Came here for a quick breakfast. Wrong place for that. Basic breakfast orders took 45 minutes to come out and all of the food was very mediocre. Eggs cooked incorrectly, creamed chipped beef tasted oddly sour, gluten free pancakes were spongy and pale, portions were lacking, etc. Food was sitting in the window for 15+ minutes before being run and none of the staff seem to have a clue what is going on. Just overall not a great establishment. Coffee was good though, so at least there is that. This place needs help. read more

For many staying downtown this is the de-facto breakfast place; us included. It's basically a diner menu, but in a sit-down restaurant without the typical diner bar (ie, no retro themes here). We've eaten here three times over the years and the experience is pretty consistent: popular around brunch times and you can expect about a five minute wait; they have a covered foyer outside the door so you can wait outside of the weather if you like. It's a bare minimum operation: for us it's typically the owner and a server running frantically, and the kitchen staff. They have two rooms - the main one plus apparently they are now leasing the storefront next door, but today only the main room was open and while the 2 staff on the floor were definitely hustling, we had no waits once we were seated; drinks were fact, orders were fast and the food actually came out much faster than I expected, so the kitchen must have been really hustling. The room is cozy, and somewhat loud. It's not super tight inside, and there are plenty of booths; we were quite comfortable moving around and sitting. The prices here are extremely reasonable; frankly likely better than what we pay at diners in Central Md, and certainly very reasonable for the location. The menu is also a bit more varied than the diners we are used to; of course plenty of egg , meat, and pancake combinations, but also a few treats. As an example, today we had coffee (2.95) and hot cocoa (2.95), eggs benedict (9.99) which came with hash browns, and cheese blintzes (8.99). Eggs Benedict and blintzes aren't the most commonly found items in our area, so these were a treat. In both cases you can get a variety of them - for instance you can select from many different types of Eggs Benedict (we opted for the traditional Canadian Bacon), and different types of blintzes such as fruit filled; again we kept it boring and went for cheese. Hash browns are a favorite of mine .... I shouldn't admit this, but I will sometimes go through a McD's drive through just for hash browns (completely forgetting of course the immediate guilt that follows). The hash browns here are how hash browns should be done: CRISPY. Many things in life peeve me, but few things peve me more than ordering hash browns and getting a side of shredded potatoes. Sammy's does hash browns right: crispy. Add salt and pepper to your liking and enjoy. The cheese blintzes were quite nice: they use a combination of cottage cheese, cream cheese and sour cream plus some sugar. They serve it with an additional serving of sour cream on the side. I found the blintzes to be just the right amount of sweetness; that is, a bit sweet but not like a desert sweet, and chose to eat it as-is without putting syrup on them. On each table they offer a variety of syrups such as maple, blueberry, etc; they are surely not actual maple syrup however, but rather that corn syrup stuff your'e used to getting in stores ... I personally don't eat that stuff and didn't miss it one bit on the blintzes. The Eggs Benedict were a treat to see on the menu, as it's definitely a favorite of my household but a meal we don't make too often; it's not so much that it's necessarily difficult; it's just elaborate enough to be slightly more work than we're willing to do on a regular basis. However, I do make a mean hollandaise sauce and in fact now everyone in the family has mastered the technique ( For THE best hollaindaise recipe, simply use Joy of Cooking - an absolute gold standard cook book). Our eggs benedict came out completley on the mark for the muffic, bacon and eggs; the eggs being very nicely poached (good job ! I have a lot of trouble poaching eggs for some reason). The hollandaise, however .... it's not what I'm used to, which is simply egg yolks, butter and lemon ... the sauce here was somewhat thicker but it had a sweet taste to it that was a bit offputting to me. I don't think I would get it next time - great excuse to explore the rest of the menu !! All in all zero complaints, good good, very reasonable prices, fast service and a nice friendly ambience; won't hesitate to return again for brunch tomorrow. read more

As for lunch, this place comes the closest of any place I've ever seen to making falafel bad. Falafel is almost impossible to screw up. Also, it's a noisy place with a mix of douche-y collegiates and bratty kids for clientele. No reason I would recommend eating here. read more

Make sure you ask for 3 chicken eggs. I got 3 scrambled quail eggs that tasted like nothing with a slimy oily consistency. I ordered the short stack of pancakes. I think that means 3 teeny pancakes; about the size of a mason jar lid. Oh, and they were the worse pancakes I have ever tasted. How do you screw up pancakes - use old batter. Look, I don't mind paying the going price for food, but to pay $10 for about 1.5 scrambles eggs and some puny, crappy tasting pancakes with just an OK cup of coffee is wrong. read more

Staff was friendly... typical hole in the wall diner appearance. After introduction and sit down things started going down hill. Coffee cups were dirty. Ketchup on the table was rotten and new food had to be brought out. Small sign on door (not super visible) they charge a 4% fee on all credit card transactions. Food was mediocre at best. While visiting Rehoboth Beach, I stayed at the Brighton Suites and Sammy's Kitchen and it was great! The cook (I was told) has been at the location for 18 years so it must be good I thought... And was right. I had the Gyro Omelet and while that was excellent, I think I had the best hash browns ever.. In ALL of TIME. :-) The staff was very fast & friendly, prices reasonable, the seats were comfortable and the whole place was very clean. I think I'll be eating here for the next few days. Ordered 2 chicken cutlet sandwiches with bacon in here last night. The sandwiches were tasty but the piece of grilled chicken was the smallest I have ever been served in my life. I have a 12 lb dog and would have given her a bigger piece of chicken. And this bitch right here is not 12 lbs, so yeah. My husband's sandwich had the exact same portion of chicken so it's not an accident. I attached a pic - for a frame of reference, the bun was about the size of a Big Mac bun. The fries were limp. The server was nice. 2 chicken cutlet sandwiches with a soda was $18, so prices are reasonable. This place is 24 hours, so maybe they serve up these mini chicken sandwiches to the drunks? read more

Since it is off season, there are not to many breakfast places open on a Monday and within walking distance on my hotel. That is my caveat. The coffee was weak. I paid 99 cents more for Egg Beaters and had the "Fast Breakfast". The 1 sausage was extra greasy. The 2 strips of bacon , 2 slices of wheat toast and potatoes were okay. I was surprised that the hash browns were not greasy or salty so I ate half of them. My bill was $10.07. I will find someplace else to eat Tuesday morning even if I have to drive. Four years later and Sammy's is still my favorite spot in town to get breakfast. I've had the pleasure of watching them grow from a one room diner to now a much larger establishment, all while maintaining the homey and cared for feel. The food is still inexpensive and delicious (I don't know how someone said they spent $50 for two to dine here- that's called user error, and is no fault of a restaurant that prices most meals at $9). You can constantly see "Sammy" himself walking around talking to guests (I don't know if his name is actually Sammy but he's the owner). Waitresses are friendly and attentive. That was it, they had empty tables, but was told they were for party of 4 or more only. What the heck! Solid beach diner for breakfast. We got seated by the window right away. I got biscuits and gravy and a fruit bowl, both from the sides menu. The fruit bowl was a full big bowl of fresh fruit. It was delicious and I was not expecting so much variety. Usually it's just a side of canned fruit... but this was amazing. I also ordered biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were a little hard but generally ok, but the gravy was absent much sausage and could have used a little more greAse. This places doesn't even get a star. We came here during the plunge weekend so I expected a long wait. However I didn't expect to be skipped for other parties several times. What was said to be a 10 minutes wait became a 30 minute one. We had a party of 7 and they seated us at a table for 6. Asked for another chair and had to find one myself. The silverware on the table was set for 5. Once again we had a party of 7. We had to grab our own silverware from buckets to even mix our coffee. Which after being seated we waited for 15 minutes before anyone came to get our drink orders. Food came out on hot plate but the food was cold. Bacon was AWFUL! How do you even mess up bacon. Coffee was watered down. And the waffles was hard like a brick. We will not be returning to this place ever again. Really fast service. Food was good, nothing super special. Prices are good for the basics but really high for any extras (OJ, extra eggs, etc). Portions could be slightly bigger for hungry adults so extras are necessary for some of us. Server was very attentive, kind of overly so... It's really more of a 2.5. A real typical beach diner but I didn't like how it was overpriced and that the portions were small. There are good "bad diners" and then there really are completely unimpressive diners. I wouldn't have eaten here if other places had been open for the lunch hour. The missus ordered a half a turkey breast sandwich with salad and I got the tuna steak sandwich. Her salad could have been a ziploc bag salad from the grocery store and the sandwich was low budget grade lunch meat. My tuna steak was solid but overcooked to the max. I doubt it was fresh, or if it was, it was so overcooked I couldn't really tell. However, the servers were all very nice and the live birds were interesting (that's the extra 0.5). read more

We ordered a fajita salad and a crabcake sandwich. While I honestly can't say anything bad about the food, I have never seen smaller portions. This is place is nothing to brag about. We decided to eat here for breakfast on our last day in Rehoboth Beach. I ordered buttermilk pancakes (topped with strawberries) with egg whites and turkey bacon. My wife ordered the french toast combo, which comes with two strips of bacon, sausage, and two eggs any style. The pancakes were fine. My egg whites were what I expected. What shocked me was the turkey bacon. It looked like dog treats. It was incredibly thin and tough. I should have sent it back and asked for turkey sausage instead, but I just dealt with it. This place isn't terrible, but it is an option for breakfast if you're looking for a fairly priced place to eat while your vacationing in Rehoboth. I can only make two positive statements: 1) they had coffee ‍ 2) it was super close to our hotel and we could run and not get drenched (it was raining). The eggs tasted weird. I came here craving an omelette & Sammy's did not disappoint! I said I like it "green" with lots of veggies, and it arrived quickly with tons of nice broccoli, fresh spinach, and green peppers, and the cheese of my choosing. Coffee was nice and hot, and I was served a refill.
