Disclaimer: I also shared this review on Google because I'm too lazy to write a completely new one…read more My trusty laptop of 7 years was starting to die on me, and I desperately needed it to be repaired ASAP. IQ Services reached out so fast after I had put out a request on Yelp, and they even picked it up from me! Marcus was a gem and helped send over some files that I wasn't able to back up before handing him my laptop. He definitely went above and beyond. He was extremely responsive, and I got my laptop back and sheeee isss looking cutee!!! It's like I have a brand-new laptop. To be transparent with costs and services: I paid for a diagnosis ($99), a new battery ($52), and repairs/replacements for my keyboard, webcam, computer screen, and whatever else was messed up ($399). Even though it seemed like a lot, it really is not when you think about the context. --I got to keep my 7-year-old computer that I LOVE, and now it feels brand new. A new laptop with the exact same processor/ram would've killed my bank account. I also live in NYC usually, and I KNOW this would've been WAY more. --I know NOTHING about fixing computers. While I can do YouTube searches to do minor software troubleshoots, I don't even know how to open up a laptop to see what's inside. --They're professionals who have gained years of knowledge, education, and experience to be able to do this. It might seem like a couple of days of work, but it's years of time and money put into learning this craft. --I didn't have to leave my home. There was no driving to a store or finding time to pick it up. It's like DoorDash but with your computer. --They're family-owned, Black-owned, and veteran-owned. Stop giving Apple or whatever corporation your money!! Shop small and shop local. Invest in your community. One super minor thing that ALL computer repair services should do: I do wish they had loaner laptops or something available because I had to scramble to find a laptop to use in the meantime.

Super friendly, very helpful, and very good price! My laptop wouldn't even start due to a faulty…read moredrive which IQ was able to replace after only a few days. Highly recommended!

A couple of months ago, my trusty iMac of ~5 years booted up with the grey folder of death. I did…read moreinitial diagnostics myself and suspected a hard drive problem. After taking it to a computer shop in Arlington, they told me my hard drive was cooked and suggested I contact Barnabas Data Recovery. I had previously had the computer set to backup to an external drive, but for whatever reason the default save folder for the backup went from an external drive to the drive that had crashed. I was a little panicky, but I after speaking with Barnabas, my fears were put at ease. Barnabas sensed the importance of me retrieving my data fast and bent over backwards to get it back. They charged a diagnostic fee to see if they could in fact get the data back. Provided they could get the data back, they'd charge my the full price for recovering my data. Other places that I'd contacted on my own offered to take a peek at the drive and attempt to recover the data for $1,500-$2,000. Barnabas was $199 to diagnose and $1,299 extra if they could get the data. One minor annoyance was they charged extra to put a few files I needed fast on an FTP site. Additionally, they do mark up their hard drives, so if they can retrieve your data, you can save a a little by bringing your own hard drive. If you ever lose critical data, Barnabas should be your first call. They do a fantastic job at a great price.

Liars and thieves, nothing more. They promised they would return my drive and refund my money if…read morethey couldn't retrieve my data. They did neither. They made excuse after excuse, and told like after like, and I still don't have my drive back after months of attempts, and to get my money back I had to have my credit card issuer to a charge back. And then Barnabas tried to charge my card again! I guess they hoped I wouldn't notice it, but my bank caught it. This attempt to charge my card without authorization is fraud and grand larceny, and I'm going to file a criminal complaint with the local police. Go to them at your own peril: you'll never see your data, drive or money again if they have their way.
