Decent steakhouse right off of the highway. Not a huge chain but a chain restaurant none the less. My first take on it was it was similar to Outback but it's own theme. We chose this one because there was another steakhouse right next door and it was empty and this one was packed. Seating was table and booths. I was with a large group so we had a table. Service was good as everybody ordered seperate meals and our server got everything right. The food was good. I had the Ribeye and it was seasoned and cooked well. Plenty of parking. read more

Manager Will made our night! When we arrived in town around 8 p.m., my hubby went to the gas station and Will was waiting for help with his jumper cables out...no one was helping. Matthew stepped up and did his good citizen deed, only to discover Will was wanting to comp our appetizer, desert and part of our meal. The funny thing is I did Yelp for the top 10 steakhouses and this one appealed to me as it wasn't a "big box" name. This solidified the decision and we had delightful service and attention from the entire team. Highly recommend the crabcakes and amazing cheesecake. Tbone did not disappoint and our Boston Terrier traveling with us had a yummy bone treat to gnaw on for a couple days. Thanks Will and team! Amarillo, Tx Saltgrass was my first meal at a Saltgrass that wasn't even remotely good. I got the Chicken New Orleans expecting good flavor. It was the most bland meal I've eaten. My wife and I were passing through Amarillo in the middle of the day on a Thursday and decided to try a Texas steak house. We chose Saltgrass and it was outstanding. They accidentally left out my smoked cheddar Mac & Cheese, but I was so happy we went back for it because it was so good! I'd eat more of it right now! The steak was very good. Been here before a couple of times while going down Rt. 66, and always great. First time I had the porterhouse. One of the best steaks I have ever had-for around $39 with all the great trimmings and sides. Better than most $70-$80 steaks that I have had in Chicago-and I have been to ALL the Chicago steakhouses, some many times. Service here is always fantastic, drinks are great, huge wine servings.... love this place. Please note that this is not in the league of decadence of some Chicago steak restaurants where we used to take clients all the time, like Hugo's or some other in NYC or wherever; this is a chain, and I can't vouch for other locations, but this one location is outstanding and can compete in some areas with some of the best steakhouses around. Wife and I stopped in on our way from California to Connecticut cause we wanted steak from Texas. I got the pats ribeye, she got steak and shrimp. Everything was fantastic. I've paid 3 times as much money for a steak that wasn't as good. The soup, salad, mashed potatoes and fried onions were top notch as well. The staff was courteous and fast, they offered great recommendations for drinks and food without being pushy. Restrooms were clean and entire facility was well put together. Arrived at the Drury Inn next to Saltgrass. Tried to order via phone four (4) times for pick up. First time Melissa picked up and I wasn't ready to take my order but I'd say I'd call back because, wife hadn't decided what she wanted yet. Called back a few minutes later but the female who answered didn't announce her name and put me in hold for 10mins. Hung up the phone and called back in and a man answered the phone on put me on hold for 7 mins., hung up and called in again and got Melissa who took my order, thank god. Got to the Restaurant to pick up my order which took 10 mins to bag up. Observing Melissa was busting her ass while others could care less. Asked for the GM, and told him what a great job Melissa was doing and the other two (2) people who picked up the phone were worthless for picking up the phone and putting a customer on hold for 7-10mins. Told the GM Melissa should get a raise to which the GM admitted she was working at the Steak House longer than him. Maybe Melissa should replace the GM, because she cares more for the clientele. If I was the owner, you need to do staff reviews every six months to let the cream of employees to rise to the top and have better customer service. My bill was $115 including tip for pick-up. read more

It's a steakhouse but I didn't have any steak. What I did have was amazing!!! We had the jalapeño stuffed shrimp (appetizer), Red Fish and Shrimp Dish, shrimp platter. Everything was very good. Waitress was clearly new but very nice and I could tell she was trying. The place lost a star because they were kinda all over the place, we got our app and then main course BEFORE salad. Someone came out with salad but then took it away and gave it to another table that came after us. We waited but the main course came and we were told our salad ticket may have gotten lost. Also our waitress called another waitress to clarify about how something was cooked but neither knew! We ordered the shrimp platter after being told there'd be no bacon on anything and it came with bacon wrapped shrimp. Our waitress was kind enough to bring some extra grilled shrimp to replace the bacon wrapped ones so it's all good. Overall I was very happy here, especially after many hours driving and tired, the food was a good night cap. read more

Stayed in Amarillo for the one night and needed something to eat. This place was close and steak so have it a go. Ordered through Postmates and was ready to pick up at 5:59pm. Promptly went in to collect and was told it was nearly ready. Because I had my dog outside, I went back to the car and waited in the pickup zone. Waited for another 15 minutes and the lady came out to give me my food. It at least stayed hot, but was just OK. Certainly not worth the 4 or so stars this place gets. Had the filet mignon trio each medallions had different flavors on top the first blue cheese bacon butter that melted in your mouth. The flavors exploded on the pallet with every bite. Next medallion had grilled shrimp with lemon butter I could eat this all day and never get tired of it and the third medallion had sautéed mushrooms on top cooked to perfection cooked medium on the medallions. Really good steak house, really respectful and attentive staff, and not super busy when we went there. We came here on a Saturday evening, around 4:19 or so, and were immediately tended to. We did not have to wait long for our food either. The food was seasoned well, the fried mushrooms even had a little bit of spice in them. The steaks were extremely tender so much so that we could cut the steak with a fork, which was really good. It is really expensive though, around $100 for 3 people. We had more than we could eat though, as we had side salads as well which were decent. Can't afford to eat here everyday, but I would recommend taking dates here as they provide quality service and good food. From start to finish everything was perfect. I was greeted with smiles and seated immediately in a nicely decorated room. Our server was beyond amazing from refilling drinks, changing the napkins under our cup (who does that?!), clearing the table of finished dishes, checking up on us, and promptness of our bill. Service was impeccable. We first ordered the Long Island Ice Tea (I forget the exact name they called it) and it was in a enormous cup! Strong enough to get a nice buzz, but good that you couldn't even taste the alcohol. I ordered the 12oz Sirloin with a loaded baked potato and Cesar salad. The salad was good, decent sized, nothing too too special. The Sirloin was to die for. It was tender, nice seared outside, cooked perfectly to medium rare. Lots of flavor! It came with a block of melting butter on top of my steak which was a first for me. I kind of spread it around then put the left overs in my loaded baked potato. The baked potato came with butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, and bacon. It was medium sized, but complimented the entree. I will definately be coming back for round 2..3..maybe 4. read more

We like the Saltgrass chain and visit locations in most places we find them. We rarely have had a bad experience and the food and service is usually consistent. Troubling to us was our last experience in Amarillo along I-40. We observed two dogs in the restaurant (non-service). Yuck! It had been raining and the smell of wet dog was apparent in the reception area. We also observed a dog lying under a table (again, non-service) of customers. I don't know what county health thinks of this but we're not fans on a hygiene basis. We're going to have to think twice about keeping this on our list of favorites. ***Update*** A customer service rep contacted me and asked for my name and number and date and time we dined. I provided all but my name and number. It's not clear how my name helps in asking staff if dogs were permitted in dining areas at these dates and times. We've gone here for years for celebrations like an anniversary. We considered this a place to expect good service and excellent food, notably steak. My husband said," You could cut it with a fork". A week or so ago we went because of a positive doctor's report, a reason to celebrate. He's in a wheelchair for out-of-house activity. This restaurant has good wheelchair access and parking. However, both of us were disappointed in the steak...Much like a frozen piece, stored too long. Neither of us found it juicy, tender, nor very tasty. It was the same New York strip we had ordered many times. The bread loaf was smaller, seemed to be not too fresh; made from frozen dough? My steamed broccoli and his baked potato were very good, as expected. The breaded mushrooms were ok, a bit too spicy. Service was pleasant. Loud music could have been dialed down...distracting. Traveling the Mother Road. Ate here about 3 yrs ago and was not disappointed then or now. Sat in the bar area and enjoyed a nice prime rib (lunch portion) with mashed potatoes and side salad with ranch dressing. Ordered prime rib medium, came pink all the the way thru. Hot and when mixed with creamy horseradish put a little zing at the back of my throat. Awesome!! Ordered for dessert homemade brownie on cookie crust with a scoop of vanilla ice cream glazed with caramel. Nice touch!! Clean environment. Wait staff professional, courteous and friendly. Look forward to stopping by when we travel the Mother Road again. PS the lunch sirloin and shrimp was delicious. If I could I would order shrimp as a side stand alone (assuming I could get more than 4). The shrimp was a good size and lightly batter. We arrived at Saltgrass on the evening of Mother's Day. The restaurant was packed and the wait line was long. Fortunately there was a couple of spots open at the full service bar. We had Jordan behind the bar. Jordan provided an excellent service for us while being very busy with orders from the rest of the restaurant. He got our meal out in a timely manner and was a pleasure to talk to. The Filet Mignon was the very best my wife and I have ever had. With Jordan's excellent service and Saltgrass outstanding steak we will dine there again next time we are in Amarillo. After driving all day, saw the restaurant as I arrived at my hotel, checked it out on yelp. Excellent all around, from reservations, hostess, attentive server, to rapid bar service ( in a packed house) delivering a martini made like I requested. Ordered the "smothered" steak which was grilled to perfection, delicious meat, with a side of mushrooms and onions cooked in a brown gravy to spoon over the steak and some grilled asparagus. This southerner says not what we called "smothered" steak but thumbs up. read more

Hands down a Tillman restaurant at its finest. Ordered 3 items to-go and all 3 were wrong. I should say I'm a former employee of Tillman and am aware of his extensive policies, exacting standards, and rigorous training with extensive auditing. Walked up to the bar to pick up the to-go order and waited over 3 minutes to be greeted. Not up-to-par for the Tillman handbook. On to the food... First, a kids mac n' cheese with fruit. You would think pretty straightforward but not for a Landry's establishment. Mac n' cheese delicious and my kid ate every noodle! Fruit, however, was a whole apple and maraschino cherries. On my return trip, I had to remind the manager that maraschino cherries are a bar garnish, not meant for fruit for a child to eat an entire bowl of. I asked if the maraschino cherries came from the bar tray or kitchen and was given no answer. Glad to know the staff gives no pause to possibly give fruit from a bar tray where alcohol may have splashed into to a child. Huge and responsible thumbs up. Second, the soup my wife ordered and paid for but surprise, not in the bag!! Can't comment much more than that... well, when we walked back from the hotel and picked up their mistake my wife did say it was tasty. Lastly, my food. Nashville hot chicken sandwich which is served with fries but I asked for mashed potatoes and you guessed it, was served with fries! Substitution cost wasn't an issue, they just forgot. And again, the sammie wasn't bad. Moral of the review. Don't eat at a Landry's restaurant, and if you have to, like us (was walkable from the hotel with dogs), don't get to-go without thoroughly checking your order. Really makes that extra charge for to-go food sting even more. Keep lining your pockets Tillman, but it will never be with my money again. read more

This restaurant is close to our hotel and we decided to try it and it did not disappoint but it also didn't wow us. It was typical steak nicely cook and tender and the salad was fresh and the potato good also. There is nothing fancy about this place very casual. Our server was really nice and attentive. The croutons on the salad were really tasty and we were pleased with the cost of our meal around $35.00 for two of us for steak and shrimp. They give you choices of shrimp, grilled, fried or coconut. I had coconut and my partner had grilled. The grilled were a little soggy to me but the coconut was good just average frozen and the sauce they served with it I didn't like it was a little to fragrant. Food = 3 out of 5 stars (which is better than average). Service = 5 out of 5 stars because it doesn't get any better. Ask for Isabel for a very nice dining experience. I'm from Las Vegas and found the drink prices to be VERY reasonable. I was drinking the Macallan 12 ($11.00 per shot) and my son had the giant margarita. He said his was good and the Macallan was the same as it always is, awesome. I got the ribs, fried shrimp, steak fries and a wedge salad. If that sounds like a lot of food, that's because it is a LOT of food! The wedge was excellent! Tons of bleu cheese, a nice drizzle of balsamic(?), tomatoes and bacon. The potatoes were not what I expected, but excellent. The shrimp were good, if not a bit over battered, and came with a funky looking sauce which turned out to have a really nice flavor. The ribs? Stone cold. I ate them anyway because I was hungry and in a hurry. Honestly, they tasted good, but WTF? Cold? They need to work on their process there a bit I think. Our server was Isabel and she is exceptional! She is a lovely young woman with a great smile and tons of personality. If that's not enough, she has mad ninja skills. More on that later. So much of a businesses success hinges on the employees performance. In this case the performance was better than the food which brought the overall rating up. If I had poor service in addition to the cold protein, I would have sunk this review. Isabel has already discovered the balance between being attentive without hovering. She made appropriate suggestions after asking about our preferences. We found the food to be adequate, leaning toward desirable. The cocktails were very good and the service was exceptional. The table side conversation was appropriate and pleasant. She has a bright future I think. Oh, the ninja skills.... Isabel was carrying about a hundred pounds of food on the table sized serving tray when she tripped on a tray stand that someone had left in the way. She was going down with the entire tray of food! But then she recovered somehow, regained her footing, balanced the tray, stood up and walked off like nothing had happened. We were impressed, her co-workers were even more so. read more

We always stop here while traveling west. Its consistently delicious with excellent service! This last visit was Mother's Day 2017 while taking an RV trip to Arizona & Utah. I ordered the grapefruit mule (yum!) Carl got the pom mojito (equally delish) while Carls brother got a beer. We ordered the rattlesnake poppers (jalepeno stuffed shrimp, cheese) so so tasty!! I ordered the 8 oz filet medium rare (cooked to perfection) i love the spices they use. The side dishes I ordered was the wedge salad & aweet potato (huge - with honey butter!) The wedge salad is an extra $2.79 for some reason, but it was perfect! My hubby got the sirloin k-bob (excellent) and Roy, the 12 oz strip (he loved it).
