I had a chance to try the hawaiian- like pizza and the buffalo chicken mac n cheese pizza. I always love me a hawaiian pizza, it was delicious! But I didn't like to jalepenos on it - either way, it's still good. I love how they have a thin crust but it doesn't get floppy or anything. Thin but stays put! The buffalo chicken mac n cheese pizza looks really appealing but it wasn't that tasty at all. I thought it would have more flavor. Great for pictures but I wouldn't recommend getting it. 09/23/17, about 5pm: The girl working the cash register was very obviously high. Also, had to remind her to give us a cup for a fountain drink we had just ordered. A few minutes later, she tried to bring us a salad on a plate, and acted shocked when I told her our order was a takeout one. Her response? "Oh everything was to-go?"....yes, that is what a TO GO order is. Now, on a slow night, a single 10 inch pizza has taken over half an hour (and still waiting). First and last time here. Initial opinion that I must comment on is that the pizza options cater to a University crowd (IE: mac 'n cheese pizza / the pies can be cut into 'party slices' for more pieces). Sammy G's is just okay. Not terrible, not great. There's a pretty cheap lunch special and a nice patio, though. The pizza itself sort of reminds me of Chef Boyardee pizza kits. I love coming to Sammy G's! Every time I've visited this place has been a great experience. They have a lot of different choices of pizza to choose from, as well as some great appetizers, sandwiches, and salads. They have this great lunch special deal Monday through Friday from like 11:00am - ~2:00pm where they give you a 10" pizza and a drink for $8. You choose between building your own pizza (choice of sauce and 2 toppings) or the specialty pizza for that day. In the past, I've tried the Buffalo Mac, The Robert's Classic, and the El Presidente. All three are really good and have very unique ingredients. If you've never been here before, I definitely recommend getting an order of Tot-chos. They are some of the best things I've ever had! The tater tots are always super crispy and not soggy at all. The staff that work here are super friendly and nice, and they have different games and decks of cards you can play with while dining there. They also have a nice outdoor patio seating area with TVs and outdoor lighting. I really want to come back soon and try one of their Wakey Bakey pizzas (breakfast pizza). I also saw that they have bottomless mimosas Friday - Sunday for $12 (with purchase of a meal), so I'll definitely be coming back again! read more

There I was, on a rainy Monday night, enjoying my veggie pizza and watching what happened to be a very exciting Seahawks vs Vikings game (if you were wondering, Vikings won). As I finished my last few sips of my delicious New Belgium IPA, I glanced down and noticed mold inside my cup - screenshots have been provided below (look at your own discretion). After taking a few seconds to realize what I had been consuming all this time I thought to myself, "how could this establishment let this happen? how could they feed me mold when all I wanted was pizza and beer? how could they risk having one of their regular customers get food poisoning? they clearly must have known and have no disregard for public safety." I brought the cup to the bartenders attention - only for her to offer free food as if it would be the answer to their grievous sin. I write this in hopes that 1) the restaurant realizes the damage they have done to my emotional and physical well being, and 2) none of you go through the miserable and exhausting time I spent on the throne on this lovely Tuesday morning. Today was supposed to be a happy day full of love, laughter and utmost positivity - yet, here I sit writing my first yelp review contemplating if I should puke on command to make sure all the mold exits my body. We stopped in this place on our visit to SJSU for a pre-concert bite. The place was all decorated for Halloween which was cute, and the pizza flavors were insane! We ordered two Buffalo-Mac's, cheese fries, and regular fries. The buffalo mac is ridiculously good...mac n cheese ooey gooey goodness topped with buffalo chicken, garnished with chives...gives me the chills just thinking about it. One of my friends commented that it was pretty heavy for her and she felt blah after eating it, but I had a single slice plus some cheese fries and didn't feel bogged down by the level of carbs (although, I love carbs. So, sue me.) We talked with the owners and they were extremely friendly, as was the entire staff! It was Margarita Monday, where cute mason jar margaritas are discounted to $3 a pop. I didn't drink the margarita, but everyone in my party who ordered one said it was a really great margarita with the perfect amount of lime. The staff encouraged us to come back after our concert to enjoy some sake bombs! Seems like a fun campus oriented environment that is upscale enough for full fledged non-student adults to really enjoy as well. Pizza is a bit pricey for a broke college student, but if you take into account that you could share most dishes then it's not so bad. First time here my boyfriend and I got the tater tots and a pizza with half pepperoni half cheese. Definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had! The tater tots were also delicious. The atmosphere is definitely a college student vibe (a good go-to place by campus where you can hang out and have fun and eat great food!) They also have a bar area on one end of the room if you feel like having a beer, etc. I also saw people studying there so it's a good place for that at night maybe even daytime. I just happened to pass by Sammy G's as I was picking up a textbook for one of my classes, so I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. I ordered a 10-inch Spicy Hawaiian Pizza ($11). The pizza toppings included ham, pepperoni, jalapeños, and pineapple on top of delicious mozzarella cheese and a thin, yet crispy pizza crust. What I loved most was the quality of the ingredients, as they tasted amazing in every pizza slice. There's a large bar on the opposite side of where I was sitting, but I didn't have time to get a drink. I did notice there's a large selection of beer, and I also saw margarita mixture on the side, so I assume they make margaritas as well. Oh Cheesus Crust, this place is amazing. Mac and cheese + pizza = I LOVE CARBS! Located right next to the SJSU CVB and CVC dorms, Sammy G's is a new pizza place that has plenty of outside seating and a modern-looking interior. They have really unique toppings, especially the pre-listed combos. It looks like they're most well known for their Buffalo Mac pizza and brunch pizzas. My friend and I decided to split a 10" pizza, she picked Mother Clucker (which is essentially a BBQ chicken pizza), and I got the Buffalo Mac on my half. Usually, I'm wary of chicken on pizza because it tends to dry out but the chicken was perfectly cooked and moist (I hate that word, but I mean it). The crust was crispy and thin, the mac and cheese was perfectly good and not overbaked. The cheese on the pizza was so long and stretchy! The best place in San Jose for a breakfast pizza! I had the breakfast scramble pizza. Really great mix of veggies - tomatoes, mushrooms, green onions - and love it all over egg and cheese. The crust is a thinner crust so you're not weighed done by a ton of dough either. One thing for my visit is that the egg on one piece seemed a littler underdone which made me a bit wary but other than that, it was great! Comfortable seating inside and they have a patio as well with TVs although slightly lacking in umbrellas for those sunny days. I would recommend getting the southern fried wings and the sauces on the side, which would come out piping hot and crispy. This place is super good and conveniently located across the street from SJSU! They have friendly service and great menu choices including a create your own if you don't like the choices. My friend got a gluten free classic breakfast pizza and it was very yummy. Big plus: you can get any pizza gluten free! I got half buffalo Mac and cheese and half Roberts Special. (I think that's what it was called) They load the pizza up with ingredients! everything is fresh and the pizzas are made on the spot so they come out hot and are easily customizable. It is a little expensive as my small pizza costed $15 but they really make up for it by piling up the toppings and having such fresh ingredients. So, I would say it's worth the money. I enjoyed the incredibly cheesy MacNCheese Pizza and a cold beer. - 1 star because there are a little bit unorganized right now. hopefully i can update my rating after they get some experiences. In the meantime they get really organized so I add the 5th star to my rating. It is possible to sit inside and outside as well. You need to order your food inside but they will bring it to your table independently where you are sitting. The restaurant combines modern steal elements with wood, so the restaurant and especially the bar feels very stylish. They also have 4 big flat screens where they show the games of the sport teams of San Jose, so on game days i think it feels more like a sports bar than a traditional pizza place. In the meantime i visited Sammy G's multiple time and I love it. It's my favorite pizza place in San Jose. Their pizza is bomb and I like their Sandwiches too. read more

This place definitely has a lot of potential to grow. For sure, they have very interesting and creative combinations for their pizzas, however, in terms of taste, they were just okay. I was expecting a lot more. My girlfriend and I shared: **10in Pizza ($12) Half/Half -Buffalo Mac: I really wish the buffalo sauce was more bold and apparent in the pizza, but really you just get a slight taste of it from the chicken. The mac was really disappointing, it gave no flavor at all and it was basically like you threw boiled noodles on the pizza. I think a better way for them to do it is to have a ranch sauce base, cheese, real mac n cheese, chicken, and then drizzled with buffalo sauce. Or something to that extent. -Mother Clucker: I did actually like this one. They should consider adding some type of spice or hot sauce to it though, cause it literally makes it 10x better. Not too thick or thin, and had just the perfect amount of crunch. **Totchos ($6): taste exactly like how it looks. Nothing grand or memorable. SERVICE: cool! Here are my thoughts, plus Pros and Cons on Sammy G's... Pros: 1) They make very good pizza, salads, and other side dishes. 2) The service wasn't good, it was excellent! The staff is very nice, they came out and turned on the heat lamps for us! it wasn't that cold, but it was very thoughtful. 3) The location is very good, right by the university, parking was good as well. The outside patio area is very nice and relaxing on nice clear night with heat lamps. 4) Their pizza dough isn't like normal pizza dough, more like a peta bread, less gluteney. 5) I really enjoyed their take on "buffalo sauce", it was slightly different and very tasty! 6) They also have a really nice BAR! Cons: 1) The pizza tastes great fresh (hot from the oven), but just ok the next morning. I would recommend dining there vs take home or next morning. 2) The inside dinner area is bit small, the layout is more suited for adults with high tables and stools. Overall great experience with them, we had a great time sitting outside with the kids and chatted with the owner a bit, really nice staff! They kept asking if we need anything else, I strongly believe great customer service makes the extra difference in your dining experience.
