here before noted some updates to the menu. I don't recall there being entrées before, but I was very happy with my choice of the filet ! Good cook on the medium and quite filling! The tuna poke nachos were also very tasty and shareable. And I can't recall the exact name, but I got a matcha vodka drink, and I was so enamored with the edible glitter finish! It's very cozy and feels private and secluded! Even being here before once again, it's like finding a secret room. But I like that! The server was on top of it ! Never missed a beat despite being busy, gave great recommendations and was really personable and friendly to deal with! I think it's well priced for the experience

This bar was hard to find since my Google maps was glitching but it's was worth the hunt. The vibes here are amazing ! The lighting, music, and service was 12/10. Everyone was warm, friendly, and attentive. The drinks were so tasty and unique. And the food 100/10. Yo, the burrata was amazing!! I would definitely return here ASAP.

Very pricey, but every single cocktail was DELISH and the food was flavorful! I was so impressed with how much fish was on the nachos, and the sliders were soooo tender

A nice and chill speak easy (ssh). If you're not paying attention you'll miss the spot. Here's a hint, it's not upstairs :). The cocktail list at this place is exquisite. The bartender does a great job with beautifully crafted cocktails and is very knowledgeable. The ambiance of this place is amazing. You feel like you've been teleported to some cool swanky place in New York during prohibition. It's nice. The food was pretty good too. I enjoyed my burger and wings. Great time here.

SALT in Arlington turned out to be the perfect low-key, elevated date night spot. Don't let the unassuming entrance fool you--after entering through a set of glass doors, look for the unmarked wooden door with a doormat. We almost walked into the neighboring American Grill by accident, but once we found SALT, the vibe shifted immediately: moody lighting, a cozy speakeasy feel, and an intimate layout that's ideal for couples or small groups. We dined late on the 4th of July (around 10 p.m.) and were still met with fantastic food and even better service. Cesar was our server and truly made the night memorable--so bubbly, thoughtful, and attentive. I asked for a garlic aioli for my truffle fries, and he brought out a full sampler of house-made sauces: truffle aioli, a honey mustard-style aioli, and ketchup, all plated beautifully. Above and beyond! Food-wise, everything hit the mark. My Wagyu burger was juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked medium--definitely lived up to the hype. The truffle fries didn't have a strong truffle flavor, but they were still crisp and satisfying. My boyfriend ordered the short rib, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender, paired with creamy mashed potatoes that balanced it out perfectly. We also tried the calamari, which I personally loved--crispy and topped with sriracha mayo and pickled red onions. It had a bit of sweetness that I enjoyed, though my boyfriend wasn't a fan of that flavor contrast. We both tried cocktails: I had their seasonal matcha drink (matcha-my-freak) which was creamy, citrusy, and refreshing--a surprising but lovely combo of matcha, lavender, and lemon. He opted for a non-alcoholic "you don't fool me" which was tasty and coconut based but a little too spicy for him. The jalapeño definitely brought the heat! The space itself is on the smaller side--probably about 15 tables and a small bar area--so I wouldn't recommend it for large parties, but it's absolutely perfect for a cozy night out. The menu isn't huge, but what they do offer, they do well. It leans more cocktail bar than full-scale restaurant, but we left full and happy. Parking can be tricky (it's Arlington), so plan for a garage if you're driving. But overall, this was one of the best late-night dining experiences I've had in a while, and Cesar's incredible service sealed the deal. SALT is officially on my "would absolutely return" list.

love love LOVE! tucked away in the heart of rosslyn sits salt, a swanky, cozy speakeasy that's perfect for a date night. immediately upon entry we hear familiar R&B hits (which i LOVED) and are greeted by the very kind and helpful wait staff. i ordered the dirty vodka martini, which was perfectly briny and chilled, and the calamari, which was delicious! I can't wait to come back!

    Ask the Community - Salt

Does Salt accommodate groups of 15-20?

    Not really - it's a speakeasy so it's a small space.

Is there a rooftop at Salt Rosslyn? When is it open?

Nope, salt is a basement bar with speakeasy vibes

    How is parking?

I hate parking in Rosslyn. There's paid street parking but some have 1 hour limit or if you're lucky can grab a spot right on the street of the restaurant that has 3.5 hour max. There's also nearby paid garages. It's close to Rosslyn metro stop…

Are there any gluten free options?

Hi Tracy R.! Most of the menu is not inherently gluten free. However, there a number of dishes that can be modified for gluten sensitivities. Our team is happy to find a dish…

Before getting to the food, I'll first rate the interior excellent. It's big and open, and has a modern yet rustic design, which makes it an excellent atmosphere. They had an impressive list of wines and cocktails, but the draft beer selection was limited. Could use a bit more variety on tap, but I enjoyed the Imperial IPA nonetheless. As for the food; all of it was on the pricey sized given the quality and quantity served, but the salmon collar was by far my favorite -- followed by the chicken, although the chicken was a bit less meaty than I expected. The gem salad, the carrots and the steak fries were all very "meh," and the bisques seemed like small ciabatta buns rather than actual biscuits. All that aside, the biggest disappointment was unfortunately the ax ribeye - it wasn't cooked properly (despite asking for med-rate, depending on the bite, it ranged from medium to very rare), and it was really stringy and fatty - a major disappointment for a steakhouse. Deserts were delicious, I really enjoyed the ice cream cake and thought the peanut butter pie was good. Service was great, prompt and friendly. So I definitely wouldn't recommend this place as a statehouse based on my experience, but would consider coming for the salmon.

First off, there seemed to be only one waiter handling around 7-8 tables. Tables on both sides of us were visibly getting frustrated with how slow the service was. We came to enjoy ourselves and weren't in a rush, so we didn't mind waiting as much, but the service was noticeably slow. Interestingly, the actual dishes came out fairly quickly, but everything else--ordering, drinks, checking in, and getting things we needed--took a long time. For a restaurant at this price point, I was also expecting the overall experience and atmosphere to feel a little more elevated. It didn't really feel particularly upscale or special, and the bathrooms were noticeably dirty, which was surprising and definitely took away from the experience. Overall, the food was decent, but between the understaffed service, cleanliness, and atmosphere, I didn't feel the experience matched the price. Restaurant Week is usually a great opportunity to try a higher-end restaurant and want to come back, but unfortunately I don't think I'd return at the regular menu prices.

The music venue is located below the Hamilton, a storied dining experience in the 600 block of 14th Street in D.C. Doors would open at 6:30 p.m. for a performance that would begin, right on time, at 8 p.m. I travel alone, and prefer not to join tables, opting instead to sit where single seats are available. The Hamilton - Live offers both: most of the seating is in groups of 4- or 6-seat benches where groups gather, and there are rows of single seats on a slight rise above the forward seating, offering a great view of the stage and the screens above the stage. I arrived around 7 p.m. Within minutes Marie greeted me with a menu and instructions to post a card on a holder at my place, signaling her to stop by to take my order. The menu was eclectic, with sushi, pizza, tacos, salads, wings, cheeseburger sliders, and nachos. There are robust vegetarian and gluten-free selections, and a fully licensed bar. I placed the card in the holder at my seat and Marie returned to take my order: sushi - shrimp tempura ($14), with a can of Nutrl Pineapple ($8) and a double G&T ($23.18). The crowd was gathering, and the attending wait staff were moving with speed, filling orders. My meal arrived in great shape about 15 minutes after I placed the order. Nicely executed sushi! Sound quality in the venue is great, and the restroom was clean and well lit. And as the catalogues of both the Dead and Steely Dan inspire dancing, the dance floor was filled right from the start. The band's vibe was low key and spontaneous, with lots of smiling on the dance floor. Total with a 22% tip was $79 (which included a white Russian nightcap). Reasonable fare for the DMV.
