Ramiro Ramirez of San Juan Tile & Stone Renovations addressed an issue with a water leak at my house. Ramiro was able to identify the source of the leak and corrected the problem. The repair involved both plumbing and drywall work. He clearly explained what led to the leak and helped me determine the best course of action. Ramiro also replaced the faucets in all the bathrooms and even fixed a door on his own accord. He was very thorough and cleaned up after the work was completed. Ramiro's work was excellent! What a 5 star worthy company! Ramiro went above and beyond our expectations while installing our kitchen backsplash! I originally chose a natural stone backsplash from Home Depot & mentioned to Ramiro that I wanted a clean/simple look. After starting the project and installing a few square feet of tiling- Ramiro went out of his way to stop and make sure I liked the look of the tile. He thought, given what I said about clean/simple, that the tiling was not going to reach my expectations. He was totally right! I was not happy with the natural stone at all- and he suggested several other tile ideas. He then proceeded to rip out the work he already did at no extra cost and agreed to come back the next day after I had time to shop around for some new tile. I'm so thankful that he (in addition to GREAT craftsmanship) has an eye for design and what looks good. He had a great attitude the whole time, and never seemed to be inconvenienced by my mistake. I am a recently a mom with a newborn and have a challenging schedule, but really felt compelled to write up a review for San Juan Tile & Stone Renovations since they did such a great job. We contracted Ramiro for our tile installation of our kitchen backsplash. I found him through Houzz.com. Even though he did not have any reviews I was drawn to what I saw on his website. From the pictures of his past jobs he seemed experienced in installing varying styles of tile, especially in regards to more involved designs instead of the standard vanilla "all same type" installation. From our first meeting Ramiro made us feel confident he knew what he was talking about. My husband and I had several ideas and wanted to use 3D effect travertine tile of different types (I will post pics to clarify), but after speaking to him on our initial visit he openly discussed whether our options would work or not. This was actually one of the significant things I was looking for in an installer because I didn't want someone who was just going to install whatever we wanted, but someone who could actually explain the logistics of whether what we were thinking would actually be feasible. He was really great at clarifying and simplifying our choices with his advice because he actually listened to what we were envisioning. He was very quick to consult with me while he was in the process of the installation to spot check with me on whether I was happy with how it was turning out or to show me how he was going to place our accent tiles in the overall field tile. He was very exacting and I appreciated his soliciting feedback to make sure we were seeing and getting what we wanted as the work progressed. Second, we had way one too many electrical outlets (like 8 what was the original builder thinking?!?!) and wanted to have someone terminate and seal them off to clean up the viewable backsplash area and reduce them down to 3 outlets. Ramiro was able to handle and do the work. It was actually great to know he could do more than just tile and we wouldn't have to hire a separate contractor. He actually does whole remodels and can be consulted for any other aspects of your job that you might need done. Then there was the fact that we actually asked him to start the work the Friday before Christmas! We had wanted to get this tile installation done at the beginning of the December month and had originally contacted Ramiro early on 12/2, but I went into labor and had the baby and of course everything got delayed! He was actually willing to work and finish everything before Christmas and we were grateful since most contractors were completely unavailable. Just his willingness to work with us on schedule was a huge bonus. My husband wanted this installation done before the end of the year and Ramiro totally came through. Last but no least we actually found his bid to be reasonable. We had a competing bid that was higher and they wouldn't and couldn't do the electrical work we needed. It was great to deal with just one person for everything to get the job done asap. All in all I usually don't have as much time to write reviews anymore but really felt San Juan Tile was exceptional in delivering quality work in a timely manner at a reasonable price. I am really glad we found Ramiro and will definitely be using him for any future jobs! read more

His estimate for the work to be completed was very reasonable but most importantly the hard work he put in on getting the job completed did not go unnoticed. Ramiro did an amazing job on my place. I was doing a major remodel on my condo. In several cases I've noticed that someone comes out and gives you an estimate. You feel confident in them, and then they send out the "D-Team", who does a bad job. After my bathroom was torn out, I told my electrician I wish I could have the shower without a dam around it. My electrician said he knew someone who could do this. I told him that I've been to hotels where the water goes everywhere. He said Ramiro had a lot of experience doing this. Sure enough, Ramiro did an excellent job, not just on this, but everything else. After seeing the results, my designer confirmed with me that he was doing a great job. She even had him work on other jobs. Ramiro not only did a very professional job with a great amount of attention to detail, my designer and I frequently consulted with him on his thoughts and ideas on what we could do on the next project. He had a lot of great ideas and solutions. He ended up also installing tile, bathroom vanity, the kitchen cupboards, and the kitchen counters, among many other things. I am so excited! This review is waaaay overdue. We have had Ramiro work in our home for several years. Five years ago, we bought a new home and he helped us with the remodel, at first installing tile floor throughout the house, backsplash and countertops in the kitchen, then handling the rehab of three bathrooms, plus all the while acting as project manager for other trades who did work, since we were living out of the area at the time. He also worked on the exterior of our home, created a stucco entry wall, installed concrete slabs, and changed the configuration of a travertine walkway. Ramiro understands all phases of construction, besides being an expert tile setter. He has a keen eye for design and pays attention to every detail. Besides being thorough and skilled in his profession, Ramiro is honest, trustworthy and communicative. A couple of years ago, Ramiro painted and installed new kitchen cabinet doors. Most recently, we hired Ramiro again to update two of the bathrooms. I wish I could give minus 5 stars due to the unprofessional, inconsiderate way in which this company or, Ramiro treated me. I should have noted the red flags with a few texts not answered and when Ramiro mentioned he had difficulty finding good people to work for him. Yes, he sowed up to give me 2 estimates but flaked after that. He sounded scattered. Today, I waited for him to show up to the appointment we made yesterday. I called him and texted multiple times and he didn't answer. I am used to dealing with contractors who worked in my rentals and my own home. Ramiro is a true craftsman! He gave us invaluable design input and did an amazing job installing our kitchen backsplash. I would highly recommend him for any tile project! The backsplash design I went with was a grey chevron layout with custom yellow and white accents (aka: I laid out the design myself). I requested bids from other companies and felt like my project was too inconvenient or too complicated for them. But Ramiro was excited about it! And the reviews I read were right, he has an amazing sense of design and balance and helped me make multiple changes to my pattern on the day of the installation to get it just right! This was such a big deal to me! He didn't rush me or get annoyed. There were at least two times (probably more like ten times) I said something like, "I think that's probably good" and he would put the accent tiles in place, tell me what he thought the problem was in the placement (he would be absolutely right), and we would move the accent tiles to a better spot. That being said, he never forced his opinion. He seems to have a great sense that we're the ones that will live with the finished product and he wanted to get it just right to our tastes. He nailed it! Ask him for his input on your design! You will be so happy you did! And when it comes to the basics of any good job, he knocked it out of the ballpark. He got the bid back to me quickly and was able to start work within a few days. Ramiro and his helper showed up on time the day of the installation, protected my floors and cabinets, did a small drywall patch in the backsplash area that I hadn't gotten to, worked quickly, cleanly, and were respectful in every way. He made great suggestions on design was very meticulous as he hand selected each marble tile and where they should be placed for the best results. We had high expectations when entering into a bathroom remodel contract with Ramiro and all of those expectations were exceeded. The look of our bathroom is amazing and even better than we expected. We recently completed a large-scale remodel of our kitchen and considered using the same company for the remodel. What impressed me during the initial consultation phase that set Ramiro apart from the company who remodeled the kitchen was how much design and style guidance he provided to us. Right off the bat the design ideas and practical suggestions Ramiro provided to us gave us a lot of confidence he was the guy who would get us exactly what we wanted. Now that our bathroom remodel is complete I'm here to share why I am very happy I chose Ramiro for the job: 1) He has a great sense of what will look good in your space. He is privy to modern styles and techniques. We installed porcelain wood style tile on our bathroom floor and in the shower. I had no idea how the tile should be installed; I figured it would be installed in the large planks it came in (shows how much I know!). Ramiro went above and beyond in painstakingly cutting the tile into small planks for the floors and even smaller little planks for the shower floor and the look is awesome! He did not need to do that but he took the initiative and delivered an incredible look. He was also able to advise me on the purchase of the right style mirror for the wall. 2) He is very open with communication; always asking for your opinion and direction to ensure he gets it right. Additionally he always answers emails, texts and phone calls so you feel you are always in touch. 3) He works with tried and true specialists for all the needs you may have with your remodel; paint, cabinets, glass. I didn't know what type of stone I would like with our vanity and he picked and got us (at a great price!) a beautiful piece of marble, could not be happier! 4) You can tell Ramiro is invested in your project and genuinely wants it to come out looking great. Ramiro taped and plastic sheeted the work area, then removed the carpet, plywood and hauled it away, installed a beautiful offset shaded travertine (original match was impossible to find) in two days, and it looks BEAUTIFUL !! Ramiro was awesome! I recently had my kitchen redone. Along with this I decided I should retile downstairs to complete the remodel. After several quotes to do this, I chose Ramiro as he had a competitive bid and had showed the initiative to get the job done right. After consulting with Ramiro, he suggested several additional steps that were not included by the other contractors. Ramiro came out and evaluated the concrete slab that the new limestone floor would cover. He pointed out that the cracks and un-level surface would need to be ground down, then sealed, then an under layment or moisture barrier would need to be applied before the stone was laid down. Prior to officially hiring him, he showed up with his concrete grinder to grind some of the un-even spots. Although we thought this would take an hour or so, he spent all day working, breaking mid point to go and purchase and to replace the expensive grinding disc that he had worn down on my floor. This was impressive and showed me the initiative and attention to detail he was willing to achieve. At the end of the day, I hired him and gave him the deposit knowing that would cover some of the expense he had already taken on. During the tiling process, Ramiro and his apprentice Valentine were always here on time. I know Ramiro had other jobs going on, but he came everyday he was scheduled and either he or Valentine were here at the time expected. After laying one layer of moisture barrier, Ramiro thought this wouldn't be enough and purchased material for a second layer, going beyond what was expected. Ramiro picked up the limestone for me although that was something that was not originally included. In addition, about 2/3 of the way through we had some bad tiles that we needed replaced. Ramiro made a second trip with me to hand select the remainder of the stone. In addition to all this, I know we used more thin set mortar then expected. Ramiro never asked for additional money for any of these unexpected costs. He even hauled away some miscellaneous construction materials left behind from the kitchen remodel. Lastly, my floors look awesome. I am so happy I hired him and will definitely hire him again when I am ready to continue upstairs in the bathrooms.
