We had a great meal here last night. Our waiter Derek was great! Very patient with us when we wanted to take our time but never let us run out of water or want for anything. We started with a couple of drinks that really packed a punch! Hubby had the "Urban Cowboy" special which was a New York strip smothered in grilled shrimp and a wonderful sauce. We ordered doordash - the bread wasn't warm and wasn't as soft as I'd hope. The green beans were fried which I usually like but lacking in flavor. The steak was small and not cooked to our liking/order - it was too rare and cold as was all the food. The "smother" topping was packed with flavor and delicious. The salad ingredients were not as supreme as I had hoped- any ice Beth you would get at a grocery chain and tomatoes weren't flavorful or bright red or juicy or peak freshness - the croutons were good- the blue cheese dressing was alright - not too intense... not very thick - obviously it homemade by a chef - I'm concerned the steak wasn't a very good grade - I wish it was cooked correctly Idk if we will even eat it ... the tortilla soup was good but nothing I would order again from the menu - I have tried many tortilla soups and this just didn't "wow" it was good but not I want to drink it good it was also a very tiny portion - and was sort of spilled - not sure if I would be back except for the smother stuff and maybe to try a ribeye - wish the meat was cooked better. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Originally set an reservation for 16 people for my moms birthday dinner. To start it off, it was for 630, half off the party made it on time and wasn't sit until after 730, due to an accident on the property dealing with someone on property with an asult riffle. Party of 12 got seated and was told told off someone else came, they would have to be put on waited list which i didn't understand because it was for 16. 2 more people came, equally to 14, and no arrangement was made. The floor lead came over and was being rude. She began talking to my mom then faces the party and got loud and even ruder: so at this point, we're already at an small table of 12, and she decided to bring 2 chairs to the already crowded table for the extra guest. She tried bringing them menus and we stated no; where was they suppose to put they good and drinks, in they lap and they didn't seem to care. No adjustments were made for the bills or the party and it was ridiculous. To have to deal with the police and having someone with an gun in the restaurant and then be over crowded at an table was a lot. They need to do better for they guest and accommodate when needed, especially when i requested room for 16 to began with. read more

Disappointed today to say the least. Group of 4, plus a baby. I ordered the God awful cheese steak sandwich...wo peppers and onions, salad as the side . I received a huge hoagie bun w not enough meat, disgusting cheese sauce that tasted like the canned cheese and sirracha sause. I left 80% of the bread 50% of the meat. Waiter asked to box it up...i stated it "Was the most disgusting meal I have ever had" ....nary an offer to replace, nor discount was in the future! Or for that matter a query from said waiter or mgmt... everyone else at the table was satisfied with their meal, they received plenty of refills on beverages.... I have severe indigestion as I am lying awake at 150am typing this. I am familiar with Saltgrass's policies, food prep, and training policies. This was one of the few places I would still eat at after being a previous employee! Fortuntly the Humble location is only 200 +/- miles away, so I have no fear of ever returning to this location. I dined at Salt Grass in Humble a month or so ago and sadly, I did not have a good experience. My steak did not come out as ordered and the customer service was poor. I shared the details of my experience directly on the corporate website. I then recieved a timely and pleasant call from a service manager at the restaurant by the name of Abigail to further discuss the review/complaint. Unfortunately, there was no follow through on Abigail's plan/promise to attempt to make me feel like a valued customer and Landrys Club Member. To add insult to injury, when I contacted Abigail to follow-up she again promised to look into the matter and call me back. To this day, I've heard nothing from Abigail or Salt Grass. read more

What a total disappointment and I love Salt Grass...... None of the food that should have been warm was.... cold green beans, baked potato, steak and grilled shrimp..... After being to Saltgrass a few times, I have a pretty good idea of what they're about but I'm never blown away by their food, I always just end up saying "eh." This particular time, we were celebrating a birthday so I gave it another go. To be fair, they were very accommodating to our large party and we even had more room at the table than we needed. Our drink order arrived very fast but there was some confusion on our drinks. My bf ordered a Michelob Ultra and when they brought out his beer, it was a dark beer, it was obvious that it was not Michelob but the problem was fixed, no biggie. For our entrees, I decided on the chicken laredo (grilled chicken with pepper jack cheese, onions and avocado) off of the lunch menu and the bf chose the Vaquero tacos (braised brisket). My entrée was pretty good, the chicken was very tender and the dish was flavorful. It satisfied my hunger but I wouldn't visit Saltgrass again just to have that dish, you know? After receiving our drinks, the service kind of went down hill. We waited a good amount of time to get our entrees and even longer when we wanted our tickets. There was a hot mess going on with the staff though. During our visit, for me and my bf alone we had 3 different servers so we never really could tell who was our actual waiter. But I will say, the gentleman who brought out our drinks and brought out our food was a gem. I forgot his name! :( But he was very polite and helpful and apologized for the beer mix up that wasn't his fault. At the very end of the meal, we saw that they ended up charging us for the wrong beer that they brought out initially AND the Michelob Ultra that we actually ordered, so we had to get that corrected so they could take off the beer that we did not want or drink. This was my first visit ever to this restaurant so I was expecting the wow factor. I got it! When arriving, our server was attentive. He asked what we were drinking. I ordered a pomegranate mojito. He waits for my ID, looks at it, then says "how old are you?" I replied with my age and he gave me my ID back. That was my only complaint really. I know they have to make sure, but really? Asking how old I am? I'm a few years older than the drinking limit, so it's whatever. Now the food. grilled chicken with mac-n-cheese and potato soup. The soup was amazing and had all the right flavors. Easily the best I've tried. The macaroni had a tasty cheese sauce that went beyond my expectations. It was all a bit pricey (58 for the chicken, 12 oz steak, and 2 alcoholic drinks) but was well worth it. You get what you pay for! read more

Ordered our food. Came out so cold wouldn't even melt the butter. Send it back to be thrown on the grill and potato warmed. Came back out just as cold. I was not familiar with this restaurant which seemed like a chain maybe a bit more upscale than Longhorn. I was pleased with basic good food ( ny strip, baked potato and salad). Thought about giving these guys four stars, but honestly they are nailing it on all levels, I can't make any suggestions. If they were to do the Rib-eye steak, any better it would be free....lol. What you get here is a great steak with a couple great sides for around 25-30 bucks. Go into one of the prime steak houses in TX and that's 25-30 bucks is not even going to get you the steak. We keep going here and we keep having hit or miss experiences. More than anything, I think it depends on where we're seated. Out in the main room, we feel like cattle packed into a trailer on our way to the feed lot. Seated in the more quiet areas, much nicer. I also think the service runs a little better in the less crowded areas. Today's food was OK, but on the general trend, I cannot help but feel that the quality of the beef is on the downhill run. It's often not as tender as I would hope and not nearly as flavorful as the price would lead you to think it should be. OK, yeah, it's a steak chain, but dang it, I want flavor of beef, not just a fancy rub and your precious grill marks. This is especially true when the ambiance in your main room is just shy of high school lunch room, the way you have people packed in. I figure we will probably be back, but it's going to be a while for me. read more

I missed the entrance because the sign is blocked by the adjacent Chili's sign and the restaurant is back from the road and blocked by the Chili's building. That should have been my first clue. I was there with a large party of 20 people. The waitress was good but the people who helped sucked. They would randomly plonk dishes down and let us sort it all out. The beer in draft glasses came in those 1200 lb 8 inch thick 'super-large' steins designed to make it look like you're getting a humoungo beer, but you are actually getting less than a standard pint. The first beer was cold, the second warm. I had a New York Strip. Ordered medium, it came with a faint amount of pink, more like medium well. The steak had that grainy texture of beef that had been in the freezer way too long. The accompanying onion rings were good. Coconut shrimp was pronounced to be good, but the ribs were dry and bland. The salad was meh, with 2 each token slices of tomato and cucumber to distinguish it from "Bowl of limp iceberg". Like too many places, the interior was deafening. I don't know how this place got the "Best of" in Austin and San Antonio. Both cities seem to have good taste in food. read more

Consistently good. The steaks are flavorful and tender and made out of high quality beef, if sometimes not prepared correctly, but they bring out a new steak if there are any problems. The service is usually above average, but the prices are a little on the expensive side. I must mention the steak soup: it's the best soup I've ever had. I frequent this location often. So often, that within the last 2 weeks, I've been at least 5 times, if not more. So imagine my disappointment to have enjoyed a meal and drink with my sister in law, then after taking a few sips of my water, discover a roach floating in it!!! I was beyond disturbed and disgusted. I panicked and got the glass away as soon as possible as I am beyond terrified of bugs! Needless to say I didn't get a photo, but can guarantee, I will never EVER come back to this establishment. I must say, I'm not a fan of the Landry's chain of restaurants, because in general they are just not good. I've tried this steakhouse two times and both times I was disappointed. The Porterhouse and on another occasion the New York Strip had an ok flavor and the temperature was correct, but the grade of steak they use (I would guess select) left large inedible chewy bits in both steaks and I'm not talking fat I mean grisssle. Their salads are just salads and the bread just bread So...Meh. I've experienced better...a whole lot better. read more

Celebrating the new year with family what place would be good food and great service saltgrass. We decide to go to the humble location everything was good up until I received my pats ribeye. The ribeye had an unpleasant after taste; at first I was thinking you're crazy you're taste buds have to be off. Well after letting my hubby and my sister taste it; they experienced the same unpleasant taste. I informed the manager and he removed the steak from our bill and offered to make another one but I declined. Eveything else was spot on and delicious. So if I want a steak while I am in this area, this is the place I have in mind. They have a well trained staff that will wait on you and attend to your needs. The staff is friendly and helpful if you have special requests. I have yet to turn back a steak or have large complaints about any meal that I have been served here.
