In terms of the food, this place pulls some major punches for a "fast casual" style of operation. My friend said the shrimp he had was the best he's had EVER grilled. My food was also excellent - I had the gyros (pronounced the correct way), as well as a greek salad. We ended up getting the feta fries and they were amazing but huge, so we left with some heavy stomachs. Wish the prices were a little more modest, but I suppose they are pretty competitive to other local establishments. Either way, we'd recommend visiting this place, hands-down. read more

We tried a platter: one skewer of kebab ( you can choose between chicken, pork, lamb, beef or shrimp) that comes with two sides ( choice between roasted potato or veggies, fries, rice , salad). For about $16 it is a full healthy meal ( especially if you choose veggies and salad for the sides). Very friendly and efficient service. Choice of an outdoor sitting. Good luck finding a parking spot out, depending on the day and time. But there is a garage to park in. When I walked in it's pretty quaint and cute. I noticed the sell certain beers which I was not aware off. The atmosphere was calm and quiet and very clean. They were patient as I browsed the menu deciding what I would get. I ordered the chicken skewer w/ roasted potatoes and French fries. I tried to switch to a salad for one of my sides. But my meal was already put together. They were very sweet about it though. The fries were hot and salted. I do wish they were either fried longer or fried twice. They were a little too soft for my liking. I like my fries much much crispier but they were decent overall. The chicken skewer was seasoned and I loved the grilled taste! Paired with the tzatziki sauce, so good!! The pita was soft and good as well. As I was eating I realized I've ate here before because the roasted potato chunks are big but I didn't like them. This time I tried them they were very seasoned, soft and buttery, and flavorful. WOW this is some good Greek food. The chicken pita wrap is by far the best thing I have eaten in a while. I added feta to it and it was the perfect combo of fresh tasting ingredients. I also LOVE how they wrap it with aluminum foil to make it easier to eat...make sure to keep it on while you eat. The chicken skewer was good but definitely wanted some side dipping sauce for it. I was told in a meeting that Samos is a go to spot. It was pretty bumping inside, filled tables, line, but everything was going by relatively quick including the food. Got 2 gyros, one lamb and one sliced gyro meat with some Greek fries. No complaints really. Just that the lamb was a little chewy, but I find that many restaurants don't fully know how to cook lamb. I would note that when it is busy it's hard to find a table and with that the tables don't really get cleaned up after each time it was used. Honestly it was really filling and kind of reminds me of big greek cafe. Will be back if I'm in the mood for Greek food! read more

This place is still a lunch time go to when I don't have my meal preps handy. The only notable change is the price. A greek salad with chicken, add extra chicken is a little overs $20. That's on the expensive side, but I justify it because I can split it in 2 for a light lunch and dinner. Calling in an order is still very easy and they have a nice informal space to eat if you choose to dine inside. May I kiss the chef?! This is take out done right! I have never had takeout that was just as delectable and fresh as in restaurant dining, but this is not just takeout quality good. This food is fine dining good, for take out prices! I've gone to fine restaurants whose lamb chops could never compete with theirs. I will certainly be adding this to my list of favorites. I got the lamb chops with roasted potatoes and octopus. Normally, roasted potatoes that are thick cut are pretty dry. These had been marinaded and are succulent and robustly flavorful! The octopus is also typically quite difficult to pull off. They did so effortlessly. It was perfectly textured, saporous, mmmmmmm...and then, the Lamb! Flame grilled, perhaps? Perfectly sapid, charred yet still delicately tender. My family got gyros and kebabs! They felt equally as satisfied with everything! This is Greek food done right! And I ordered via Uber eats. While driving through Whetstone, I came across Samos and my salivatory glands just started up. I LOVE Greek food but you can't trust everyone's way of preparing it, right? I decided I'd give Samos a 'go' and saw there was a away to order via the mobile app. Cool. While effective, it could use a little tweaking. Suggestions: 1) Allow a space to add notes (fry hard, extra sauce, no blah blah blah). There's no space / section for that. 2) once the order is placed, it's very efficient showing u all steps to the transaction. What it's lacking is a projected 'ready by' time, so u know when to pick it up. It can sit on the counter waiting for an undetermined amount of time or you can get there and they haven't even started. I would think it's a simple 'add', but I'm no IT guy. On to the choices for this maiden run. Melitzanosalata: Roasted eggplant, garlic, lemon, olive oil. My 'fat boy' genes kicked in and I didn't realize it at the time but I had baba ghanoush in my head. I was ready for those (BG) flavors. This side dish was more on the sweet side than the earthy, garlicky, herbaceous palette I was expecting to be hit with, while experiencing baba ganoush. Ah well. That's my fault. I take full responsibility bc my head wasn't in the right space so I will say, if you are looking for a sweeter side to dip your pita bread and cucumbers, this is prob a good choice for you. Spanakopita: Spinach, feta, herbs, wrapped in filo and baked. This was a very generous serving. It was light, flaky, flavorful. I really enjoyed the spanakopita. SCORE!!! I would return. After coming here a decent amount within the last year, I would say Samos is a solid 3. The portions are HUGE for the price and you can easily get 2 meals out of it. I highly recommend the gyro platter because you will get the most meat with this order. The skewer orders are skimpy. Overall, it's decent food, but I wouldn't say it's anything mind blowing or extremely flavorful. I love the pita wraps with chicken, gyro, or shrimp. All of them are a pretty substantial portion size, and their meat is tender and juicy. You can customize the vegetables and add plenty of options like feta, hummus, etc. I get it every time I come here. The veggie moussaka is delicious as well, one of my friends drives 30min just to get it here. For dessert, the baklava and galaktoboureko are also very tasty. I love the former when I want a sweet nutty flavor, and the later when I'm craving a creamier custard texture. Lastly, customer service!! I once made an error on an online order that made my order unable to be seen here. But, once I arrived, the staff went out of their way to fix everything for me at no cost. Have been to Samos a few times, and each visit we've only appreciated their food (and service) more and more, with the most recent visit a few days ago which prompted this review. To start with, the tzatziki, which was creamy and delicious with the fresh cucumber and pita slices. Also as a side their amazing roasted potatoes which were just the best. First impressions are the best! They aren't too far from me and on my way into the city. It reminds me of one of those corner carry outs all around the city but cleaner and worthy of me stepping in. I snapped some pictures before and that's when I truly realized how good it actually looked. Omg! FRESH FRESH FRESH. The red & white onions, tomatoes, light tzatziki sauce, and juicy hot slices made the perfect gyro. I wanted to try their baklava but it was displayed on the counter and didn't look too appetizing under the cloche. There are dessert shops for baklava though.
