Lashonda was quick to look up availability and found some potential move out units near my expected move in date. The entire transaction was approximately 45 minutes but it felt faster. My background - 6x military/full service, long distance, cross continental and international moves in the past 7 years. 1 bedroom apartment w/o garage. No major appliances. Bed/desk/chair/couch for major furniture only. Having seen how fast movers typically work when they're being paid by mileage and poundage, vice getting paid per hour, this was absolutely ridiculous how slow this team was. Normally I'm unable to help movers because they're moving so quickly - packing, moving, staging gear, etc., but with this team, I was clearly the third mover helping the process out. There was zero sense of urgency until I formally called them out on taking their sweet time. Their packing work was extraordinarily shoddy - literally boxes half full and others looking like they "poured" my bookshelves into boxes with books with bent pages and cracked open, with taping jobs that I have never seen in any of my moves (who tapes "x"s on the boxes instead of sealing the edges?). To describe the entire process - sloppy. Considering how expensive this process was and how little was done (they were unable to move my 1 bedroom apartment ten minutes away in 5.5 hours, from an apartment w/ an elevator to a single story house with street access), I did not get value for my money. I ended up moving the remaining 20% of my stuff w/ my friend, fuming about how much money was spent and wasted with La Jolla Moving Company. *UPDATE* (2.5 months): I finally closed the loop w/ the staff and customer service side of the house w/ La Jolla Movers. Initially they seemed very concerned and wanted to do right by me, calling me and being proactive to find out what happened and to rectify the situation. I fully understand and accept that they cannot control every single one of their movers and drivers (reasonable), so I was very clear that my issues were w/ my particular movers, and that they probably do have plenty of good movers in their staff. Ultimately it was determined to refund me some of the time that was lost in the move, which I thought was fair. If this was done expeditiously, I would have easily changed my review to 3+ stars, because a leadership team's follow-up is everything, and the effort to make things right and do the right thing by the customer (not just catering to a customer's whiny needs) - should be recognized. Honesty and integrity are important in a moving company. It ended up taking months to finally close this loop, which ended up being very frustrating with me constantly hunting down CSRs and leadership. Yes, I believe the final financial settlement was fair, but the multiple delays and lack of communication made things incredibly difficult. I tried to give them plenty of opportunities to prove the experience to be an anomaly, but ended up still somewhat frustrated w/ my experience. Upgraded my review as a result, but still very lukewarm about my experience with the company.

He started by telling me he needed to pack the TV in boxes and would charge me extra. Which I replied to by telling him he can cover with a blanket and Saran Wrap, which he ended up doing. But not after arguing. I called my fiancé to come speak to them as I felt uncomfortable, my fiancé asked him about his attitude and comments, and he quickly retracted, saying he only gets paid $20 per hour. Why is this my business when I'm getting charged $85/hr? My fiancé then asked if he had any issues with the move that we could just cancel all together. Elmurod never replied, but they proceeded with the move. During the six hours they were there, Elmurod was constantly on his phone. They eventually called a third person to help them move. However, upon arriving at our new house, Elmurod said he couldn't move our couch upstairs, it had the same layout as our previous home. We asked Elmurod and the extra mover to try and move the couch, and the other guys said they would. Not only did Elmurod demanded us to pay each man a $50 tip, but he also wanted to be paid upfront, even though they hadn't completed the job. We asked Elmurod to please work on the couch as the final item to be moved. To our surprise, while we waited for them, they simply left and let our couch in the garage and other furniture with our door open. As well as a bunch of packing trash behind. When I contacted their manager I been getting the run around, I shared photos of damaged furniture and shared the additional $190 I had to pay to get our couch moved upstairs. Still no reply and no resolution. I will be filling a claim. Furthermore, our dining table and chair got damaged during the move, even though you pay additional for their insurance they won't honor it. They contacted me and refused to provide a refund for additional movers to complete the move of the left over furniture and also stated they wouldn't provide any money back due to me leaving a negative review.

No where did the conversation say the price agreed upon was for cash only but apparently now it is. Day of at end of move, the price changed. Even though I double checked with them about pricing multiple times. After the move I simply asked for an itemized receipt or breakdown of pricing bc it wasn't adding up correctly for the amount of time and price agreed upon. NEVER got that btw. The ONE and only request i made again was for carpet protection bc i had just cleaned our carpets at the new place but they didn't come prepared for that despite making sure. That's the second time. Your service will depend on whoever they hired to help you. One of my items was damaged (not that severe but just letting you guys know and no compensation or anything). This team wasn't as efficient as the last two people hired. No sense of urgency, always asking for water (which i gave), disappearing for some time or on call. It was to a point where I stepped in to help do whatever i can which I believe defeats the purpose of hiring people. Although overall, the move was completed. The person communicating with me was going to have the small refund that i never got be taken out of the mover's pockets also btw. Never heard that of a business and I never asked of that nor do i respect it. i've tried communicating with them, giving a month to resolve this but was given snarky responses, attitude and being left on read. I'd look elsewhere for a more professional team. I can't believe the responses I was given and how this was handled.

The entire process was easy from start to finish. Max and his team worked hard and handled everything smoothly. Even though we only had a one-bedroom apartment, the distance from our apartment door to the moving truck was long, and our townhome has two separate entrances on different streets, which made things more complicated. We still have storage units to empty, and I'll definitely be calling them again next week to get that scheduled. Highly recommend.

Enter EZ moving company. We had gotten several quotes in the area that made me want to straight up sell all my stuff but EZ moving company swooped in and literally saved the day. To start they were affordable and the entire package. Once we explained our situation as well they were so KIND offering words of comfort. We put down a deposit and three weeks later on a Friday morning 4 guys showed up on time to pack up our place. They were nice and worked fast, a little over 5 hours and everything was packaged with such care and I was able to ask them to leave out our necessities for the next few days. Saturday morning the crew showed up on time and ready to work as they loaded their truck not once but twice to move our things over to our new place. They took apart and put back together our furniture. Put most things in the places I requested and UNWRAPPED everything! Meaning I didn't have to fight with my nightstand for months later bc it was already cleanly unpackaged. And drumroll.....NOTHING was broken. Not a thing. Not a piece of furniture, not one mirror (we have 3), not a dish or glass bowl, or lamp or anything. Moving with this company was such a breeze they make me feel at ease if we ever have to use their services again. Which we most definitely will and recommend to everyone we know. You can tell they're an extremely hard working, small family biz who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty and for that I am so grateful to have found such a great company to help me transition during a difficult time.

Guess I get to go first with the review on this company (yay) . . . Let's be honest - at the end of the day, the only difference between moving companies (aside from price) is the staff. I used San Diego Moving for help loading some storage containers that we were renting during a remodel on our home (see my other review for Big Box Storage). The staff made the difference. Scheduled with the company the day before the actual job. It was a rather small job, which ended up taking just under three hours, but I opted to use a moving company as I had a few larger items that I needed to store and needed help moving them. Called their offices, call went well. The phone rep (sorry, can't remember her name) was quite nice, personable, and informative, without trying to push me into using them. Not sure what the general range for pricing is for moving companies, but of the three that I called, these guys were the lowest. Rate was $84 per hour which covered two guys and the truck (although in my case, I didn't really need the truck as they were just loaded large storage containers). There was no extra fees whatsoever (other than a roll of tape I bought from them for $2.39). As I said, I used them for just under three hours, but they have a three hour minimum which they did inform me of prior to the job. Total cost (w/o the tape) was $252. I honestly expected it to take 5+ hours so I was actually quite surprised/pleased when they finished in almost half the time (and half the cost). Best part of the service though was the two movers that actually handled the work. Without trying to sound as though I'm exaggerating, they were both some of the nicest guys I've ever met. I ended up tipping them 25% of the cost, which (for me) is an amount that is way, way off the charts - not that I consider myself cheap or anything :-) They were cautious with every piece of furniture, yet didn't waste a minute of time. They listened to my wife's frustrations and remarks (quite stressful for her) and countered with comments that just made her smile (begrudgingly at first). Job well done!!! Already recommended them to my cousin for an upcoming move between Carmel Valley and Carlsbad. read more

Darren and his team did a very good job from a service perspective. Darren, himself, obviously has a ton of experience and was on point in directing his team. A dream team of movers would be a bunch of Darren's. They took their time wrapping my belongings but didn't seem to lag too much. The only downside to my experience was the misunderstanding about price. When I was told how the drive time was calculated (travel time x 2 x hourly rate) I didn't understand that it was completely separate from the moving time (even though part of that time was spent driving). I take my fair share of the responsibility for the misunderstanding. I think an electronic quote would help for clarity, something on paper for the customer to see. Nothing worse then having a surprise cost (even though it wasn't their intention). Darren was probably frustrated that I interpreted it differently, which is understandable. At the end of the day he made it right which goes a long way and is exactly the type of thing that will bring me back as a repeat customer. I'm giving them 5 stars. Misunderstanding aside (I was at least partly to blame) my stuff was in the same condition as it was when they took it out of my storage unit and his team was easy to work with. If you are unsure, just ask as many questions as you can about price for clarity and your own piece of mind. Next time I move I will use them and I suggest that anyone else moving gives them a call as well. read more

Simply put, if you move anywhere in San Diego and don't use San Diego Moving Company, you're wrong. I left on short notice last year on a military deployment, and Darren was very accommodating in terms of getting my move out scheduled quickly. His team of movers (sorry guys, I can't remember your names!) were fast, efficient, and professional in getting my things out of my apartment and into a storage unit. I came back a few weeks ago and had them move me into a new apartment, and got the same awesome service that I had the first time. Thanks to Darren, Cricket, and the other guys on the moving team, not a single one of my belongings was scratched, dented, or otherwise damaged in any way. The movers even stayed polite and professional in the face of a resident in my building who confronted them because she thought they were moving me in "at an inconvenient time." Like Lanie said in her review above, these guys know the HOA rules in and out, so that was an added bonus! We used SD Moving Company about 2 1/2 years ago and I just wanted to say I would use them again. We moved recently and I tried to reach out to them but ended up going with another company. Long story! 2 1/2 years ago Darin and two other movers showed up on time and did an awesome job! Took them less than 4 hours to move us. Coastal Moving Company (858) 397-5586 (owner is Ryan) is HORRIBLE!! Please do not us them! The movers were slow and did not wrap anything like they said they would.It took them 8 hours to move us. One guy wasn't even experienced we didn't know this until later. They damaged our new tile and now after weeks and weeks of calling them to get a complaint form. No luck! Ryan keeps saying he has emailed and texted it to me. I totally recommend SD Moving CO! Hope someone reads this and it helps them make a decision on who not to use. I'd like to give the guys at San Diego Moving Company five stars because they were professional from start to finish. I was able to get a hold of Darren on the first try for an estimate. His prices are very competitive and well worth every penny spent. We moved from a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo, just enough to where I didn't feel like U-hauling it. They arrived on time, took a visual inventory and got to work. They took the boxes first so try to have those ready to go at the start. They worked diligently, wrapping our furniture and large pictures/art. Once we arrived at the new place the unload was a piece of cake despite the three story townhouse we moved into. We started at 9:30am and finished by 2:30pm, easy peasy! Thanks again for all the help, it was well worth it. I recommend San Diego Moving Company to anyone looking for movers! read more

Called Darren to set up a move. We were moving my girlfriend from El Cajon to Lemon Grove. Darren was very helpful and pleasant. He took down my info, asked a few questions about size and quantity, and had my quote to me the next day. I was fine with his quote and set the appointment up for a Saturday at 9.30. The two movers who showed up on time (Brian & Keenan) very polite and considerate. My girlfriend orchestrated the move on the pickup end and I handled the receiving end. It was not a huge move (slightly over the 3 hour minimum). Brian and Keenan even helped me make some room in the house to place some boxes. All in all it was a very good experience. As a single, senior citizen woman, I decided to downsize from a home to a condo. OMGosh, Chris and Freddie were wonderful. They worked so hard and fast! These 2 men had my home loaded up in less than 3 hours. They were friendly and chatted with me but kept working the whole time. Amazing!!! When we arrived at the condo, there were unfriendly new neighbors complaining about the moving truck. I was too tired to intervene. Chris and Freddie were extremely nice to these people and took care of the issue in a very professional way. It all started with a typical video call, we used AOL 2003, but the next thing I knew, I found myself in an immersive virtual experience like no other! I had an outstanding experience with the San Diego Moving company. The team arrived right on time, worked efficiently, and treated every item with care. They wrapped all our furniture securely, disassembled and reassembled everything perfectly, and handled fragile pieces as if they were their own. Best moving company ever. I've moved over a dozen times and this team is the best. Quick, courteous, helpful, and they work hard! From our initial interaction with Darren and through our communication with the office and the actual movers, everyone is a true professional and so helpful. Can't say that enough. I highly recommend San Diego Moving! Why did I choose them? because when I called (& every time I called) Daren (the owner) answered the phone and all my questions and had great suggestions. I recently used them to move 2 different households and both times the crews were awesome, quality guys that listened, cared, and spoke English as their first language. I would rather pay a premium for a crew like this. This was the first time I had ever used movers and I will never move myself again. The owner is super professional, the movers are professional and laid back and the whole experience was amazing. Have your stuff packed and they take care of the rest. Junior and Antonio showed up at 9 and we were done and moved in by 2. Everything fragile was blanketed and shrink wrapped. This was my first time hiring this company. I had Anthony and Chris for my move. They were both great - professional, efficient, experienced (expert at wrapping furniture), accommodating, never appeared to feel frustrated or put upon. These guys are out of this world! The owner Darren was in great communication leading up to the move and the day of. Getting a quote and booking were simple. They are professional, fast, and have good personalities so they are nice to have around. They even packed up random stuff I just stopped seeing in the mass of boxes. I just used San Diego Moving Company for the second time and again they were amazing! It is a true sign of a professional, reliable company to be able to send out different movers that were just as great as the first. I had three guys come, they were all professional and got my house moved without one scratch or broken item. Jesus and Luis moved me out of my high rise condo downtown, locally a few days ago and they were Fantastic! Jesus knew the building and the ins/outs of HOA rules with movers which was a HUGE plus. They were very professional, politel and worked fast and efficient to power it out and get it done! Ray, Alex and Tye were great!. I appreciated that Darren arrived with them and took the time to make sure our massive move would be well-organized. We had a ton of stuff to move and they took care of it all and put up with my very curious 7 year old in the process. I really appreciate that they were kind and patient with him, too. Darren and Tony helped me with my move and they were both so friendly and professional. I moved out of a storage unit so there was another moving company there moving someone else, and Tony and Darren had completely loaded the truck before the other movers even started. I was told that even though I was proactive about the challenges at the destination, the move and charges are what they are. I wished them the best, and hopefully my negative review remains an outlier.* I want to start by saying that I explained to A Smart Move that I would be leaving a poor review based on my experience with their pricing. I was told that they understood and would share my feedback internally. I was quoted just under $2k for a 3 bedroom move 5 miles (about 15min drive) away. The destination address is on a steep hill, and I made sure to send pictures and ask questions before the move. I was told that it would be no problem at all. The move was rough. They started at 8am and were loaded by around 1pm. At 2pm (includes a lunch break) they arrived at the destination and decided on the spot not to use the driveway and to cart my items up the steep driveway by hand. It ran long, and I was told around 4pm that they would be calling an extra two people to help at a cost of $135/hr. I was told I did not have a choice in this. They arrived at 4:30pm, and we were all finished at 5:10pm. So, doing the math, we had $2,000 for the move, $135 x 2 which we will round up to $300, and I added insurance the day before for $300. Our total due should be roughly $2,600, minus the $200 deposit I already gave them, for $2,400. The evening of the move they attempted to charge me $4,109.58, which was luckily declined. Over the following day or two I had several calls with them. They explained that they were already discounting the rate, and that the weight of items moved was higher than their initial estimate and made more work. I get that estimates can be wrong, but they actually moved LESS items than what was estimated due to me doing numerous van loads before move day. Additionally, at the destination, all I asked them to do was put the furniture in the correct rooms and leave the boxes outside the garage door for me to put away. Anyway, at the end of the day, I ended up paying a total of $3,312.78. Not including the insurance costs, that's just over a grand in additional fees, or an added 50% of the total cost to move. The excess really stretched us financially. I charged it to a credit card only to be told that there would be additional fees now for credit card usage. This was right after we got a $25 credit for having to clean up trash that they left in my front yard. We didn't even mention that the bathroom in our new place was peed all over, which was a delight to clean. My wife and I have mobility issues, so we really needed the help on this move, and it was incredibly frustrating to have this experience. All of this said, the movers themselves worked extremely hard. We bought them lunch between the loading/unloading, offered water throughout the day, and tipped them in cash.

Despite their marketing promise to "Calm Your Chaos," they created nothing but challenges from start to finish. The Good: The San Diego pickup crew worked hard, and our driver Shaun was communicative and professional. The Bad - Everything Else: Delivery Day Disaster: The Texas delivery team arrived 3 hours late. We received only two text updates well after they were already behind schedule. When I was told to start calling the crew myself to get updates, I knew we were in trouble. Understaffed and Unprepared: Despite our contract specifying 6 team members, only 5 showed up - including two extremely young, inexperienced workers who couldn't handle basic tasks. My husband and I ended up moving our own furniture and reassembling pieces ourselves because the crew was so ineffective. Significant Damage: They damaged an antique desk (that we were told they would treat with ultimate care), knocked a ceiling fan from its mount (exposing dangerous wires), gouged our stairwell, and broke an electrical outlet cover. Multiple smaller items were also damaged. Dishonest Claims Process: The real nightmare began with the claims process. After waiting nearly 4 months, and spending countless hours on documentation, they offered $60 to repair an antique desk. They claimed they never received photos, The final settlement offer came with a gag order prohibiting any negative reviews. Broken Promises: Ultimately, the upfront promises turned to gaslighting and customer shaming once we moved in to the claims process. The Worst Part: A pattern of hoping customers will just accept subpar service and minimal compensation rather than speak up. The gag clause in their settlement agreement suggests this isn't isolated and may be why their current online review schema is so high.
