Mike over at DriveCrash should be the first person you contact if you value your files. Their location is COVID friendly, everyone there wore masks, and there's plenty of parking. After Mike opened up one of my drives, he saw that the previous shop had caused irreversible damage. However, the good news was he was able to recover a portion of the drive which was not as damaged. The second drive had better luck and was able to be fully recovered. Communication was excellent in person, by phone, and through email. Mike was able to provide live updates and walked me through any questions/concerns I had. While data recovery is not the cheapest process, I was given a reasonable price and had my files back within a week.
