This would get a higher rating but it just peeves me that there is such a huge tax for paying with card and no way to pay in cash. Something like 3%. The bar also has absolutely no other drinks besides beer so I ended up having to make 2 payments on the app just to get a gross Fresca ($4)?? It said Fresca but it was really some sort of nasty seltzer Fresca mix that tasted horrible. Service was slow, I get it, it's a pop-up. But don't expect to get in and out. Pupusas were just okay. The beans however were not great, too dry. There was no loroco in the pupusas I ordered that were supposed to have some. They said they put bell peppers in with the cheese but they must have been some invisible bell peppers. Everything needed more onion. I honestly feel bad. Bc Portland needs some quality pupusas. I just don't think this is the place to get them. read more

I got the nachos and a papusa, and both are incredible. The nacho plate is huge! All of the beers (i tried 3) are wonderful! And this is coming from someone who does eat gluten regularly. The service was great - everyone I interacted with was personable and kind. The lighting is cozy without being dim, and the noise level is very comfortable. read more

I had an odd experience today. My party ordered two sets of two pupusas and guacamole both within a one minute of each other (on different credit cards). The first guac came out about 30 min after we ordered and second set another 10 min. The avocados were hard and not ripened enough. The chips were what I would think is the end of a bag, or the broken ones and stale. That made the dipping hard and we all ended up with guac all over us. The people making the food then saw we were one table (though they said "table one" so I assumed they knew already?) you think they would bring all the pupusas together. Nope half the table got them at the 45min mark. They served someone else then we got ours after an hour. I mentioned to the lady that it was an hour after we ordered and she said it was busy. When we walked in they had served one other person. The pupusas were awful. Over salty, no flavor and the ratio cheese was wrong. The fry on them was off. I did not eat mine. Overcharged- looking at my bill they charge the customer a 3% credit card fee (they make you order online) but they also chard "Tax credit card fee", mine was $1.22. We don't have any tax in Oregon. I always search out pupusas, porque megusta mucho, pero Estos eran horibles Bummer and it made us late to our next thing. Highlight, the beer was awesome. Salvi PDX catered our wedding. We discussed multiple times the food and time of arrival. They were over 2 hours late and my guests were served cocktail hour food 45 mins late. Dinner was 15 mins after and people were confused why it was immediately after. All food was cold as they did not have any warming elements to keep food to temperature. They left out food that we ordered and paid for. Pupusas were mushy and cold and nothing like in the restaurant. Do not use them to cater your event. So much added stress on my wedding day walking down the aisle and keeping owing the caterer wasn't even there yet. So disappointed and only recieved a $100 refund. Very unprofessional and lied to me about everything. Unsafe to serve meat without warmers. Avoid them at all costs.​ read more

The food is always awesome and takes me home. The owners are so sweet and they're always coming up with new ways to serve Salvadoran food which keeps me coming back for more. Our goal for Nacho week was to hit some places we've always wanted to, but never have. Salvi was high on that list. Everything they've put out for food weeks has always looked amazing, but the limited hours has always made it tougher for us to come. This time we made a point to come here, and I truly regret not coming here before, thinking about all the good food weeks we missed out on. We got the nachos to go, and while ordering from the QR code on the bar was a bit of a challenge (didn't seem like anyone else could get it to scan either), they were really awesome about it, and our food came out quickly. For how busy it was, I was surprised how fast it came out, and how on top of it they seemed. I absolutely loved the Mole touch, this was one of my top Nachos of nachos week! For those of you who have previously had Salvadoran papusas then you will need to reset expectations. I'm not sure exactly what was going on but these were really not much like any papusas I have ever had and I've been to a lot of papusarias. The seafood ceviche was tasty but considering how different the papusas are it just wasn't to my taste. read more

Im from Chicago and I have eaten pupusas since I was a kid. I was hesitant about the price but the size to money ratio checks out. One Salvi pupusa is about the equivalent to two regular ones. I've had pupusas from all over El Salvador/Chicago/gourmet pupusas and these are in my top three. They're loaded with a tremendous amount of cheese. The staff was amazing. Will definitely be stopping here next time I visit. read more

Our table got pupusas and the hotdog. They were both fantastic but what I really liked were the tater tots. Prefect crispy outside. Quite possibly the best tater tot I've had in Portland, or ever. Back to the hotdog, so good. Bacon wrapped and topped with lots of deliciousness. The pupusas were much more filling than I would have thought. Got two but probably would have been fine with one. I think one would be a good snack and two you've got a meal. Will definitely be coming back for more! read more

Family-owned business of super-nice people serving great Salvadoran street food. Had the pupusa with revuelta (pork, beense, cheese) and the elote. Came with slaw. Thanks for the chance to try the Pupusa burger for the special Burger Week! Yes this place was VERY busy and the staff were pleasant and no doubt hard working, but the wait time was altogether too long. After waiting 15 minutes in line, then being told to order food on the online system, 1 hour and 55 minutes passed before I received my TO GO order on a regular plate. Sure the burger was tasty, though I've only had a few homemade pupusas before and the fries were underdone. The agua fresca was very chunky and wholesomely delicious. I do like to support gluten free establishments, but I would only go back if I could order ahead or not go on a night with a major promotion or deal. Maybe the higher volume online ordering system isn't compatible with a smaller kitchen? The burgers also sold out before 7:30 pm on a weeknight, so Salvi is doing something right anyway.... read more

If you're Salvadoran or have had authentic pupusas, then don't try these pupusas. They are highly overpriced and do not represent the authentic pupusa. The sauce tastes as if it came from a can, and the curtido had one ingredient - where are the carrots, onion, and oregano? Also, the choices are very limited - what's with the bell peppers? And please add beans to the beans and cheese pupusa. Sadly, we (sis and I) were highly disappointed with these so-called pupusas. read more

Unlike other pupusarias in Portland, they use no fillers in their food (the ceviche is all business, no added junk) and they bring ingredients straight from El Salvador. Some people have complained about the price, but if you want cheap Latino food you should stick to Taco Bell. I'm a Salvi from Cali that loves to try pupusas everywhere I go and NOT ONE can compare to Salvi PDX!! The ceviche is also a MUST HAVE! Blew my mind the first time I tried it and now I can't get my pupusas without the ceviche! The quality of the food and portion sizes are perfect! The food is so authentic and made with love every single time! Los elotes and the tamales also hit the spot!! Love the little things like their social media content and the packaging is so pretty!
