Where to start? We have been here a few times now and have never been disappointed! To begin, you must get the French onion soup dumplings! What an amazing appetizer! The environment is welcoming, with booths and tables, and a huge bar area. The servers we had have been attentive and informative on the menu. They have a great selection of food and drink, and TVs throughout, even small ones at the booths. Go for Happy Hour for reduced costs on popular items!

Yet one more place to remind me that Oldsmar is a city full of hidden gems! I came out here on a rainy day with Muffin after finding that the MIdtown area was way too congested (there was something going on at the Raymond James stadium--a football game, I guess??) and I wanted to be away from the crowds. So...turned around and drove out here. Salt Rock has been on my radar for quite some time due to always coming out to First Watch. Welp, I decided to take the opportunity and eat here. I'm glad I did. It's very casual. Seats are first come first serve out on the patio area. I'm out with my sweet puppy Muffin on our Mommy n Me outing, of course I take the patio, and thankfully, there was room. The service here is very casual and laid back. There was one girl behind the bar at the time and I wasn't sure if anyone was coming, so I go up to ask. She was very friendly, told me she'd be right there in a moment. Brought me my menu and I glanced it over. Got the Shrimp n Grits which is one of my favorite dishes as of late. So many places do it, and not all of it is the same, and I'm curious to know how there's is. Blessedly, this one is a mix of hearty and light. Just the right amount of grits, which was thick, creamy, and heaty with a hint of cheesiness. The broth over the top was light and flavorful, and the vegetables added a pop of color, spice, texture to the overall dish. Also had the enough shrimp to fill me up. Absolutely have to make a return visit here.

The service and atmosphere were excellent. If you eat outside, you can hear the music from across the street--live band. The food was a solid 4-no more, no less. Overall, recommended.

Met a good friend here this afternoon for a quick bite to eat and a good gossip session! Salt Rock Tavern did not disappoint on its service, cleanliness, or quality of food. Emily our server, was a rockstar and was impeccable on serving us and giving us our long needed catch up time. She gave great recommendations and served us delicious drinks and food! Guaranteed great time!!! Will definitely be back! PS. The Oldsmar Burger is TO. DIE. FOR!

Desiring to visit a local restaurant, we checked the ratings and Salt Rock Tavern was very appealing. Went there on a Thursday around 5:00 PM for Happy Hour, more for the food specials since we rarely do cocktails. We were seated immediately and surprised to see two friends from our church that we haven't seen in a year. Got to visit briefly as they had finished their meal. Of course I had to try the Raw Oysters. They were large, juicy and delightful. We also tried the Fried Green Tomatoes, another favorite. They were crispy, hot and delicious, not overly breaded. A great start. I knew my wife would order the Coconut Shrimp, her favorite, and I planned to try something else from the Happy Hour menu. But the waitress mentioned they had Stone Crab Claws tonight. I have been in Florida over 30 years and never had them. Either I didn't think about them, they were out of season or the restaurant was out of them. So I jumped on the chance to try them. My wife's shrimp were delicious, I did get to try one, just one. Crunchy, sweet and mild with a dipping sauce that was perfect. I picked through the claws slowly and carefully. Although they were pre-cracked, there was still a lot of picking and removing very small pieces of shell. The taste was delicious. Glad I tried them finally, but I'll stick with King Crab. Food was terrific, restaurant was very safety conscious. Server Allison was superb and really took excellent care of us. We shall return!!

Always love going to Salt Rock! Great food, tons of different beers to choose from, and good service. Last night I just had my typical wedge salad which is always very good, but also tasted a few appetizers that were ordered from friends. Highly recommend the French Onion Soup Dumplings and steak kabobs but not the Buffalo Chicken Dip. Creamsicle beer was great too!

I have been here once before for the bacon appetizer, oysters and a burger which was fabulous! This visit was with my boyfriend & his parents for the Sunday Brunch Buffett which is a great deal for $19.99 including 2 Mimosa's, Bloody Mary's or Screwdrivers. Atmosphere and food is fabulous and we can't wait to return again for the brunch. They have a huge variety of options and I will attempt to break some of them down: Omelet Station: My new favorite omelet spot with lots of choices. I had one with ham, bacon, mushrooms and cheese that was absolutely perfect! Carving Station: Ham which was amazing. Roast beef I found only ok but au jus and horseradish sauce was delish. Raw bar: Wonderful with fresh raw oysters along with peel & eat shrimp. Breakfast station: Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, Eggs Benedict, potatoes and some amazing biscuits & gravy. Dessert: Assorted mini desserts, Bananas Foster, Sundaes and assorted danishes. Misc: Fresh Friuit, a variety of salads, pasta salad, a whole smoked Salmon, Fried rice with beef stir fry and blackened fish!

Our server Savannah was extremely friendly and helped my wife ultimately settle on her entree choice. We got the mozzarella sticks for an app (delicious!), and both ordered the $10.99 hamburger deal (to compare to Chili's). Comes with a drink and appetizer, we got house salads since we already had the cheese sticks. Salad... you guys would elevate them so much if you got away from Ken's brand or whatever oil-based Ranch dressing you use, and make it in-house!!! The salad was a good size though, but we also had to pick out the lettuce stock from one of them. Burgers were also a good size and came with lettuce, onion and tomato, which we weren't expecting. But we asked for them at a medium temp, and thee were more a medium well to well done. We did ask for mayo and had to wait for that, so the fries and burgers got cool -- and moist cold fries aren't appetizing. Things were picking up, so we were gracious, and our server did offer to have the burgers warmed up -- but they were already too done as it was. Overall it was a mediocre experience. Things can be improved upon, and the staff ARE friendly enough to make it happen, hopefully.

They have lots of TV's. They had sports and movies on. Our waitress was great. She was always walking by asking if we needed anything and refilling our tea. She was extremely busy, but could handle her load. She was upbeat with a good personality. I have OCD, so when they brought us our silverware and it's pulled out of the holder sitting at the hostess desk it grossed me out. I'm so glad I carry my own silverware when going out to eat. The food was good. We had onion rings and mozzarella cheese for appetizers. My dish was chicken, broccoli and a salad. My husband had blackened white fish with veggies. It was all delicious. They have a variety of options to choose from on the menu. We will be going back to try the wings. I do recommend trying Beef O' Brady's out. It's family friendly, but also had a bar section.

On our most recent visit, our waitress, Alyssa, didn't greet us when we sat down. We had to get her attention before she acknowledged us, and instead of taking our drink order, she commented that she was wondering where we were going to sit. This was the third time we've had her as our server, and each experience has felt unfriendly and unwelcoming. She never smiles or seems interested in providing good customer service, which makes dining there uncomfortable. What was even more disappointing was the overall atmosphere. As we were leaving, several employees, including the manager, were sitting together and didn't acknowledge us or say something as simple as, "Have a good night." We watched other guests receive a much warmer goodbye, which made us feel overlooked. Customer service and professionalism are what keep people coming back, and unfortunately, this experience made us feel like our business wasn't valued. I hope management addresses these issues because the restaurant has potential, but the consistently poor service and lack of professionalism make it difficult to recommend.
