I would give SandBar zero stars if that were an option. I don't think I've ever been so disgusted with an establishment before even eating their food... My family, girlfriend, and I were trying to have a nice dinner out and get some burgers at this restaurant's Tuesday burger night - apparently sandbar didn't get the memo... We walked in to no greeting from any of the staff, and found a table on our own. It was a solid 15-20 minutes before the waitress moseyed on over to us. No problem. We can keep ourselves entertained, it gave us time to figure out what we wanted, and make things most efficient noticing she was the only one on staff outside of the bar. 5 burgers, 2 fries, and a Coke for my girlfriend... Hardly a ball-busting order for an establishment claiming to run a "burger-night". Five minutes or so after we ordered a couple other groups came in, three or so groups. One of these groups included a father daughter group who sat right next to us. These two must've lit a fire under the bartender's ass, because this presently head-down unwelcoming character sprang into action. He practically sprinted over for their drink and food order, and their beers were on the table moments later. Now, Chippewa is a small town... A really small town, like really tiny and almost completely irrelevant... With that being said, stuff like this happens in a small town. Its a terrible business practice, but we excused it as being small town BS. In the mean time, all of the other groups who had arrived 10 minutes or so after we ordered had placed their orders as well... Well, the father and daughter group sitting next to us received their food about 10 minutes after placing their order. At this point, we had been sitting their for about 30-35 minutes. This really bothered me, and made my family feel as if our business wasn't valued. It gave us all a pit in our stomachs. Apparently, our money isn't worth the same as the money of these individuals... Completely inexcusable. I really hope your first-rate costumers don't mind floating your business when you've offended all your other costumers and lost their business... Ten minutes or so after, the father and daughter were looking fat and happy, and all of a sudden burgers started flying out of the kitchen, and not in our direction, your second-rate-customers who have been waiting for 45 minutes at this point, but instead at least eight other burgers went out to individuals and groups who came in 10-15 minutes after we had placed our order. This was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I instructed my family to get up and leave. I knew going-off on the server and bartender would without a doubt make me feel better, and get rid this terrible pit in my stomach caused by lack of food and disgust, but would ultimately fall on the def-ears of the dim-witted and poorly business educated. So for what it's worth, I'd like to tell you to kick-rocks, fly-a-kite, and eat-sand, because you won't be getting any money from me, my family, or my friends for your second-rate service or presumably ground dog food. Drinks came half full, but at least they showed up. Waited 45 minutes plus for a hamburger when it was not overly busy. Service was fine, but only one seemed to know how to waitress Avoid at all cost. Typical for this community. Would comment on food but still waiting for it to arrive. read more

Great bar and grill. We stopped for lunch while in the area and were not disappointed. We ordered walleye grilled sandwiches. In June I went to the SandBar and grill. Really cool environment, looks like a great place to hang out. I ordered a beer - it was cold. Looked around for food coming out of the kitchen to get ideas of what to order. I ended up going with pizza. I asked them to cook it just a little longer for a crisp. It's been over 35 min and I haven't received my food yet. I happened to look at my watch with a puzzled look, waiting to ask where my food was. A customer told me, they burnt your pizza and had to re do it. (Why would a customer have to tell me this and not the bartender?). They were playing frisbee with it. I waited for my pizza and closed out my tab. I received no discount or apology for the wait. I took the pizza home and left. Where was the "right thing to do" for customer service. I went tonight with my son and 3 friends. We sat outside on the deck and it was beautiful. My friend ordered a tackle box Bloody Mary and it was very good. I had the cheese curds and the yummy delicious burger, which was both yummy and delicious. The fries were not crisp, probably because they are fresh cut, not a big deal for me but some may not care for them. It was packed on a Tuesday, no open tables, bean bag and volleyball league going on as well. The food and drinks came out a little slow but that's to be expected when they were that busy. I am sad to say that you have lost our business due to a few issues...We were there with friends ordered bloody marys and two appetizers..Service was ok, but we certainly could not understand nor hear the server. Yes, busy, but .....Our cheese curds were very greasy, and the other appetizer...ok. When we got our bills, the pricing of our drinks did not make sense. When a drink is ordered...for what we all had, the pricing was the bloody mary and then the vodka...What is that? So, you are saying all drinks are priced separately? So lets say I order a brandy 7...one price for the brandy and the 7up is another? NO. Ordering a mixed drink is a drink...not pricing separately...And our server had some babbling explanation of what is was... lets say I ordered a glass of milk...you charge someone for the glass and then the milk? They are stuck up, at this BAR...and I like to go places, and eat, and have a few drinks..but I went for my first time, and right away you feel the resistance..it's sad..they spent a lot to fix it up, but the owners if they are, act like owners I guess, no customer service, and 2 people complained about getting a drinks when we were there, that are local's, I never went here much before and won't come back...and who still uses passwords for WIFI anymore? and the wait service seems to sit behind the bar, guess you have to come to them? not even busy... read more

The SandBar has the best fish in the area.....I guarantee it!! We have experienced many other restaurants and none as good as this. They also have great burgers and I recommend the hot beef sandwich. I personally have not had their breakfast but have been told by many it is very, very good. We have always had good service but they do pack out so you may have to wait a bit more some days/evenings but it is totally worth the wait. If you like to watch supports The Sanbar has several TVs to come watch with friends or alone. Nice atmosphere and they have 2 for one for all touch downs. Go Pack Go!! Go Badgers Go!! read more

This is our 2nd time coming here for breakfast and the 1st time wasn't great, but we thought we would give it another try. Our Bloody Mary's took 15 minutes to get, and we ordered 4 breakfast meals. After an hour of waiting for our food, the waitress came up to us and told us that she has been checking on our food and somehow the ticket was lost and the food was never made. Ok, I was irritated. She asked if we would still like them to make it and if we still wanted breakfast since it was now noon. I said yes we would like to have breakfast. She then left and came back to tell us the kitchen has put away breakfast so we can only get lunch now. So we paid for our drinks and left. Never offered to get us a free drink or take a drink off of our bill. Very disappointed in this place and will not go back again. read more

Got there, had to go up to bar after sitting for 15 minutes to get menus, watched the servers argue/have a cat fight with each other right in front of us. Listened to servers talk crap about the kitchen. Ordered our food and then sides were forgotten. We got there at 830 and our server didnt get around to bringing is our check until 11:15. Even with the amount of time it takes to eat and drink that was far too long. Then my mixed drinks were charged as premium alcohol even tho I asked for rail. When people go out to eat they shouldn't have to keep getting up and going to the bar just to get drink refills or the rest of their food order. Our bill ended up being close to 70 dollars. We could have gone to a nice restaurant with good service for that price. Wanted to discuss being over charged with out server but she literally never came back to our table so we left cash and left. ZERO stars ~ The remodel job is nice but other than that , the staff is totally rude! They make you feel like your bothering them and it takes forever to get service (even when you walk up to the bar yourself). We used to go there all the time before the new owners took over and have given them 3 tries now! Same crappy service every time. The food is very greasy too so make sure you ask for extra napkins!
