This is a great place to grab a filling sandwich for a lunch! Came here around noon during my lunch break to get something quick, and there was a short line ahead of me. It's a small venue with a few tables, so it looks like it could definitely get crowded. I ordered the Glorious Bastard sandwich and it was exactly what I wanted: a perfect ratio of turkey to veggies, some bacon for a salty crunch, all on Dutch crunch bread with garlic mayo. Portion-wise, I saved half for dinner, so it felt like I got my money's worth haha. On top of that, the staff is very friendly and seem like they enjoy serving the city some delicious sandwiches. I've always passed by this place during lunch and there's always people there...now I know why. We waited 45 mins for our sandwiches. Everyone else either ordered online or thru the phone. We saw a bunch of orders being done before ours and people coming and going. We were getting hungrier and hungrier. It smelled so good in there and we just kept on waiting and waiting... There was another lady there that also waited a long time. She seemed frustrated. We were the only ones that didn't seem to have ordered ahead of time. Eventually our order came out and we had to rush back to work. Due to the time crunch, I did not check my order. Two of our orders did not have the requested bread change. I can see that the workers were working thru the lunch hour traffic and doing the best they can for those 45 mins of us waiting, so I didn't really care too much...plus at that point we were too hungry to be picky. Wow! By far the best vegan sandwich I've ever had! I tried the Habibi sandwich since I'm currently fasting for Orthodox Lent, and it was absolutely delicious. Earlier this year Salty's was featured in one of the top 100 places to eat in the Bay Area in 2022, and after trying it a couple times, it's easy to see why. And for those that know me, I love me my sandwiches. On my latest visit, I decided to go with the 'Glorious Bastard' sandwich, which come with turkey, bacon, avocado, pepper jack, veggies, and garlic mayo. The blend of flavors and high quality of the turkey is no wonder it's at the very top of the menu list. It's one of those sandwiches, that you can bring to park and not need a ton of napkins to get through. It was well put together, with the ratio of all the ingredients matching well. Nothing overpowering, just sandwich perfection. The size of the sandwich I thought was the perfect size for my appetite. As I've gotten older I can't put down as much food as I used to, and after one-half I knew I could've stopped eating, be content, saved the rest for later. But of course I ate the whole thing and nothing sounds better than taking a quick power nap right after. I love that their menu has so many different sandwich combinations, so definitely take time to check their menu before calling-in/walking-in to order because it'll definitely save you some time. Yep, yet another sandwich spot that's righteous. Remember on Friends, when Joey was so obsessed with all things sandwich? Well, I feel him. It's the perfect lunch for when you need more than a boring salad. The first thing on the menu is their Glorious Bastard. I try to get things exactly how the maker/owner envisioned it, so I order as is. $11 It's a turkey bacon avocado with Gouda cheese and some other stuff. On the ubiquitous Dutch crunch roll. First off the size. It's large. I finished it off, but man was I full. And full of smiles. The turkey was excellent and tasted fresh. There was some kinda season to it, buy couldn't figure it out. The Gouda I first thought was weird, but it pairs really well with the rest of the sandwich. But for me, it's really the bread that makes or breaks it. And this Dutch crunch roll is on point. Not too tough, but with just enough bite to it. So good, I could eat the roll by itself. I'll be back to try some other stuff, but this place is legit. read more

And I have a deli sandwich at least twice a month to satisfy that craving. ;) If you're familiar with the area, Salty's is located where Philz used to be on Van Ness and Eddy. Salty's look like one of those spots where you can easily overlook when you're in a hurry, but OMG, every bite I took was perfection. So sandwich fans, you MUST try Salty's. I would've ordered from their signature sandwiches but I wanted to choose my own bread, so by default, I built my own sandwiches. The chicken salad was refreshing, lots of mayo, so if you're not into it, then skip this. The hot pastrami was juicy, not too salty, and it really hit the spot. The lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapeños were all fresh, crisp, and bread was toasted nicely. Salty's isn't huge nor is it like Ike's or your typical Subway. My lawyer is across the street and he recommended this spot. First off the fellow behind the counter was great, making jokes w/the customers and efficient. I wanted to try the Glorious Bastard since it seems to be the most popular sandwich but they had a special sandwich on the menu which was called the Mushroom melt... roast beef (Keyword : Boar's Head!), swiss cheese, & sauteed mushrooms, with a garlic mayo on sliced sourdough (just over$17 total). I had to try it! DELICIOUS! I'm from New York so I was sad when I didn't see any cream soda, but I had a root beer. I suggested cream soda to the fellow behind the counter & he smiled & told me about the deli his dad used to own downtown on Montgomery St (for 35 years) & he sold cream soda. Shadi and his pops co-own this hidden gem and have a curated--but mighty!--list of creative puntastic sammiches for hungry patrons to enjoy. ⁣ ⁣ We ordered up the InstaCran (Turkey, Cranberry, Arugula & Za'atar Cream Cheese on Dutch Crunch) and the Pastrami Papi (Pastrami, Swiss, Pepperoncini, Dijon & Garlic Mayo on Rye).⁣ ⁣ Turkey-Cranberry sandwiches are some of our favorite and this was probably one of the best! We loved how the sauce wasn't too sweet, the peppery kick from the arugula added a nice flavor and the creamy Za'atar Cream Cheese really sealed the deal. ⁣ ⁣ But, as great as that was, the Pastrami Papi was AMAZING!
