My wife and I have been eating here for years. We really like the food here usually. Today was very different. We ordered medium steaks they were burnt to a crisp. My soup was ice cold. It was just an unpleasant experience overall. We did eat the queso and salad so they took the steak of our bill and we just paid for what we eat but it just was an unpleasant experience all together. Wanted something different and glad I did. Rather than grabbing a nice steak for lunch, had a weird craving for a burger so ended up with the brisket burger. Very nice and not too overwhelming. Would say ask a bit more brisket but it was good nonetheless. The beef patty was done perfectly, not too dry and the brisket was nice and moist. Fit quite well together! Lunch is usually if not always busy so beware, but must be a reason as to why it's always busy, right?!! Service was great; coworkers steak was overdid, and they quickly fixed it without hesitation. Food is great, haven't had a bad time yet. They begin by bringing you out a nice warm loaf of bread served with butter. Then came out my side salad, spinach and kale...weird to order for 2.99 but I truly enjoyed it. Got to have your greens right! Waitress was prompt and attentive, but the food was all wrong. Wife's filet ordered medium-well came out medium-rare we sent it back. Mom's filet ordered medium came out rare. My rib-eye ordered medium-rare came out medium. So sent the wifes back (took forever) and swapped with mom so she could atleast eat in a timely manner unlike the wife. We usually have a great dinner at salt grass but last night was disappointing. We did not receive our salads after our appetizers. They brought out our main course right after the appetizers, it took a while for our server to return and when we asked for our salads he had a look of shock that we didn't even get them. So we had him box us up some to take home. About midway through our meal I asked my server to get an appetizer ready as we would be ordering it to go. At least 25 minutes after we paid, we were still waiting on the appetizer. The manager finally comes up and explained that our take home appetizer was made incorrectly 2 times before getting it right on the 3rd try. Great service, great food! Salt grass is always a dependable spot for a great meal, special events, or just grabbing delicious apps and a couple pints with friends. The food is made with great care and always consistently good! I always enjoys a favorably priced steak and definitely recommend the Range Rattlers stuffed jalapeños appetizer. This location is close to IAH so a great stop on a layover or spending a night near the air for a flight out of town. Super fun ambiance and great service & staff. This was my first venture to a Texan steakhouse, but I'd like to think I hit it big at Saltgrass. We started off with the appetizer of the Rattlers. These are prawns topped with cream cheese and wrapped with a slice of jalepeño pepper then battered and deep fried. They are very good. They come with some onion string "fries" that really add to the dish. Very good. Next came our meal. I ordered the "surf & turf". This is a rib eye steak with shrimp (I ordered mine as grilled). Oh the steak was fabulous. I asked for medium-well but I would call what I got as medium. Still - I'm not complaining because it was so very good. Someone else at the table orderd the bone-in rib-eye. I tasted it but I still liked mine better. My side was to be the garlic mashed potato but the accidentally brought me a baked sweet potato. The waiter simply brought me a saucer of the garlic mash too! I must say they were both delicious. The garlic mash had a bit of sour cream built in and made for a terrific side. The baked yam was acompanied with some butter that had some cinnamon and brown sugar. It was subtle but so very, very good. I can't wait to go again. read more

When I was ready to check out, I asked a bartender (later found out her name to be was Lindsey) if she could find me someone to close out my tab and to give me a to-go cup for my $7 beverage. She took my payment and said 'you can't have a to-go cup for that drink'. I asked why not? Lindsey went on to say that alcoholic beverages cannot be taken out. I knew her information was incorrect. I informed her to go verify that information with her superior, at which point, another bartender named Tommy came to me and said my drink could not be 'taken out' but that he would make me a new drink and place it in a to-go bag, to which I agreed. Say it ain't so Joe. For many years saltgrass has been my go to restaurant to take family and friends for a decent steak, nice atmosphere and very good service. In this age of quarantine and virus avoidance, I decided for the very first time to order my meal to go. I wanted fried mushrooms and a New York strip steak dinner. It cost me 40 bucks but I was anticipating one of those rare treats when you get tired of the fast food drive-through dining experience. When I called in my order the young lady said it would be 15 to 20 minutes. Since this was mid afternoon I thought that the time was maybe a little aggressive but about right. Just to be safe, I agreed to the time because I was some distance away. So when I called when I arrived 30 minutes later I was confident the meal was waiting on me. Much to my surprise, it took another 25 minutes to get my meal. I was OK with that because I was expecting hot fried mushrooms that I would be eating on the way home as a snack and pre-meal. unfortunately, the meal was both seriously late and all the food cold. The mushrooms weren't even warm. So my first experience at curbside ordering from saltgrass was a disaster. However once warmed up the steak and potato were pretty good. If you go inside, I'm sure the experience is as consistently good as ever. However, I'm afraid something is lost when you don't have a single wait person watching over the preparation and serving of your meal read more

Great Steakhouse. Took the family there for dinner. Entree's were $20-$30. I got a 16oz Prime Rib. I asked for it Medium Rare and it was perfect. I love a place where you can get a good Prime Rib any day of the week. My youngest had the Gulf Shrimp and Steak. He asked for BBQ shrimp and it came wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cream cheese and a sliver of jalapeno. Delicious. I don't usually eat dessert but they had a fantastic Brownie Crumble with Blue Bell ice cream. Really good. Tasty tall thing, but it was mostly tomato/onion and could have improved with more crab and avocado. Caesar salad was obviously premade and put in the fridge, a too cold fridge, because it was borderline frozen. Putting that aside it was over dressed and I had to go on a treasure hunt to find bits of soggy crouton. What gets this place it's three stars is that my ribeye was cooked perfectly! Juicy, tasty, just how I asked medium rare. I got the Mac and cheese side dish and it wasn't as good as velveeta shells and cheese but it was edible. Finished the meal with the brownie cookie skillet. Nice warm gooey brownie with blue bell ice cream. A couple of times over the past couple of weeks, I have ordered food here to-go. They have had it ready promptly and on time. They can fix it in bulk or individually. However, my one complaint is when they do fix it in bulk, they do not offer plates. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they don't offer plates if you are ordering bulk food. They do provide Styrofoam to-go containers as plates but doesn't that defeat the purpose of ordering in bulk? As far as the food goes, I do like it. I have always considered the food at Saltgrass to be a half step above Logan's or Texas Roadhouse. Personally, I think their steaks are better than the aforementioned chains. Believe it or not, one of my favorite items here is the salmon. Their salmon is really good. I guess it should be considering how many seafood restaurants are in the Landry's family of restaurants. Don't be hesitant to order the salmon if you are not really hungry for a steak. Of course, their bread is always a hit although I try to minimize how much I eat do to the excessive calories I am already consuming. Also, since it is a Landry's restaurant, I always use my Landry's Select Club card to reap points for free food in the future. That is always a plus. We haven't been to this place since it opened and we had the worst service/experience ever at that time! This time WOWED us!! We were so glad to FINALLY give it another chance. No wait to be seated at 6:30p on a week night but the place was poppin'. We started with the Rattlers appetizer that was phenomenal and perfect heat/flavor combination. Our salads showed up almost immediately as we took our last appetizer bite. Our drinks were refilled at times without us knowing and dirty dishes were picked up by any server passing by. My husband had steak and I had to try the chicken fried chicken. Although my man finished his entire meal I could only devour about 1/3 and was glad to take the rest home for lunch the following day!! My husband ordered his steak well done which was ok, but my medium ribeye was dry as sand as you can see in the photo, it was poorly garnished & overcooked. I had the BBQ Baby Back Ribs and Shrimp with Mashed Potatoes. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious. The mashed potatoes were just okay. I did not like the shrimp, they were a little tough. We ordered the Ranch Ratlers and they brought them out deep fried. We were confused so we called our server over and he said he didn't understand why they were gluten free either so he called the manager over. They realized that they had made a mistake and apologized over and over again. the server had just not pressed the right button. Usually love Saltgrass but tonight the food did hit hit the spot. I ordered the cheesesteak sandwich. It came with what looked like steakums, poblano peppers, onions and some cheese sauce. Maybe I should have read the ingredients better. I dislike cheese sauce and this one was watery and just yucky. I ate a quarter of the sandwich and had the rest boxed up. The dogs will love it! We ate at the bar and our bartender was very nice and attentive. The whole staff is very good. They all jump in and answer questions or help with anything.
