Quick. Friendly and very reasonable. I have an old safe that was given to me when my previous company shut down. The safe has two unique safety features that makes it very difficult to open without knowing the combination. Salz looked at photos of my safe and sent their staff the next day to reset the combination for me. The staff (sorry can't remember his name) was very nice and took the time to explain how to open the complex safe. I can't express enough how thankful I'm to their great service. Here is my experience with Salz Lock & Safe. At first I went to Aloha Key, wanted to buy a high security deadbolt and knob lock, they got it done the next day which I was very impressed. But later I found out those were not Medeco, so they told me I have to wait 2 weeks, okay, I waited, 20 days later I called the lady put me on the phone over 20 minutes just to check my order status, so ridiculous, and I had to call again, finally she said my order will be another 2-3 weeks, what? I think they lied to me from the beginning or they forgot to put in the order. So i told them to cancel it. And then I went to Salz. The lady Ellen at Salz was very professional and friendly, when I mentioned the Medeco lock, she said they have them, that was a plus, and she told me that would cost more than the regular locks, which I knew and I appreciated. She got the deadbolt and knob lock keyed, and got it done the same day, and I picked up the locks she even spent time to teach me how to install those locks, great personality, just such a sweet lady. And a few days later I went there to purchase 2 more set of the Medeco locks, met Gary and Marks, the technicians, fantastic people. Provided excellent service. I read some One star review for Salz Lock&Safe, which I think its a bit unfair, those guy are most experienced locksmith on the island, if they can't cut a key for you, no one else can on this island. If you don't believe me you can do your research. They might not have sweetest tone, or big smile on their face, but they're friendly, experienced, and their price is very reasonable. After I could not get my key done at a different location. I went here because of their good reviews. They are very knowledgeable about keys and the staff was very helpful. I didn't have to wait or ask someone to help me. A lovely lady went straight to me to help me. I ask for two duplicate keys and it was done really fast. I would say in a matter of seconds. The reason for the four stars. Making keys here is quite expensive compare to other locations. I had to pay $3.00 for each key duplicate and that is the cheapest type of key. read more

The person checked the id, needed to see the car, and wanted to see our key works with the car. And the copy of the key worked perfectly. The person did not look the friendliest, but the job is done. Quick, efficient, and effective service! I was in and out in about 10 minutes which was amazing considering that I was getting like a bazillion keys copied! They were also able to separate my bills (some keys were for work, others personal) with no problem and they even numbered the keys for me so I would be completely confused! I've been coming here for many years for both my personal needs and for my company. Being in the real estate industry, we're constantly re-keying, making new keys, duplicating strange old keys, etc. Salz has always stood by their work, Salz will take a key back that doesn't work and they stamp their name on the keys they cut so you can easily figure out where you got it from. Many places that cut keys will usually have a 1 in 4 chance of a bad cut. I haven't had this problem with Salz, which is why I try to come here whenever possible to duplicate keys. Not having to waste my time returning to a store that gave me a bad cut is priceless, time is money and I don't need to waste mine going back for a redo. I haven't used their full range of services yet but I can't imagine I would be disappointed if I had to. read more

My experience at Salz exceeded all expectations. I went tako (octopus) hunting a few weeks back and the snap clip holding my key fobs (in my waterproof pouch) accidentally came off of my float. After looking for them in the ocean the next few days and being unsuccessful, I had to get both fobs replaced. After calling the dealership (Nissan and Lexus) their price to get a new fob was almost DOUBLE the price as what Salz charged. Jase (sp) was extremely helpful throughout the process (each fob has to be individually programmed) and it made me feel good that I was helping to support local. Highly recommended. read more

I took my two 45 year old garage closet Weiser brand push locks to local Locksmiths, & was told to get new locks because there were no replacements for them. I looked online extensively and even wrote to companies for replacements or for other solutions. I even took them to New Zealand to see if I could get replacements there! I tried one last internet search for local locksmith & came up with Salz. Ellen was awesome, knew all about the locks, and told me she was pretty confident she could rekey them. And she went above and beyond by cleaning them and though it was apparently difficult, rekeyed both locks. Problem solved, on island, kind and skillful pros, fair price for all their labor. I didn't buy anything from them, but I came in asking to make a copy of my car key. They couldn't copy my kind of key, but the woman at the counter pointed me to two businesses that could, have me their addresses and phone numbers, told me which was closer, and advised me to call them both first because one of them doesn't even open unless they have an appt. I called and got an appointment, and all is well! She saved me a lot of time figuring out where to go, especially because I couldn't even find the other place on yelp or google maps. Visited them for the first time recently because I couldn't get some keys made anywhere else but here due to the type of key. They were easy to find and parking was ok but their lot is tiny so if they are busy, it'll be tough I presume. The staff there were friendly and I got my keys made without any problems. Pricing seemed fair enough. I waited some time for my keys but I had quite a bit made, including a vehicle key that was a little harder to make. They also have a TON of different key chain, key rings, safes, etc that you can purchase there. They are definitely busy!! read more

Over 40 years i have patronized Salz Lock and Safe and have always been treated well. 30 years ago they fabricated a transmission key for my 1963 356 Porsche. The Porsche dealership and Porsche repair shops all said that it was impossible to fabricate such a key and get it to work. But Salz Lock and Safe did! And they did not charge an arm and a leg. Like other reviews say "their keys always fit". Today these guys remedied my problem with a broken Lexus key. . I truly appreciate their courtesy, honesty and integrity.
