My volleyball partner and I showed up to play in a tornado relief fundraiser tournament last night. We came off the court right as our game was finishing, hi fiving, excited we won and were greeted by the owner/manager holding all of our personal belongings and bags. Her demeanor was aggressive and rude, and I was just confused as to why the woman was holding my personal things that she had no right to touch. She looked at us and said "WHO'S IS THIS?!" We said "Ours." She then proceeded to go off on us telling us we were not allowed to bring bags in. We both said "Oh, we had no idea." She aggressively snapped back "YES YOU DID. I'M SICK OF THIS SHIT." We had never met this woman in our life. We have played on these courts since they first opened, long before SandBar was there. We've played in tournaments here, but haven't played in a formal tournament in at least a year (just pickup play). To our knowledge, you could brings bags in. It's obvious she's not super familiar with sports and how they operate. But I've played them my entire life. I've never gone to a tournament without a bag. The bag she yanked off the ground and was holding had my Thera-gun, my ball, my keys and wallet, a sweatshirt, sandsocks, some grapes, a protein bar, and my water. His bag had a hand roller, a ball, a lacrosse ball, his keys and wallet, and a water. So you see our confusion and shock as to why this woman is yelling at is in front of the entire tournament that bags are not allowed. We brought in zero alcohol. Those cans she was dramatically holding in our faces were literally sparkling water. I had a single White Claw next to my bag that someone had given me when I showed up. One White Claw, and I truthfully had no idea I had done anything wrong. Our bags had zero alcohol in them. Ever since I started playing at those courts, people had always brought bags, snacks, drinks, no problem. But what I brought into the tournament, was what I listed above. Our bags had no alcohol in them. That's what was so confusing and upsetting to us. She continued lecturing us about liability and what if we got in a wreck on the way home. This all happened so fast, right as we're coming off from playing a volleyball game, in front of the entire tournament. Talk about ruining a vibe. We're here at this tournament to have fun, play volleyball, and raise money for a good cause. We're not there to get drunk or sneak things in. We could easily go somewhere else for that. Bottom line, her delivery was rude, disrespectful, and humiliating. She intended to humiliate us, but honestly, she ended up humiliating herself and showing everyone her own true colors. Carrying our bags onto the court and yelling at us in front of the entire tournament. If she had simply pulled us aside and said "Hey, we actually don't allow bags here anymore." We would've said "Oh, no worries! I had no clue." and we would've taken them to the car, and it would have been no problem. I'm not sure why she expected us to know that rule. Looking around last night, most players had bags with things they needed for the tournament. So I'm still confused as to why she singled us out. Regardless, she can't expect us to follow a rule we are not informed of. She's also never met us before, so snapping back with "YES YOU DID." when we told her we didn't know was just absurd. I'm a business owner myself, and I can't imagine in my wildest dreams ever speaking to a customer like that or berating them in front of an entire crowd. We have always supported the Sandbar, brought friends to rent courts and play, posted on social media promoting her business, ever since they first opened. I think it goes without saying, that we will no longer support a business who treats people this way. She never came over later in the night to apologize. She never calmly communicated what she meant to say or clearly clarified anything. It was left at that. Bottom line is, we showed up to a TORNADO RELIEF FUNDRAISING VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT that this woman is co-hosting. Our city and community has been through so much trauma over the last week. We show up to have carefree times with friends, and raise money to support our city by playing volleyball. And this was how we were greeted. Her confrontation and delivery was already horrendous, but given the circumstances that she was co-hosting a charity tournament and THIS is how she speaks to and greets her customers....I just have absolutely no words. Needless to she, she really threw a wrench in the night for us and we will no longer be supporting her business. She showed us exactly who she is :/ read more

The Sandbar has a great atmosphere and it's nice to drink outside. However their mixed drinks are crazy overpriced and while the drinks in the coconuts are fun and unique, it's a luck of the draw on the strength of the cocktail. After hearing about the Sand Bar on Instagram, my friends and I added it to our list of things we wanted to try when we went down to Nashville. It's a cool spot; the bar (along with a few other businesses on the board walk) are created out of shipping containers; it gives the place a unique look. From someone up North, there's not a whole lot of "beach" going on except for the volleyball (sand) court. There was a covered area that had one large wooden jenga game, a few other tables and the place was dog friendly. There was no light fare to be found; there was a spot across the deck that had some, but nothing that a caught our eye. This place is not what I would call "environmentally friendly". They use what look like plastic IV bags for their frozen drinks and straws (none of which are recyclable). The frozen pineapple/ kiwi drink was delicious since it was fully frozen, the second one wasn't as frozen so that didn't appeal to me as much. Our friends wanted to try the drinks served in real coconuts, which is a nice touch. However, unless you like coconut water, I don't recommend them! It's a hole drilled into the coconut; the water stays and they add rum. Having personally had coconut water, the concoction isn't very good. Did we have a good time? Sure! We enjoyed our drinks and played jenga, but then we headed out to find food elsewhere. read more

We stumbled across the street from our Marriott hotel to this best little hidden gem...a shipping container turned OASIS . Owner Emily and awesome team member, Kevin made us feel so at home. Their natural intuitive nature of where we are from along with their warm welcoming nature made us feel like Nashville family. Love Sandbar! My friend lives in the apartments nearby so we found it by chance, and stayed because of how unique it is. We happen to love and play volleyball so we love watching games on the courts. The bartenders are friendly and funny and will remember you when you come often. The drinks are so fun! Bless their hearts - they'll drill TONS of coconuts when a bachelorette party happens to wander in. Very patient staff haha. Pretty much everyone that comes is respectful of the place and I think it's a reflection of really liking and appreciating the staff and owner!
