The charges would not be so bad if the food was halfway decent (for the price) or the service was great. Eggs are premade- so don't even bother with those. on a typical summer day they will be out of everything by 10:30am even though Winn-Dixie is right across the parking lot. It's open until 2:00 but kitchen staff usually cuts it off about 1:15. I don't blame them though... Such a miserable group of people working there, I would try to duck out early too! I'm sad this island staple has gone downhill over the years... There is competition on the island now- we don't have to tolerate this anymore.

I decided on a grits bowl . I was shocked at ghe size of the bowl when it was delivered a short while later. Huge is an understatement. Mentioned it again and no big deal. Might have been nice to at least offer something else. I'd recommend ordering a glass of what you like rather than waste the $15. My wife ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which she enjoyed and thought was fine. The short rib sandwich was tasty enough but the bread was soft like it came out of a plastic bag. Overall it's a really quaint place with isles of olive oil and items to purchase but the experience was a 2.0 and the food average 3.0 at best. I really expected a bit more especially from the look and feel of the place. Not sure I could get around to wanting to go back to try anything else on the menu. We were told that it would be about an hour and a half for a table we were ok with that and put our name on the list. I would say it took about an hour for a table. Our server immediately came to the table to ask for our drink orders so we thought we were off to a great start. She also took our food orders rather quickly. However, after that she pretty much disappeared on us. She never once came by to ask if we needed any more mimosas or refills on our waters. She didn't even let us know that the kitchen was backed up. We had to ask the hostess to look for her as it had been 45 minutes after ordering and we had no sign of her. She was outside texting. She then came by and said it's a holiday weekend it's going to be busy and then walked away. Our food was delish and we really liked what we ordered but by the time we got it we had been at the restaurant for at least an hour after ordering. I had the breakfast sandwich that was basically like a bacon and and cheese with tomato on a sandwich with cheesy grits on the side. The sliced brisket sandwich was piled high with tender delicious brisket. Loved the spicy sauce and the side of mac and cheese was also delicious. We got takeout of smoked turkey, baked beans and potato salad. What a dinner! The turkey was phenomenal as were the sides. I only wish they weren't 1000 miles away.
