Decided to try this place since we were in seaside and it wasn't busy (should have been our first clue). It smelled pretty bad in the whole restaurant but we're at the beach ya know. The wait staff was horrible, not friendly in the least and most of the time couldn't even be found. The food was so overpriced for the quality. My teenager literally said McDonald's would have been a better option. After a $40 bill for 2 burgers and a small order of clamstrips. We paid, left a cash tip on the table. We also got the mushroom burger, again nothing special. Cafe is small overall and seemed well staffed, but the service was super slow. Our waitress was as bland as the food and was having a grouchy day. Our tip would have tripled had the waitress acted like we weren't ruining her life. Hidden gem in Seaside. I've lived here for over 3 years and am mad it took me so long to eat here.food was amazing. 2 pounds of steamer clams in garlic butter broth for $22, a great deal. They were so good we wanted to drink the remaining broth. We also split the bacon cheddar burger with onion rings, they split it for us which was super nice of them. Very plain and casual atmosphere (so it's great for kids). It wasn't crowded when we visited either. Prices and food was fine. I ordered the homemade veggie burger and it was good. Not fantastic, but I would eat it again. My husband had the salmon burger. I liked that a bit less. Kid's meals were pretty good. My daughter had the chicken strips and those were clearly house made. Not the usual frozen chicken nuggets. The chicken was breast meat too and the breading extra crispy. The fries that came with the kid meals were underwhelming though. Rather soggy. But I try not to eat those anyway. Both my husband and I upgraded our meals to include a side salad instead of fries. Decent mix of greens rather than just iceberg lettuce. Tough to get this wrong and we found the chips satisfying, the salsa acceptably spicy. After looking the menu over, my wife decided on the fish and chips. They looked great and I found myself thinking I needed to try them next time. My wife really liked the garlic toast (she calls herself a "breadaholic"). She couldn't finish the fries so I got to help there. Despite other poster's comments, I liked them as they were fresh-cut - what's not to love? I decided on a chef salad and bowl of the soup du jour - tomato bisque. The soup was good . The salad fresh and tasty, although on the small side. I loved this place! It's a little dive restaurant in the downtown area that has character... and the best sweet potato fries. I had the turkey sandwich on a croissant and it was really good. Croissant bread wasn't that fresh but the turkey was great! Not that cheap rubbery turkey most deli sandwiches are made of. Our waitress was super cute and very attentive.
