Post race brunch on Saturday. They made accommodations for our group and the food was yummy. I had the egg sandwich with cheese and bacon and home fries. The rest of the group ordered: turkey burger, chicken panini and omelets. Everything was yummy and looked yummy and tasted great. No complaints from our group. I will definitely be back. My wife and i were visiting our son in Florida. On our way back to the Tampa airport, we had time to stop for breakfast so we went to downtown Tampa. We looked at various menus and even stopped into a few places, but finally we wound up at Samaria. Lucky us! The omelets were wonderful as were the potatoes and coffee. As we were nearing the end of our meal, the owner stopped by to ask about our experience there. He was a delightful man. We spent fifteen minutes talking to him about our respective children. Did breakfast here the other day. Had the seemingly popular gyro omelet which was gigantic. Never seen an omelet that big before. The food was decent and the host and possibly the owner were going around greeting people and asking about the service which was nice. The only thing I didn't particularly like was that our waitress had what appeared to be really dirty fingernails and delivered our drinks to the table by holding the glasses at the rim so straws were a necessity. read more

FAKE FRUIT SMOOTHIES FOR $4!!!!!!!!!! It was crushed ice with daiquiri syrup. I could make my own for cheaper. But wait for $2 extra you can have real fruit in your fruit smoothie. I should've just gone to 7/11 and got a slurpy for $1 or even tropical smoothie (~$4) a few blocks down. Also the food was very bland. I used so much salt just to eat it, let alone enjoy it. The service was awful. Waitress was so rude and condescending. And then when we went to pay there was an automatic 18% tip fee. I would've gladly paid it if the service wasn't so awful so when we went to ask to get it taken off the waitress walked away and made us speak to her manager and her manager forced us to pay it. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but the food/ service was sub-par. I ordered a bagel and lox, it came out like a hamburger, with everything on it (including lettuce) and put together except the cream cheese, so I had to disassemble everything and put the cream cheese on then add the toppings. My boyfriend ordered the mushroom Swiss Benedict with hash browns, and although it looked really good, he took the first bite and it was cold. We hate sending food back, but we told the server it was cold and she apologized and took the food back, saying she would get us a new one. A woman comes back out to drop it off, we said thank you so much and she doesnt even look at us, makes a mean face and drops it off and walks away- and it's the same food she just threw it in the microwave, which ended up making the eggs way over cooked, hard and dry. Wish I could have left a better review. Don't think we'll come here again- just go next door to First Watch. read more

I made a yelp account just so I could write this review. I am very displeased with how these people treated us. The lady at the front was rude from the very first word we spoke. She pretended to not understand what we were asking for and continued to tell us "this is not McDonalds" and that we had to wait. All I asked for what an estimate of how long the food took to be served. Of course we were not putting up with the demeaning address towards us so we found another restaurant. As we were leaving she shouted at us "Better for us, we just have an empty clean table now" very rude!!!!! Definitely never getting my money! read more

Loved this place. Went there for brunch on a saturday morning. Felt like a modern family diner. We got a very friendly greeting as we walked in which set the tone for the entire visit. Regulars were given a similar greeting along with some friendly banter. TV's throughout to watch sports. I had eggs benedict with hash browns, a bowl of fruit and a mocha. Mocha was just average but everything else was great. Benedict was perfectly cooked and the fruit was really fresh. Service was friendly and efficient. Had lunch with a friend and her classic Eggs Benedict had the worst Hollandaise sauce! A worker (manager?) stopped by our table after my friend literally spat it into a napkin, and took the plate back. Then he came back with a "new batch fresh Hollandaise" and she said it tastes even worse than the first! The man said maybe the chef was not measuring his ingredients - lemon joice, HORSERADISH, Tabasco sauce -- and we just looked at him with our mouths dropped open! The California egg Benedict with home fries was delicious and filling. The avocados were fresh and with the hollandaise sauce was just creamy and perfect. My boyfriend had a pancake on the side and it was fluffy and buttery. Around $10 for each meal, it was a wonderful breakfast since it was the only restaurant in the area that was open on a Sunday. Food came out within 10-15 minutes. The staff was super nice and helpful! We ate outside and the weather on a May morning was just breezy and warm. read more

This is the best place for breakfast ever. They leave the coffee pot on the table, they offer dairy and non dairy creamers, they have really great chocolate milk, service is excellent, they have every kind of vegetable and you can even get grits on the side of everything! Had breakfast here twice while in town for a convention. The first time I had the Florentine Benedict, which was Eggs Benedict with the addition of spinach and tomato slices. It was well-executed and delicious. The next time I tried the Country Benedict, which was two sausage patties and poached eggs on a biscuit, covered with sausage gravy. The eggs were a bit overcooked, and the gravy was light on the sausage, but it was tasty nonetheless. Service was friendly and efficient on both occasions. Coffee comes in a thermal carafe left on the table for you - a nice touch. My only quibble is that when my waitress listed the available sides, she didn't mention a $1.50 surcharge for fresh fruit. It was a large portion that was well worth the price, however, so I didn't make an issue of it. read more

Had breakfast at Samaria and I was underwhelmed. The owner was sitting outside and he is very friendly and hospitable. I created my own omelet of broccoli, green peppers and mushrooms, in addition to home fries and a biscuit. The omelet was huge; however, the veggies were not fresh at all. The broccoli had been boiled to death, canned mushrooms. Even the green peppers were soggy...thawed from being frozen. I give him and A for enthusiasm and customer service. By the time we reached Samaria Cafe, we were starving. We found it after leaving another location that was busy. noisy and did not offer weekday table service. From start to finish, we realized we had made the right decision to eat at this family owned restaurant. We were immediately asked if we wanted coffee. I liked that there were flavored coffee creamers available including Irish cream and French vaniella. I looked over the menu which had plenty of breakfast / brunch items to select. I chose the Eggs Benedict Florentine (without the Canadian bacon) and had a side of fresh fruit. The side item was larger than expected with fresh pineapple, cantaloupe, grapes, strawberries and banana. I shared this with my husband. My entree was prefectly prepared. He had a more traditional breakfast consisting of two scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. He enjoyed his meal, too. Our service was outstanding. Terry offered up options for us to consider and aswered every question we had. Another employee quickly provided us with an item we requested. As we neared the completion of our meal, a third member of the staff stopped by the table to ask us if we were enjoying our dining experience. I tried to find out if he was the owner, however, he had already moved onto another table to say hello. Never expect to experience "The customer is always right" here. This spot has changed so much in the past 5 yrs you never know what to expect when you go in. I think my first visit it was a Sports Bar, I even recall having paper menus during one of the many changes. Today Samaria is decked out with uniform waitresses, a hostess and an atmosphere quiet enough to have lunch conversation. Although the menu covers every area of mealtime, it was way too much to decide what I wanted. Since this is lunch I decided a sandwich and salad would do just fine. Four pages of menu and no option listed for sandwich and salad. So I requested the assistance of our waitress who patiently waited while we tried to narrow down the 100 items offered all day. Sandwich comes with one side she says, fries or potato salad; may I substitute the side and have a side salad, unfortunately side salad is not listed on this menu. Really all of the items listed and no where is there an option for a side salad or the price. She was happy to accommodate my request and substitute the side salad. Then the check comes, $7 for the grilled chicken sandwich and another $4.50 for the salad. Someone does not know the difference between substitution and an extra charge. I requested to speak to the manager, she agreed that her employee was mistaken when she said I could make the substitution & that was a mistake she will have a long talk with her about but for me the price will not change. Why do I pay for your employee mistake as the manager and owner you are quick to acknowledge the waitress was wrong but offer no solution to me for the extra charge. Never again shall I visit Samaria. The manager/owner never offered an apology and addition was was rude and sarcastic in a crowded restaurant that she doesn't need LUCK she is fortunate to take an extra $4.50 from suckers like me!!!! read more

There was a long wait at a well-known breakfast spot on the corner, so my sister and I happened upon this gem. I had the bacon-veggie quiche and it was succulent! It came with a giant bowl of fruit and a moist and warm cranberry/bran muffin. My sister had the florentine benedict, it was a work of art on her plate, and scrumptious as well. My friends and I visited this place on easter sunday since we were on vacation in tampa and like to try all the restaurants near by. Well, I came in with high hopes after reading reviews and maybe I just went on the wrong day. I wanted to try the mango smoothie and the machine was broken. The waitress went on to tell me that I wasn't missing out because they dont use real fruit anyway so I should be glad they didn't have it. Because this place was close to my hotel and I could walk there even with a broken foot, I decided to believe the good reviews and try it. I'm glad I did. I was seated right away (at about 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday - but it got really busy by about 9). Every single person was super-friendly and talked to all the customers like friends/family. I wish I'd ordered something more adventurous than a bacon and cheese omelet. But the omelet was big and absolutely loaded with crispy bacon and lots of cheddar cheese. The hash browns were really crispy and good. My plate was loaded to the point that I had trouble figuring out where to start. So, for about 13.00, I got enough food for about 2 people and constant soda refills. Overall, the food was good and service was incredibly friendly and fast. They also have some really interesting things on the menu (e.g., ingredients I hadn't seen in omelets before). Highly recommend for the friendly service alone. read more
