Met my older brother and younger sister here to celebrate our recent birthdays. We were greeted right away by a smiling hostess and seated promptly. This was a pretty busy Wednesday night and most tables were full of chattering conversations. The atmosphere inside is very pleasant and I really enjoyed the dinner lighting, I wish more restaurants would take note of that very important detail, especially for us hypersensitive people. Our server was a very energetic and attentive young man named Jesus, he made our dinner date extra special with his menu recommendations and awesome banter. Service was absolutely horrible. Our server forgot to ring up our drinks, forgot an entree we ordered and accidentally put our food to go so we were sitting watching other ppl in our party eat their entrees confused on why out food had not come out and the whole time it was because she put it to go. We let it go and paid and even still tipped her just to get home and realize she did not include one of our orders in the to go food. We called the restaurant to let the manager Mark know what had happened and he basically called us liars and spoke to us like that did not happen, without even confirming. We had to go all the way back to the restaurant to PROVE that we were there and we when was not lying because he refused to confirm the order over the phone. We live 30 minutes away. After going back up to the restaurant, which was closed by this time he told us he was unable to do anything and just gave us back the tip that we gave the server. I'm HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED In this location's management and how it was handled. I've eaten at this location several times over the last two years, and it has always been good. The dining room is always clean, and the staff is always nice. Tonight I had one if the best steaks I've ever had at this location. As butter melts in your mouth, this steak seemed to do the same. The House Cabernet was awesome as well. Stopped here before my flight out of IAH. The inside gives calm, quiet, cabin kind of vibe. The staff was welcoming as well. I just had a martini from the menu, it was a 3.5/5 just a little too sweet for my liking. The bartender was very nice & I still made sure to take care of him. There were many people in attendance, but those that were, were around the bar & the bartender was alone. Over all had a good experience. Would definitely go back to try the food. Our servers name was Daniel, and that dude was absolutely spot on. We are a family of 5, 3 boys and my wife and I, so we decided to get 3 appetizers, plus meals. Not one single thing that we ordered was bad. Everything tasted so good, and Daniel represented the restaurant incredibly well, as did all the support folks that helped him bring our food. Our food was all brought at the same time, Bread was provided, soups, salads, appetizers, and entree's and needless to say, we are stuffed!! Man oh man was that a great meal! i ordered food through uber eats. once the food was delivered i was missing meals. stapled to the bag was a receipt of the full order. the bag was not stapled shut for safety. I called this location and spoke to Monica Robles. She advised her ticket only had 2 meals i went back up there to show her my ticket in which she attempted to make me pay for the food again and take it up with uber eats. The bag wasn't stapled so you are at fault. You did not secure the order or make sure it all was there because clearly her systems are different from the printer she re printed the ticket from and the printer that printed the receipt that was stapled to the bag. Terrible service. How can we make a fake receipt? Customer service is truly lost because the way this woman went back and forth when it's clear i paid $113 for food i didn't rcv. oh and her excuse for the bag not being sealed is someone is in training yet still did nothing to accommodate the situation. I've been at this location several times, and every visit has been worth five stars (except for last night, which was closer to 4, but the other times make you for it). I'll start with my usual visits and then highlight last night. We usually dine here when my parents are in or if we want good steak. The bread is wonderful, and the service has always been excellent. Their lunch specials are also good, and you can't beat the early dine pricing. I love how they leave a carafe of water at your table since I drinK a lot of water in general. Last night, my husband and I came in and had David as our waiter. He was spot on with the drink menu, but I had to ask for my water twice and for a refill once (our food was brought out before our waters, and we were parched). Our bread wasn't even mentioned, but we were too full to ask for a loaf. That said, I hope this place hasn't turned into the kind where you have to ask for simple things like straws and bread (our water didn't come with straws, and wIth it being flu season, I'd rather not have my lips touch the same glass as hundreds of other guests). I will definitely be back, but I'll remember to ask for straws, bread, and water next visit. read more

The Saltgrass at 20090 Highway 59 in Humle Texas was not a good service today. I was VP of service for over 37 years, and I have always called out when there is bad and good service. It only takes a little time to make sure your customer is taken care of. I was greeted and given coffee by a gentleman name Coral. He was very polite and brought me my coffee and ask if I would like bread while I look over the menu. I notice when I took a sip of the coffee it was not hot but a little warm, so I just said I will wait until Coral return. After reading all my email on my phone, I didn't look to see how much time had passed by while waiting for Coral to return. But that never happen, and I have been waiting already 35 mins for service. It was not a lot of people at this location, and I'm sure each employee is required to service their area which they are assigned. So, this was not acceptable. I spoke with a young lady at the front and then she gave me the manager Stephanie. She was polite and offer an appetizer, but I could not wait. I ask if I could speak with the Coral, while he was walking around, just to find out what happen. But that was not offer. I have look over Saltgrass reviews from 2015-2024 and there is some improvement needed at this location. I can only express this has happen before at this location concerning customer wait time, when it comes to giving your customer outstanding service. I am not one to complain, but I think your service could do better at this location. Please do what I would have done as a VP are manager, to help your staff. read more

My server was great overall! The manager was really nice! Where the issue came was my food! I asked for onions only on my steak! I hate mushrooms they gave me both. They took my steak to the back scrapped off the mushrooms and just added onions no biggie! Second problem I cut in my steak and it's well done not a pink in site. I asked for medium! I didn't want to send it back I hate sending back food but there was no excuse for this! So sent it back waited awhile and just asked to take my steak to go! I was on a date and it's never fun watching your date enjoy there meal while you have nothing! Before the main course arrived my date had a Caesar salad which they enjoyed and I had the baked potato soup that was outstanding! The flavors of the food was there just had a few hiccups but not a bad place to dine! My date has the Oscar salmon with mash! Her food was a little spicy but overall 9/10. We ordered a chicken breast with string beans to go for my father he gave his food 9/10. My food well is in the fridge right now so I can't give a full review. I spent a decent amount of money and I wasn't able to enjoy my experience. I would give it another try! The moment I took a bite out of my Pat's Rib eye steak, I was sold! All I can say is... the beef texture was on point and tasted very juicy and delicious. Cooked medium to perfection and wasn't chewy at all. I also loved the complimentary bread with honey butter and my side of macaroni and cheese. Everything was perfect! If it's your birthday, they have a complimentary birthday cake too. The size looks like it's a 1/4 cut from a 10'' cake.. No joke. Thank you Bryan for your exceptional service! Finishing up a business trip and decided to go for steak. Sat at the bar, which was about half full, with two bartenders. Waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged and get a drink order. I should have known that was my cue to just leave. Ordered steak, medium rare (it was), salad without tomatoes (it came with extra tomatoes) and a loaded baked potato. Finished my first beer and waited another 10 minutes to get a second. I really should have closed out and just left. By this time, there were three bartenders. I don't normally write reviews for chain restaurants but I had a good experience at this location during lunchtime and didn't spend much more time or money than I normally do for lunch anyway. I came alone so I sat at the bar and received excellent service, as I should since my server was literally 10 feet away most of the time. They have a separate lunch menu and I ordered one of the more reasonable items, the chicken fried chicken. The entree comes with 1 side for $9.95. I chose the fried onion rings as my side. This dish is very filling and they give you quite a bit of onion rings; I barely put a dent in them. The chicken was large and juicy and their breading is pretty good too. The great part of ordering this dish over a chicken fried steak is that you rarely receive all the extra breading along the edges (to deceive you on the actual size of the meat beneath.) I've dined at other locations before and this one doesn't seem much different, but I normally sit in the main dining room. This location might be small, but still has the great taste and better service of previous location I have visited in Houston. This particular occasion was reserved to be an intimate graduation dinner for 6, but it turned into a celebration with 20+ people (not reserved). Fortunately thanks to the manager and staff we were able to be accommodated on such short notice. They expanded our table layouts and added two more waiters/waitress to address our party which greatly helped because by the time one hostess finished with just bringing us water, our party was ready to order appetizers. The additional staff added efficiency, great service and piping hot food for all patrons. The manager checked with us to make sure everything was going good all things considered and we had nothing but good praises. Since the majority of us had different meal options, it became an, Ooh, try this..mine is better scenario!!It was hilarious at the time and a great memory. They do have a normal restaurant layout in the main area, but if you have a big party, request the Ponderosa out back. It has its own Texas western flavor, air condition and WC. I don't know what it is with these teenagers, but some just don't have personality and kind of ruins the mood. Anyway, He did not look happy to be there and was not focused. Luckily the Manager was going around making sure everything was ok, she actually brought our food out and sweet to my daughter. That was really nice of her and definitely changed our mood. My wife and I just had lunch Here. We had 6 Range Rattler's that were excellent as always. My wife had the bacon wrapped filet that she said was good. I had the flounder that was very fishy tasting and was burned on the underside. My first time ordering this. Will not order again. I always ordered the red fish. It was replaced with the flounder. The red fish was always very good. We have been customers of this and other Saltgrass locations ever since they first opened. The steaks are no good after they quit serving Certified Angus beef.
