So I know Sam Woo has been around for ages, but I've only gotten to really try their food over the last month. Their prices are so reasonable, and super tasty. I had tried their dumpling noodle (Sui Gao), and the broth isn't your typical wonton noodle broth. You can evidently tell that they use their roast bbq pork bones in the noodle broth, which makes it so much more savoury and flavourful. I recently got their "choice of 2 bbq meats" rice, and it was under $15, with massive portions. Meat was tender and juicy. Order ahead if you're picking up as the parking lot is super busy, but also don't expect quality service over the phone as they're busy lol.

I was out with my aunt and uncle, assisting them with an errand and grabbing some lunch. We went to Sam Woo BBQ, a place I haven't been to in a very long time. Of course, we had a BBQ platter, consisting of BBQ Duck, Roast Pork, and Soya Chicken. We also had Cantonese Chow Mein, and Sticky Rice. It was all pretty good! Their food has always been decent, well above average, but their service has been hit or miss. You never know how it's going to be. This time it was pretty good. We finished the BBQ meats and I took home the balance of chow mein and rice to enjoy later.

Got a craving to eat more Roasted Pork Belly after eating the entire Piglet at Christmas Eve. So I decided 9to give Sam Woo BBQ a try again. Haven't been there for many years. It was one of our favorite restaurants before but then we had a few bad experiences and stopped going there. Anyway, since it way on my way home, so I decided to give it a try. Ordered 1 lb takeout of the Roasted Pork Belly. The sign says 12 dollars a lb., but when I pay, the guy that cut the stuff up says it's $14 per lb. because it has a bone inside. $12 per lb., if no bone inside the meat. Sounds illogical to me, but for $2 a lb extra, I'm not going to waste my time to argue. So the Pork Belly costs me $15.68 instead of the $12 in my original budget. My wife loves to eat BBQ Duck. At $40 a duck, what the heck, Happy wife, Happy Life. So total bill comes to $55.68 plus tax. Total damage, $62.92 for a BBQ Duck燒鴨 and a pound+ of Roadted Pig Belly 燒肉。 Took it home and can't wait till supper time and eat a few pieces to try. Both the Duck and Pork are pretty good but a bit too Salty. Definitely have to eat it with a bowl of rice and some stir fried vegetables. Would I go again? Probably, unless I find another better place.

You can get authentic Cantonese food, also expect the 'authentic' level of service quality - not me being stereotyping but HK diners service style is known as being 'direct'. Wasn't quite a pleasant experience but their BBQ pork was really good. Only in the end they refused to offer an extra chili oil sauce while paying for the bill. Homey ambiance. You could see many families coming here so that speaks to the food. Just don't hold high expectation for their service and you'd probably enjoy much more. Food (quality, presentation) - 4/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - 3/5 Ambience (interior, cleanness) - 3/5 Service - 1/5 Value - 3/5

I grew up in LA and Sam Woo was an institution: if you wanted the absolute best HK style BBQ you go to Sam Woo. I can't remember how many hundreds of times I had Sam Woo both dining in and take out. That said, this Sam Woo is not the same Sam Woo. Service was poor (not the waitress' fault, they had TWO people in the dining room when it's completely full). The duck was meh, like worse than Chinese supermarket duck. The chicken was OK, and the soup was tasteless. Highlight of my dinner is hearing "we're too busy to make X today" 3 times. Yeah I'd avoid this place.

This Chinese restaurant has a prominent BBQ meat counter, but their other dishes were actually better. They get 4.5 stars. Got the 3 meat selection. Sadly lean roast duck (pipa duck) couldn't be 1 of the 3. Roasted duck was pretty good with nice fat & a good roast flavour. Roasted pig was ok - a bit dry with little fat; the skin was a bit brittle, not like the more delicate crispness you get elsewhere. Char siu (which we were served with wrongly at first) was decent. Soy chicken was pretty tasty but a bit tough. Fish maw & Shredded duck soup was good though there was little fish maw. There was quite a bit of duck. The regular portion was big, filling about 6 small soup bowls For seasonal vegetables we chose pea shoots with garlic. It was a big portion & good: Well cooked with a good texture & taste Rice noodles with beef & soya sauce had a good smoky wok flavour (one of the best I've found here) & a good amount of beef. It was very good value. There was complementary rock melon.

Great spot for chinese food at a decent price. They've got quite an extensive menu. My favourite thing to get here is the BBQ pork noodles (and always be sure to ask for extra sauce). The fried vermicelli noodles are great and surprisingly, the curry dishes are amazing. We actually save the extra curry sauce and make curry fish balls at home sometimes. The servers here have been here for a long while. It's kind of cute how they all wear bow ties and they're pretty funny. They're quick to make recommendations for the night and are hardly wrong. Great place for a quick dinner!

One of my favorite restaurants in Markham when I want to get some bbq pork (which is one of the things they're most famous for). You would think that coming at night on a Sunday wouldn't be as busy, but actually they're always pretty packed. When we came, all the tables were full of diners. You can also choose to just buy the meat at the cashier to take it home, and don't have to dine in. The workers here all spoke Cantonese which made it a lot easier for us to communicate. The menu offers a good selection of their specialty meats, as well as rice, veggie and noodle options as well. I would write the item number plus the name on the sheet as not every server remembers the whole menu. Food came fairly quickly, esecially the bbq pork since it was already made. The bbq pork was very soft, tasty, and one of my favorite things is that they have a slight crisp on the edges to them. I honestly don't think i can find better bbq pork here than them. Service wise was pretty good as the servers were attentive to us, but as a Chinese run restaurant, don't expect the service to be top notch. However, for Chinese standards, they were pretty nice which made the experience better.

An iconic place that's been around for many years, with one of the best BBQ meats in the GTA. This is one of the rare asian restaurants where you'll still see the servers who have been around for years, wearing bow ties with quick and friendly service, and giving you that authentic HK feel (back in the day). Their 乳鴿 Baby Pigeon is probably one of the best I've had, juicy, big, and tender. You'll find at a lot of locations nowadays, they tend to come out tiny and dry. Their Peking Duck is on point as well, see photos for reference! Oh and by the way, you can expect complimentary 例湯 Soup of the day for starters & 水果 Fruits for dessert. They'll have all the traditional dishes, and a great deal for steamed fish only priced at $13. If you're searching up this place for a dinner spot, and haven't been here before... What are you waiting for?!

Love their quality HK style BBQ! They have quick and fast service and when times aren't busy you can choose your piece. For the most part, if you tell them what you want they'll choose a great piece as they are a so good! My favourite is the roast duck and the half Lean/half fatty bbq pork ( Char Siu) . Their marinated livers and hearts are delicious as well, if you're palette is up for it!

The decor is from the previous store I think called maki momo? The dine in is counter seating. The spicy fish and veggie soup was also different as the fish used I believe it's snakehead where other places usually have that thick cut white fish which is meh. So I really enjoyed it. Definitely don't set the expectation as authentic Korean dishes for these two dishes in terms of taste because it's quite different. The pork bone soup had a lot of garlic in it but something about the soup base gave me sukiyaki flavours. The fish soup was slightly different as well but also can't narrow down what it reminds me off but that one gave some Chinese spin to it. While using my Uber Eats app last month, I was in the western part of Markham and noticed that there was a Dickey's nearby. I saw that the competition plate was discounted by 20%. I went ahead and ordered it for takeout. The competition plate consists of brisket and brisket burnt ends. I got to choose two sides. It came with a buttered roll. I got these sides: - Coleslaw - Baked beans I got my estimated time to pick my order up. I took my time getting there. Over the years, I have seen a number of businesses come and go in this plaza. Before Dickey's established its eatery on Woodbine Avenue, just north of Highway 7, it used to be Rooster's, a men's grooming store. Most businesses in this plaza are food and drink. It makes sense to me why it didn't survive. I found a parking spot fairly close to Dickey's. I backed into the spot and then walked in. I was the only customer in the eatery. A friendly man came out of the kitchen. I indicated that I had an Uber Eats order. He nodded and got my food for me. I thanked him and happily left with the goods. I drove home and ate everything for dinner. The competition plate was smaller than I had expected. Mind you, I've been spoiled having Crosstown BBQ's proteins for the last few months. The portions are generous at the latter. I realize that photos are deceiving. On Uber Eats, the brisket was sliced. My brisket looked like it was chopped up for someone who wears dentures and can't handle chewing thick slices of it. I don't know if the brisket was extremely tender that I got it in shambles. It was strange. The brisket was good. I didn't need to chew it much. It had good flavour. The brisket burnt ends were disappointing. They were definitely burnt to the point where all the moisture was missing. They were tough and not enjoyable to eat. I recommend passing on them unless you enjoy chewing on tough meat that worse than jerky and trying to hydrate it with your beverage. I liked the coleslaw. It was crunchy and mayonnaise-based. The dressing had good flavour. I got the baked beans. They were okay. They reminded me of opening a can of baked beans and seeing a small little fat cube. It didn't taste homemade. I don't mind canned baked beans, but I was expecting more ordering it from an eatery. Maybe the Dickey's sandwiches BOGO deals would be better. I should give this place another try, but I wouldn't get the competition plate again. (299)

Crispy on the outside and tender inside. 1/2 slab ribs dinner: should be 6 ribs - received 8 (a small size). Whoop! The meat was tender and good flavour. Cold slaw: on the sweet side but good. Cornbread: moist and good. Service was very attentive.

The restaurant itself not too many seats, but the booth that we sat in was quite comfortable. No complaints there. All over our food fit. Ribs - 8/10 very nicely, smoked ribs not fall off the bone and it was slightly salty. But definitely hit the spot. Wings original smoked- 9/10 very good wings. If only it wasn't as expensive. Basically fall off the bone no issues good smoke flavor through the entire thing. Overall, really good experience would come back and try the brisket in the future at the table. Next to us said some good things about that and the pulled pork.
