So the service ended up being great AFTER I had to indirectly talk to the other guess I was with about receiving "bad service" from another waitress. Either way it worked. So having worked in food service and understanding the climate of our current state(covid) let's be mindful that yes, you can be an anti vaxxer, you can be an anti masker, but NOT in the kitchen while preparing someone's food. We were really excited to try this place out especially since we every time we tried to go there was over an hour wait. Big disappointment. Ordered the man sangria and a Long Island ice tea with the chuck wagon cheese fries. The first sangria was really good but the second one didn't even taste the same - it tasted like fruit punch with alcohol not sure what was up with that and didn't even drink it. The Long Island ice tea tastes like fake lemonade. The fries are not actual fries they are chunks of potatoes with barely any cheese. I ordered the filet with Mac and cheese and my husband ordered the strip with mashed potatoes. Neither of our steaks had any real flavor and my steak was suppose to be medium well but in was medium till the end and somehow became medium rare - gross. The mac and cheese was dry - again they amaze me how they do this! My husband said his steak was too fatty and the potatoes were bland. A very consistent and pleasurable dining experience. They have great service and many of the servers have been there since my first trip. There steaks are quite good and cooked expertly. To get a better steak you would have to pay double. The salads are great and the vaquero tacos are an all time favorite. This is the best Saltgrass I've been to and that's why I keep coming back. The only thing good about this restaurant is the waite staff. The front hostess is very rude and the manager Terrel very defensive and does not care at all about customer service. We were there with large party, I did call a head seating that didn't seem to matter. Hubby was in the mood for some steak so we decided on Saltgrass. We arrived and were told it would be a 20 minute wait so, we headed to the bar and ordered some drinks as we waited for our table. We were sat at our table and a sweet and quite the conversationalist server named Eden greeted us and told us she'd be taking care of us. She brought out bread and butter which was freshly pulled out of the oven and simply scrumptious! We also ordered rattler bites as an appetizer which are lightly fried stuffed shrimp, crab, & jack cheese jalapeños. They were perfect... Spicy but, well really tasty. For our main entrees my hubby ordered the Ny-Strip with a side garden salad and a baked potato and I ordered The Salmon Oscar with a Cesar salad and a baked potato. Our salads were brought out and they too were really fresh and tasty. Finally our entrees were brought out and they looked delicious. Unfortunately, my salmon was overly seasoned with the blackening seasoning which left it salty. Luckily I had extra lemons I ordered with my water so, it took care of the problem. What can I say I am a fan, THIS LOCATION never fails to wow me. I really love that this location is not super crowded compared to the Humble location. Plus their steaks always come out with the perfect amount of seasoning. But,....my all time favorite item would be their stuffed shrimp. Came in tonight for a date with my husband. We both wanted ribeye and weren't disappointed. Our waiter was very young and obviously nervous. I splurged and ordered a martini. Poor thing asked me if I wanted it shaken or on the rocks. I'm not complaining about our service, on the contrary, I watched the staff work as a team to help train a new waiter. Before he brought our drinks, a fellow waiter stopped him at the bar and walked him through how to hold a tray and serve the glass. He forgot to get our salads and I saw our food come up (we were next to the kitchen window). Someone took him through the process and the manager, Alex, came over to explain the mistake. He didn't pretend something went wrong or there was a mistake, he simply said the server forgot. We were fine with it. Alex also talked our server through what to do next and how to avoid the problem in the future. We just wanted a little time away from the kids and a nice meal we got that.
