All the bartenders were so nice and welcoming-they actually remembered our names and chatted to us about the plans we had talked about the night before. Incredibly beautiful view of the ocean, birds, and dolphins. Excellent service. Delicious drinks. Live music had a Jamaican club feel and I was there for it! I loved the sand at my feet in part of the dining area. Overall, comfortable beach vibe. I ordered the blackened fish tacos, and I wasn't a huge fan of them. They seemed to lack flavor and were a bit cold. I did have some fries that were crispy and flavorful. One of my friends ordered the short rib tacos and I would have preferred an order of those. Did a lot of restaurant research, and enjoyed many different places while in the wonderful Clearwater Beach Florida. So that being said despite its great reviews here, it is still underrated. This view, and atmosphere at the Sandbar was unbeatable in the area, on top of that I think we ate our best meals here too. It was never too crowded and just perfect, crazy to me it wasn't the hardest spot to get into in Clearwater. read more

I was here yesterday with 3 friends! I enjoyed the island quesadillas and buffalo chicken wrap with chips (I was very hungry) my meals were excellent however my friends had the fish tacos and said they were fishy (the fish was mahi) and their coleslaw was a bit sour one of my friends did not finish their meal at all. I shared my quesadillas with the other friend and we all enjoyed them! The view was wonderful and our server was very friendly! My girlfriend left her purse here on accident and they retrieved it and held it there for her! Very honest! 5 stars for my meals, and their honesty! The view from this restaurant was awesome and the sunset was nice. The style of the restaurant was tiki but because it's attached to a gorgeous, pricier hotel it's a nicer feeling restaurant. The prices weren't bad especially for the location and view. The food was average; we ordered a grouper sandwich and a burger. The filet on the grouper sandwich was small. The burger was cooked well and was good. The drinks looked really good and they had a decent amount of beer selection. There's also a corn hole board to hangout and play. read more

Really nice place with a great view. Six of us met here for a friend's birthday during COVID. Everyone was wearing masks, even outside. The view is, of course, fantastic! We each either had the fish tacos or the calamari. Several people had the lobster bisque. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. Usually when you think 'beach bar', you think 'overpriced fried food', but the food was actually very good! My fish in my fish tacos was blackened. Parking is $10 if you get your ticket validated. To get to the Sandbar, you can either walk up the stairs from the parking lot or you can get there by walking through the lobby to the back of the hotel and then down the stairs. The service was awesome and everyone was very nice. I would definitely go back here again. read more

Located right off of Clearwater Bay, Sandbar is a cute outdoor restaurant that features not only food and drinks, but live music (on some nights). Not only does this place offer some spectacular views of the coast, but you may even get a chance to see some wildlife. (My aunt and me saw a pair of dolphins swimming during our lunch. Life moment made. ) While I did enjoy the ambiance and the service, the food was just okay. Also, it should be noted that you don't have to be a guest of Opals Resort to dine here. A little slice of vacay without the crowds! This is a hidden gem in the back of Opal Sands hotel with an amazing view and fresh, tasty bites and drinks. Seriously, it kind of feels like you're on a cruise! Definitely order the frozen piña colada because it's got a honey-ed rim dipped in toasted coconut (wow!). Also, if you're not feeling like dinner, they have a ton of cute couches and rocking chairs in which to chill. Getting There: It was a little hard to find but finally after going through the hotel, up to the lobby, outside and down a few flights (apparently there is a side entrance but not sure if that's only for hotel guests) we finally arrived. There are pretty much zero signs from what we could tell. The Food: I ordered a fried grouper sandwich which was big and on top of an amazing (brioche?) bun. My fiance loved the fish tacos but thought they could use some fresh cilantro. We both paid the upcharge (I hate when restaurants do this) for fries instead of chips. But, they WERE good fries! Overall, it's a little overpriced but you're also paying for the vibes and the view, which can't be beat. I have to mention: At first, this place kind of rubbed me the wrong way. We were told to "sit anywhere" and after finding the perfect seat with a view, we were told we had to move because "two people were not allowed to sit at a six top." That would've been nice to know earlier! Luckily, before our food arrived, the manager noticed another table open up and finally gave us the view we were hoping for! Thank you : ) Definitely won't be our last visit and we will be telling our friends and family to check out this out. read more

We checked into the Opal Sands Resort this afternoon and lo and behold my friend twisted her ankle getting off of the elevator. Well let me say the entire hotel has made accommodations for her. We had a lite meal at the Sandbar and were offered a very comfortable outdoor sofa seating area to watch the sunset while she kept her foot propped up. Alana the bartender was extremely attentive and gave us great menu suggestions. We had the roasted Brussels sprouts and the Rustica Pizza and both were delicious, not your typical tiki bar fried fare. As we had a few drinks and watched the sunset Alana brought her over a bag of ice and called for hotel services which offered my friend either a wheelchair or a scooter so she could get around the property pain free. As a business traveler that logs 100 plus nights a year in hotels, I am extremely impressed with the staff and level of service that has gone above and beyond to ensure that we had a safe and comfort evening as their guests. read more

I was in the Tampa area for work and before flying out, had a evening free with no plans. I quick beachside dinner search lead me to an adventure over to Clearwater and Sandbar. Sandbar is part of the Opal Resort, but if you enter via the beach you will find the public entrance. There is a parking lot adjacent that is pay by the hour, but reasonable. They have an array of beach themed drinks & food. I got the Skinny Blueberry Lemonade and Pork Nachos and would definitely recommend! You can sit at the large bar, at a table for a sit down feel, or there are rocking chairs and side tables next to the edge/permitted fence where you can enjoy drinks and food and enjoy the view. This is the place you WANT TO BE if you're cruising around Clearwater! Believe the hype. Dine right on the water and watch the waves crash against the rocks while you sip on a frozen beverage. During the weekday, quesadillas and nachos are 5 bucks and select beverages are discounted. You will love hanging out and likely spend the entire day out there just parlaying. The locals are super sweet and lots of tourists come out just for the views. The servers were excellent and extremely attentive. The nachos are massive and great for sharing. The food in general is going to be just your typical bar food. I was hoping for some fresh peel and eat shrimp (something I am always in search of when I am by an ocean) and unfortunately they weren't serving my craving at the time but that was okay.
