Decided to try this place since we were in seaside and it wasn't busy (should have been our first clue). It smelled pretty bad in the whole restaurant but we're at the beach ya know. The wait staff was horrible, not friendly in the least and most of the time couldn't even be found. The food was so overpriced for the quality. This was a pretty good place to eat in a very touristy area. Service was prompt and efficient, with our server making sure we had drinks at all times. The food came out quickly and was reasonably priced, especially given the area. The fish and chips were tasty and it was a fair portion. We added the cup of clam chowder, and it was creamy and thick. Hidden gem in Seaside. I've lived here for over 3 years and am mad it took me so long to eat here.food was amazing. 2 pounds of steamer clams in garlic butter broth for $22, a great deal. Very plain and casual atmosphere (so it's great for kids). It wasn't crowded when we visited either. Prices and food was fine. I ordered the homemade veggie burger and it was good. Not fantastic, but I would eat it again. My husband had the salmon burger. I liked that a bit less. Kid's meals were pretty good. My daughter had the chicken strips and those were clearly house made. Not the usual frozen chicken nuggets. The chicken was breast meat too and the breading extra crispy. The fries that came with the kid meals were underwhelming though. Rather soggy. Tough to get this wrong and we found the chips satisfying, the salsa acceptably spicy. After looking the menu over, my wife decided on the fish and chips. They looked great and I found myself thinking I needed to try them next time. My wife really liked the garlic toast (she calls herself a "breadaholic"). She couldn't finish the fries so I got to help there. Despite other poster's comments, I liked them as they were fresh-cut - what's not to love? I decided on a chef salad and bowl of the soup du jour - tomato bisque. The soup was good . The salad fresh and tasty, although on the small side. This is the type of place I would usually like. I loved the open layout, booths and decor. We felt at home right away. The atmosphere was laid back and the waitress was kind. The problem is the food. I ordered shrimp Louie and pizza for my 2 year old. Grand daughter with a side of fries The salad is 11.99 but is the size of a side salad with only a few shrimp. The fries were extremely soggy and fell apart as we pick them. Her pizza was a microwaved red baron pizza that was tough all around the edges from being nuked too long. She refused to eat it or the fries. 2 of her favorite foods. When I complained to the waitress she said she wouldn't charge us and she would get us something else but I declined as I didn't know what i could order that would be made well. Been stopping at Sam's every time I come to Seaside, going on four years. And every time it is for the burger and fries. The burgers are tasty (87% fat) beef and not salty. The buns are grilled, unlike one place that nuked their buns to toughen them up. And the fries? If you like real russet fries, this is the place to be.
