Have not been to Saltgrass in awhile and tonight our server was Kevin (Kevin 7), he was AMAZING!!! Extremely thorough, made sure what we ordered and how we ordered our food is how it was served. He he did not rush us. He was very professional and personable. Not only was service EXCEPTIONAL but he made us laugh, great conversation! The BEST time we've ever had at this location! Next time we come to Saltgrass and we will only come to this location now because of Kevin and we will always ask for him! Very disappointed. Went last fri with a large group of people I order ny strip asked 3x that it be prepared Med well lite pink. When it arrived it was rare told server they agreed and sent it back. Everyone was finished eating by the time I got it back and it was BURNT LITTERALY dried out. Not to mention the price increase of 27. For that steak is truly outrageous. I called and finally after several Attempts I get general mgr ken called me. I truly felt he was defending their food and acted as if I was deliberately complaining, terrible customer service. Horrible customer service I ordered a water, Molina gave me Coke. Whenever my mom ordered a steak medium done, her steak was brought to her medium well. When my mom also ordered some salad without croutons of course there were croutons on the salad. When my younger sister asked for macaroni and cheese and fries, her fries were nasty and her food was cold. Whenever I asked for a kids hamburger and fries, both items were cold and tasted nasty! WONT ever go there again! Total waste of money and she was very unfriendly from the beginning. When my food was ready in the back she never brought it. It's a roadhouse kind of place. Packed to the gills, and with noise to match. NY Strip was like shoe leather - fries were cold when they got to the table. In all fairness, it was a Saturday evening and the wait staff was trying very hard to keep up. Took close to an hour to get our "food". Sorry, we won't be going back. Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I've had! Kevin 7 was amazing. He started out by asking our names and addressed us the whole time by our names when spoken to individually. He asked if we have been to a Saltgrass location previously and we explained that this was our first time and that we are from the Northeast, specifically Maine. He then went over the menu by pointing out the different styles of food offered (meats, seafood, appetizers, etc.), while providing his personal opinion favorites and the local recognized favorites as well. He informed us some of the locally sourced menu items such as the bread or drinks. We placed our order of drinks, appetizer, and entre meals. Kevin inquired our plans for the evening to ensure we had prompt service if we had an event to arrive on time for. As we were eating our meals, other servers made sure we had clean silverware to start the main meal, refilled waters and removed finished off plates. It was a team effort executed flawlessly. Word was spread through the service staff that we were from Maine and we were engaged multiple times with conversations about being from the Northeast. The location manager approached us to ask how our experience was for the evening and gave us some background on our server Kevin. This was perfectly fine by us to talk about. Kevin ended the experience by recommending the dessert menu which did have a very good selection of choices, some were not for children consumption. We would recommend going back to this location. My husband, son and a few of our friends from Idaho went for an early dinner here on a Friday at 5:00 p.m. and were seated right away. Our server, Dario, introduced himself to our table of six and took our drink orders, as well as our appetizer order. After our appetizers came out, we placed our orders. I had the filet with peppercorn and cognac sauce. My husband ordered Pat's ribeye and mashed potatoes, my son the same thing. I also ordered the wedge salad and the rest of our table had the caeser salad. My wedge was very good and everyone like their caeser salads. Our order came out pretty promptly (we were there before the rush hour) and our food was hot. My stead was cooked perfectly to medium-rare and it was delicious. Dario, our server was awesome! He was right on point and was always checking on us, so we left him a $60 tip. I sure hope he gets recognized for his great service. We all said we'd definitely go back. read more

We love Salt Grass but today so far hasn't been a good experience. Waited at the table for a sever for 15 min and then the person helping our server only brought two waters instead of 4. Then after finally they took our order and after the salads come out (10min) she comes to tell us that they are out of prime rib so great! Not! Let's see how the rest of the dinner goes. We went to Saltgrass in Katy this evening to celebrate my father-in-laws 95th birthday. We told the waitress about the occasion when we arrived and were promptly seated. We gave our waiter our Select Member number when we ordered drinks, an appetizer and four steaks. All of the steaks were over cooked, and my father-in-law's steak was so dry he couldn't cut it with a knife or eat it. We told the waiter about the over cooked steaks and he apologized, offered no compensation and said he would bring our bill. I followed the waiter to their check stand and asked what they were doing for the birthday celebration. I was told they only do special desserts for the Select Members ... I reminded him we were a Select Member ... He replied "Oh, I can bring out something if you want". By that time I told him this was the worst experience we have ever had and please just give us the bill. As we were waiting for him to run the credit card for $177, a manager actually came by the table to see how our evening was going! Seriously?? read more

Have no idea what's going on with this restaurant lately - our last visit was horrible. The waitress did not take our order for almost half an hour even though we kept asking for her to do so. She forgot to bring some of the food with the order and when asked about it, she acted like it was no biggie.....well, it was and we never did get it. And, $30 for a steak for lunch!!!!!! On 8 August 2012 @ 7:30 PM my wife and I sat at the bar and ordered a beer each. First beer of the day so I was no where near intoxicated. Half way through our first beer the bartender and the manager moved some rubber flooring out of the way of a cooler and pulled the cooler out. The bartender was pulling out some plastic jugs from the floor area. Not sure what happened but when they were finished the bartender started pouring drinks for other customers. One in particular was turning a bottle of beer upside down and into a large glass (drink). He then appraoched us and asked if we were ready to order. I asked him why was he serving drinks when he did not wash his hands after doing all that on the floor and moving the dirty rubber mat that is walked on. He said he was terribly sorry. I told him I was not going to order any food since he did that. His manager came behind the bar at the other end and we could see him talking with the manager. The manager started walking towards us and then simply just turned around. The bartender came to us and asked if the manager talked to us. I told him what the manager did. He said the manager was sorry for what happened. I told the bartender that he could not have been that soory since he did not say anything to us and it appeared that he could have cared less. Needles to say my wife and I paid our two beer tab and left. I was not looking for anything free nor will I post where we ate at another resturant. This post is simply to let the public know about the hygene of this restuarant. I've eaten many time at Saltgrass and no matter what happens we will never eat there again...Nasty to say the least. read more

Took my wife out for a date. Saturday night. Even though there was a crowd we were seated and severed in a reasonable amount of time. The food was good but our server, Amy was fantastic. She took good care of all our needs and even offered to help by wife, who has to use a walker, go to the restroom. Saltgrass Steak House in Katy is one of my favorite restaurants. The food and the atmosphere is always consistently good. The hostesses always seat you very quickly. The reason I gave it three stars is because I took my wife on a date there last night when the place was packed. The waiter seemed to forget about us. I understand that they were very busy, but I was disappointed that my waiter (who was a very nice guy!) did not check on us to see if we needed anything! I kept looking around for him until finally another employee who was walking by asked me if I needed anything. I just wish this stars could go negative. So me and hubby decide to come out for dinner. We walked in and we were greeted well. So far, so good. We were walked to our table. Our waiter, i think her name was Justine, comes by and takes our drink orders. She then disappears. I ordered water... Sooooo... She probably went to purify it herself. Some other waiter brought out our drinks. Then comes the second wait. We sat there waiting for her to come back to take our orders. Guess what???? Some other waiter comes over and said she is taking over. Me and my hubby look at each other like, did she clock out? Hmm... Oh well... Its understandable. So she takes our order and leaves. Justine comes back!!!! Asks if we have been helped!!!! She is still here!!!! Then we get our salads. I have never eaten anything worse than this!!! The lettuce were soooo tough, you couldn't stub them with a fork. The cheese was chewy and the lettuce had a bitter taste. Yuck!!! Then came the THIRD wait. We sat at the table waiting for a good 20 or more for our food to come out. And it does, its luke warm. Sooooooooo what were they doing all this time if all they did was pop the food in the warmer??? For a steak house, with a clear view of the kitchen, you should be able to see smoke everywhere in that kitchen. There wasnt even a puff of smoke!!!! Then during the whole time we were eating, not one person came to ask if everything was ok. I saw a manager go to the table next to us to ask but never ours. Then came the FORTH wait!!! Waiting for the check!!!! We waited so much, my butt was now fully frozen from all that dang AC. Then when she finally showed up, we got into the FIFTH wait. Mind you, when i say wait, i mean an unusual wait. And the dining room was not that busy. I thought about flagging down a manager, but what good will that do??? So i figured, i might as well warn the next person. Please hard working people, dont take your hard earned money here!!! You are better of going to another food chain. I went to have dinner with my wife. Our server johnathan I think did a good job. However, we ordered two pats ribeyes like we always get one medium, and one Pittsburgh style medium rare. Typically when I order my Pittsburgh style steak I clarify to the waiter how may or may not know that I want it blackened and seared on the outside and medium rare. Needless to say it took 3 steaks to get my Pittsburgh style steak right right. What really got me was the fact that the manager or supervisor (some lady) stepped in. I felt like she talked to us as if we were kids which was a slap in the face but i shrugged that off. She delivered the second steak which looked to be a rare steak and not charred at all. It actually looked more like a rare pork chop with a light brown tint to the whole thing or rather like a steak/pork chop you'd get from some run down 24hr diner. As she handed it to me she asked if it was charred enough. Of course right off the back I said no because there was absolutely no charred part of the steak. I wanted to show her what it was on google but I preceded to let her bring me another steak. I mean does she even know what that means. I mean if you work in a steakhouse (let alone the restaurant industry) you should know what Pittsburgh style is. The 3rd steak came out better but was too raw. I didn't want to go back and forth anymore so I accepted it. We have been going to salt grass as our go to place for a few years now and I don't know what to really say but I really am considering finding another steakhouse. Today was my wife's birthday and given it was traffic hour, we debated where to eat. The tie breaker was we could use backstreets to reach Saltgrass. Also the rewards card had a $25 birthday credit on it....sweet! Not just some free dessert or 10%, but $25 = wow! My wife ordered the wedge salad and the sirloin with fried shrimp, me I went old school and ordered the chicken fried steak. The wedge salad was awesome, a quarter head of lettuce with Gorgonzola cheese and bacon hits. The dressings, on the side were a basal mic and blue cheese. The basal mic was outstanding. Great salad! My salad, hit so much, a Cesar salad, but the dressing was blah and the lettuce from the bottom of the day old bag. Wife's steak was medium rare, perfect and tasty. The shrimp numbered 5 but nothing special. In all a good meal. Chicken fried steak was good. The crust fell off the meat, but no too bad. The meat a bit bland, needed some pepper. White gravy good. Fir her birthday, both of us received a bowl of Blue Bell vanilla with caramel and chocolate....for FREE. Very nice! I haven't been to Saltgrass in a while but decided to give it a try last weekend. We sat down and no one took our drink order for about 10 minutes. Multiple servers walked by but no one greeted us. They finally came to take our drink order. Someone else came up and took our breed and plates that we were not finished with. We received our salads and told the server we needed utensils. He did not bring them and we had to ask someone walking by. I ordered a alcoholic drink and someone else took it and I was not offered another one. I was not able to ask since servers were running by. I was not sure who our actual server was because we had 4 different people come to our table. At the end, we were charged for extra drinks on our tab. One of the servers removed it. The whole experience was really disorganized. I am really disappointed in this location. They really need help with customer service and organization. read more

The service was so poor we finally requested the food to go. We were left with dirty plates from the salads and the appetizers.. The food was not prepared properly. We explained that we would take the food to go that it would be better to eat it in our hotel rooms than to sit around a bunch of dirty dishes. If you have the choice between going here and going somewhere else by all means go somewhere else. 80 bucks is a lot of money to spend to sit around a bunch of dirty dishes and you cant even get to go silverware. read more

Hoping to have a wonderful Easter dinner today, we were sorely disappointed. Save your money and time. Took forever for the food to come to our table, when it did one of the meals was "right behind" which ended up being another 15 mins. All our meals were getting cold, and when the missing Sriracha chicken came, it was over cooked and tough, sitting on a bed of foul smelling brussel sprouts that were mixed in with the recycled potatoes they try to call steak fries. They try to sell you the smothering for your potatoes because it is the only thing that will allow you to choke them down. My crab cake was cold and not very flavorful and the length of time we had to wait for food was ridiculous. That's $90 we will never see again... Try something else... read more

We are Landry's Select members. Eat at Saltgrass at least once a week, mostly for lunch. We went to Saltgrass on a busy Saturday night. First thing I commented on was how loud it was in this Saltgrass. We were a large party of 9. The drink orders & appetizers were taken well and tasted good. When our entrees were delivered, the waitstaff brought a prime rib split three ways for three adults. The order was for three separate prime ribs. If you think that someone is ordering one prime rib split three ways....YOU BETTER BE SURE THAT IS WHAT WAS ORDERED. So, one of us took the three slices of prime rib. The other two ate nothing because, guess what.... they were out of prime rib!!!! Prime rib was over cooked, as was one of the filets. Our family meal was ruined because my in laws, who ate nothing were so upset by the mistake. This was an important meal to our family as we had a last meal with a college bound child and our international guest. Manager made a very cursory stop by. We were charged full price for the meal. We will pass on this location in the future. There is a reason it is rated lower than other stores. read more

Waiter seem attentive and OK until he pulled a totally weasle-y stunt of telling us they were out of mixed veggies as the side dish but could offer asparagus or broccoli instead. Sure - gimme the asparagus,( not knowing he was charging us $2.50 extra). I called him on it when I discovered that (after having just paid the bill) but all I got was a sorry. Their failure to keep enough normal veggies in the house is their problem, not mine. The susbtitution of the others greens should have been at no charge. The stuffed shrimp was like a shrimp-flavored salt lick. Flavor was OK but obviously enough sodium to kill people if eaten more than once and obviously crafted to sell more beverages. read more

A decent steakhouse with great service! The absolute best thing on the menu is their Carrot Cake! It's big, creamy, and reminiscent of homemade cake by your mama. The bacon wrapped shrimp are also really good, as is the steak soup. read more

He offered to bring more bread-10 minutes later someone else brought it-Before we had finished eating our dinner he came back & advised here is the desert menu if you want desert & if not here is the bill-& walked away-I've been to this location many times & have never had these things happen before. read more

Worst hostesses ever! We made a reservation for 10 people last night for a 6pm birthday party. I arrived early (15 mins) to decorate the table, but it wasn't ready. No big deal, but the hostesses didn't even start setting up the table until 10 mins AFTER our reservation, and everyone was there by 5:50. It wasn't like the tables were occupied. They were completely empty, just not set up, and the hostesses (3 of them) couldn't have cared less. Once we finally got to the table, we asked for a baby carrier holder or high chair. Our poor waitress had to ask the hostesses THREE times for this. They finally brought it when the salads arrived but after the baby woke up. Was it be they were busy? Not at all. They were too interested in chatting and being on their phones. Our waitress busted her butt to make things right, and i feel bad if she has to share a tip pool with those mindless hostesses. If any management is reading this, clean house! The hostesses give the first impression and if they can't even act like they care or make an effort, then they have no business representing the rest of the staff and management. I know. I was a hostess through law school. It's not a clique or chance to socialize; it's a job. Act like you care. read more

Horrible horrible horrible went to go celebrate my birthday went in no wait YESSSS! Well we were seated and fast but we soon found out why no wait. We asked for chicken tenders for my son which was on the menu and waiter said no we don't have that platter any longer. Wth! Really and my other son and his friend said well there goes what we wanted the tender and shrimp platter he said oh no we have that one. I was how can u have that but not the tender platter he said you can order 2 of shrimp and tender to get 4 tenders I was like I don't want to have to pay double. So I asked for my platter coconut shrimp and he said no we don't have that either REALLY!! Ok than we are leaving cause that was the main reason we wanted to come for my birthday to get my favorite.
