The turkey was juicy with sourdough bread, good cheddar cheese, not overly mayonnaised, and a few large leaves of lettuce. I had the best hike after this delicious 1/2 of the sandwich. Ate the other the day prior and it was so delicious I scarfed it down forgetting to take a picture. $14.49 and again can feed 2 people. This place stays really busy for a reason - exceptional food and great service. If I lived in Redding, this would be a dangerous place for me.

It was uncomfortable for everyone. All of us customers and the other employees just watching, that poor girl getting yelled at in front of everyone, it was just terrible. After that the owner just grabbed her things and stormed out, too. Like a toddler storming off to another room after throwing a tantrum. Super unprofessional and immature. Honestly I don't know how this woman still has any employees. God knows I wouldn't work for her. This isn't the first time I've seen something like this either. I've seen her yell at at least one other person, and I've heard her make several rude comments either at or about other employees.

At Placer Heights the salad bar is always fresh and has a dedicated attendant who also freshen the soups and cleans and stocks the bar. I've also seen (who appears to be) an upper manager who will periodically do spot checks with thermometers to ensure quality control. Wow! Very impressed! The deli is great. Meats and cheeses are always fresh. Produce is fresh and bread is fresh. Best deal in town for a sandwich and a soda! Produce rocks. Everything is fresh and presents well. But by far, the single main draw is the staff. Outstanding customer service professionals from the store manager to the Supervisors and from the head clerk to the grocery clerks and baggers. They definitely hire a type: Customer service oriented, amiable, professional, and friendly! That's why I shop and/or have lunch there nearly every day! So, here it goes.... My fiance and I heard good reviews about this place from our friends. So we decided to give it a try. It was friday afternoon 3:08 to be exact, resturaunt was empty. We were the only customers and this was our first time here. We werent greeted when we came in, we had issues figuring out the menu, but the girl behind the counter just watched as we struggled to find what we would like to eat. So my fiance ordered the hot pastrami...no complaints! She said it was better than don's sandwich shops pastrami. I ordered the hoagy on dutch crunch bread add sprouts and a couple deviled eggs. Was unhappy when i got my sandwich..no sprouts! So i told the girl there were no sprouts, and she insisted they were under the lettuce and walked away. So i looked under the lettuce...no sprouts! Went to the counter and explained, and the problem was fixed. The sandwich was very dry and needed more spread or something! The deviled eggs were better than my sandwich! As i looked around, i noticed that the floor needed sweeping, there were chips and crumbs everywhere! None of the tables were wiped down and had sandwich crumbs on them! Remind you....we were the only customers, and it looked like business was slow! I dont think we will be coming back! For this to be happening at a slow time is ubacceptable! Are you kidding? Terrible. The first time I had the tri-tip sandwich. The meat was dry and thick, laced with grissle. Granted Tri-tip is not the best cut, but chewing on leather would have been better. The meat was so thick one bite the whole sandwich was pulled apart. The guy cooking the meat looks like he is on a work release program. So I went a second time and tried the pastrami. Sorry this pastrami is terrible. NO flavor at all, very little meat for the price. Pastrami is a flavorful meat, and this isn't it. The bread was ok, nothing spectacular. Though I never went to the other SF Deli in Discovery Village I can see why it closed. They rely on a captve audience who believe they have no other place to go. Unlike most people in Redding who love the standard box meal, subway, etc. they will never step out and try something new. This place is a great local spot with a mellow atmosphere and solid sandwiches. I came in a little scared by the middling reviews and the San Francisco name. I recently moved from the area and anywhere else I have been that leveraged San Francisco in name or atmosphere really bastardized and embarrassed it and themselves. I have to say that the place was NOT San Francisco at all. And that was a good thing. The prices were actually reasonable, there was no pompous staff expressing how much cooler they were than all of the patrons, and I didn't have to leapfrog a homeless person or an array of needles to enter. I had the hoagie and it was what you should expect from a good sandwich. Stuffed with meat, straightforward and good. Nothing deconstructed. No drizzle. Just meat, bread and a plate. Done! We had SF Deli cater our daughter's wedding at TBS ranch. We used John and his staff for both the food and beverage catering. John provided excellent service on both sides. The Tri Tip/Chicken dinner was delicious and the quantity served was plentiful so everyone could have seconds if desired. John was easy to work with and his entire staff provided great customer service. Highly recommend SF Deli for your catering needs. read more

Really good sandwiches. Take a young person there who has only had a sub at one of those chain restaurants and they will never go back. lots of good meats cheeses and other ingredients all on delicious breads. These are not $5 though, but you will get what you pay for. In this case a great sandwich every time. read more

The cream also has this odd cheese like flavor to it, only noticed after my girlfriend pointed it out though. The crepe was well cooked and a great thickness to hold everything, good buttery flavor. Discount for the weird cheese taste. Carne Asada Fries - 9/10 Very well seasoned carne asada, like, really good. The guac was really nice and creamy, tasted very fresh.
