I should give this place ZERO stars for wasting my time. Yes, its a Saturday, I understand that. Many of us we're all on tight schedules, some of us however are pretty laid back for a Saturday, and this was the case here at this location. I have two cars I needed to smog this day, and we read some reviews on Yelp knowing this place was fairly close to our place here in San Leandro. So, we decided to give them a call and we spoke to Richard over the phone and he told us to come on over. So we brought the two cars in, and some guy there came out and asked what we needed. We told him we needed two cars smogged (one test only AKA Star test, and one regular smog test), but he told us RIchard isnt there (when we just called literally 5 minutes ago) and that they are "pretty busy today" when I only saw 1 Honda CRV there in the bay getting smogged at the time. No other customers present waiting for their cars, and not much cars around in general. One technician was standing around holding a clipboard leaning on a pillar watching the clouds go by and the other was walking around looking busy. The guy said to "come in the morning because usually everyone comes in the morning." WHY WOULD I WANT TO COME AT A TIME WHERE EVERYONE ELSE IS HERE GETTING THEIR CARS DONE. and I guess 11am isnt "morning" anymore and they're more "busy" at 11. He also told us we'd have to wait for 2 hours. For those who don't know. SMOG TESTS DO NOT TAKE TWO HOURS. Bottom line if this is their idea of "busy" seems like they need to recheck their business strategy. Because it looks like if you can't handle the business of having two cars right in front of your shop right at that moment; you need to get some people here who can. You wasted our 5 minute drive down the street and earned yourself a bad review. I should just stick to the place I know down in Hayward closer to where I work. read more

Went to this place because I found a great groupon deal for $35 it did state on there to call 24HR's in advance to make an appointment but when I called the worker told me it was ok to come in today at anytime without an appointment. Got there and it literally look less then 10 minutes! Which for me was great because I needed to register my car and needed to run back to the dmv with proof of smog. I took my car here for a smog check. When I walked in the guy at a desk was chatting on the phone. He was the only person at the shop. It was Kevin C. because I saw his smog certificate on the wall while he was on the phone. When he finished he sat there like he was busy, 'no hi no how can I help you.' I said I want a smog check and he just pointed to a form and said in a condescending tone "name here signature here." Does this person know of any customer service and common sense greeting. Had I not bought a groupon I'd had take my business somewhere else. The price for a regular smog was VERY EXPENSIVE, 90 dollar for a 5+ min test is what you would pay. Honestly I will not come again. And I will NOT recommend this place to anyone. I question how a smog check station gets so many 5 Stars. I smell something fishy here and it is not smog. read more

Came here because of the 5 stars they got on Yelp. I was about to walk out the door until Jim greeted me. The smog was taking longer than I expected so I went out to see what was going on. He was having an 'issue' with my timing. He told me to take it to a mechanic to get it fixed. So the next day i took it to Firestone to get it checked out. They found no issue with the timing and it was at stock. Took it back to Jim for my free check and the 'issue' reappeared. Went to another smog check station and it passed with flying colors. This place is a scam. I purchased the Groupon deal worth $72 for $29. When I get there the owner tells me it's $89.99 to smog my vehicle. Therefore, I have to make up the difference between $89.99 and $72 that is another $17.99 plus $8 for the certificate. That makes it $29 for the Groupon deal plus $17.99 for the difference and another $8 for the certificate making the total $54.99 when I thought I'd only be paying $29 plus $8 for the certificate. Watch out. There are better deals out there. read more

After seeing the great reviews and calling them to make sure my car was eligible for the Groupon deal, I took my car in only to be told that the price didn't include an additional $50 fee for the certificate. Then when I told the guy, his response was that he just started working there and doesn't know. Afterwards, my car failed the test, he didn't bother explaining why and just said "just tell the mechanic." I asked if the retest would be free as the few times my car has failed (I have a 1978 Corvette), I have ALWAYS had a free retest. He said I would have to pay an additional $50 for the re-test. In total, my smog this year would have been $135 when my last spot charged me $67. Deceptive advertising and horrible customer service. When I took my car to get repaired, the technician mentioned that my car shouldn't even have failed for my idle speed as it was within the state allowance!! After hearing this, I refused to go back to this place even if it was a free retest as I do not trust them. I went to 76 Oakland Smog (in the Laurel off High Street 580 exit not too far away from this place) who charged me $58 total and only a $20 re-test fee but I didn't need it as I should have passed the first time! This place is a total RIP OFF!!! I called for a price before I went. I have 2005 Chrysler... The owner Richard said it would cost $50. I told him I have a Yelp discount for $20 therefore it should be $30. He said the discount was already included.
