Asked the manager if gift cards count towards the rewards... She said that purchasing or spending gift cards count. Guess what? Spending them does not count towards the rewards. I have no complaints about the service, ambiance, or music, but the food was a complete failure. We ordered the Range Rattlers for an appetizer because they didn't have any bacon for the Bourbon glazed bacon. The shrimp was overcooked, the jalapeno was undercooked, and the jalapenos were so thick that the cheese didn't melt by the time the batter browned. For a restaurant in Texas that is originally out of Texas that "chargrills to perfection", why didn't they chargrill the jalapenos first to char the skins and add flavor? The rubbery shrimp flavor was lost to the jalapenos. Bacon would have been better, had they had any. Even brisket, but the tasteless batter brought nothing to the dish and was the same used for the chicken fried steak we ordered. The cheap cut of meat was too thick, grisly, and not tenderized. A good cfs is pounded thin, mechanically tenderized, and pressed into seasoned flour, which doesn't separate from the meat the way the batter did. The cfs and mashed potatoes were served on an oversized plate and the mashed potatoes were spread out thin to make the portions fit the plate, which caused the mashed potatoes to cool too quickly. The gravy was almost non-existent and we had to ask for extra. Everything was tasteless as far as seasonings go. And, as is typical for EP, they only serve Michelob Ultra Zero for non-alcoholic beer, which ranks as bad as Heineken and Corona NAs. There are much better offerings, like Athletic, but EP hasn't caught up with the non-alcoholic trend yet. Regardless of bad reviews, we decided to try it. We won't be going back. read more

First off, service. I waited at the entrance for a good solid 3-5 min before anyone showed up. The maitre d, asked if I wanted to sit at the bar, I don't care too unless it's busy so I replied, may sit in a small both? Her smile went away quickly and was replaced with a face of annoyance. As she lead the way, I saw I was absolutely the only customer in the entire restaurant, and me not liking to bother anyone, I told her I would sit at the bar. Her smile returned and mine will not reappear here again for the entirety of my visit. Bar tender was ok but TBH and totally open, Sundays are pretty sad for me. I'm used to being with my daughters after church and sharing a good meal. Now that I'm separated by their mom, and me being an introvert, I just wanted to sit by myself and try to enjoy a hopefully good meal. Well I ordered my steak rare with onions and mushrooms. As you can see that isn't present on my steak. It was eventually corrected by the bartender. The appetizer soup was pretty good. Ambiance was your average steak house. I'm updating my review as tonight we experienced some challenges with my favorite place to have drinks and celebrate family birthdays. I used the open table app to book our party for my husband's birthday on New Years Eve 4 days in advance and when we arrived at 6:45 pm we're told that they would seat us as soon as a table became available??? What? I made reservations, the response we got is that they are understaffed with no servers available...I was totally shocked at the response. How is this my issue? Finally, I think he was a manager, told someone else to seat us and then the same manager told us he would be our sever, which I thought was great. The point to all this is customer service is about solving a customer's concern and NOT sharing your restaurants problems! Drinks and appetizers on the house could've bern offered, or Ma'am let me check on your table and work it out behind the scenes but NEVER give excuses and disguise them as providing a good customer experience! Saltgrass I think it's time to provide training on how to handle these types of restaurant challenges! Other than that the cocktails, appetizers and dinner was excellent our tab was around $300 - my husband ended the evening with a great birthday despite the hiccup in the beginning and the Manager was very attentive and I appreciate him for stepping in and taking care of our family! Absolutely unacceptable service. We decided to came here for an anniversary celebration. The hostess on December 30th was extremely unprofessional and handled the situation terribly. We were told there was a 45-minute wait and that we were third on the list. Despite this, a family with children was allowed to skip everyone simply because they caused a scene and complained. When we confronted the hostess, she tried to cover it up by claiming the family had a reservation, which was a lie we clearly heard the man complaining about the wait before being seated. She then blamed the decision on "Britney, the manager," saying she approved letting them cut the line. Rewarding tantrums and complaints by letting people skip others who have been waiting patiently is ridiculous and completely unfair. This is not how a business should operate, and it reflects very poorly on both the hostess and management. read more

We were a party of seven seniors on Christmas Day at the Saltgrass Steak House in El Paso, Texas. We were assigned a waiter by the name of Dave. First let me rave about the food. The steaks each of us ordered came prepared exactly as we had requested. One side order of mashed potatoes were cold, but were immediately replaced. Everyone was very happy with their meal. My main comments (and those of my fellow diners) pertain to Dave. We loved him! It turned out it was his very first day "flying solo." Although there were a couple of little glitches, overall he did a fantastic job and was so sweet and personable. He worked very hard for each and every one of us. This place is definitely a must go again. We started with drinks and my pomegranate mojito was refreshing and strong. I judge drinks based on the alcohol: fillers ratio. This was a stiff drink but still enjoyable. The atmosphere was mellow and maybe because we were seated in a more private area, the noise was minimal. The attention placed on the patrons is what makes you feel like you are valued. From the waiter placing your cloth napkin on your lap for you (a thoughtful gesture) to his attentiveness making sure we wanted for nothing, was what made for the additional star. We started with the queso blanco. It was smokey but not overbearing. I ordered the ribeye, medium well and it was cooked perfectly. The juicy steak with the butter on top was a definite treat to my senses.My friend ordered the salmon and it too was moist and smokey. For dessert, we were sold on the waiters recommendation of the homemade carrot cake. The portion was definitely sharable and probably the best carrot cake ever. This isa big deal because I make a mean carrot cake myself. It was moist and fresh and loaded with walnuts.
