Food was above average. But very slow and unfriendly waitresses. Salmon scramble felt like an unique treat I should try at Alaska. Fruit plate was very good portion. Except for the brown bruised spots on the banana. Service was what deterred us from recommending and coming back. Very slow and unfriendly. Two tables came after us were served coffee and orders taken before they got to us. We tried so hard to get our waitress attention to get coffee refill, both times! Very disappointed with the service.

I really recommend visiting Sandpiper Cafe if you are looking for helpful and friendly staff. The service was wonderful, quick, and attentive. The food hits the spot for an upscale classic diner with healthier and better quality takes on traditional eats. There are vegetarian and meat options for everyone hoping to dine. I enjoyed the change in specials so the menu never gets old!

Great breakfast spot! They've even won many awards for their food. The host was friendly and even shared stories about what won them some of the awards! Server was friendly and professional. The inside is cozy, sufficient seating, and noise level is average. Was excited there was a vegan French toast option and it was delicious! I do recommend!

    Great food and friendly service!

Service was super friendly and the food was great! The cafe is roomie and welcoming. A bit small so call ahead if you have a party more than 4. We had five but we were willing to split to enjoy the food!

Yelp steered our family to this kind-of-hidden spot while we were in Juneau before departing for a cruise. We were all very happy with our meals! And I really appreciated the easy accommodation for my dairy free and gluten free requests. The GF bread was really good and the omlette was so full of veggies and sausage despite it missing cheese to stay dairy free. We all thought the potatoes were some of the best we've had - cooked perfectly and lightly seasoned to really compliment the rest of the meal. This place may have been worthy of five stars but it was the service and friendliness that wasn't stellar. The host was welcoming and got us seated quickly, but it seemed as if they could have used more servers as our server wasn't quite on top of things like one would expect. It was approaching too long of a wait before she finally came and greeted us at the table. Later, our son had spilled some water and she was great getting us a towel but then forgot to bring us more napkins since we had used those up. We also had to ask for jelly for our toast. On top of all this, the staff in general just didn't seem happy and appeared stressed. It sort of sets not a great tone for what should be a relaxing breakfast out. We would certainly come again if we are ever visiting Juneau again. I just hope the staff situation can improve for their sake and for the customer's.

Food is still good, but as of January 2025 the portion sizes are greatly reduced. Still the best breakfast in Juneau - just smaller

The sandpiper is kinda unique in that it feels like a traditional "beach" cafe but set in Juneau, which I think is intentional given their logo is a cute sandpiper in Xtratuff boots! Between the three of us we tried the French toast special which was French bread stuffed with marscapone and blueberries, the two eggs and potato special and the veggie omelet. I had veggie omelet was a little on the brown side, and the squash seemed like a mistake. The side of fruit was biblical though, never seen anything quite like it. Wonderful sub for the potatoes. The side of salsa I got was obviously out of a bottle. The marscapone French toast was a little on the savory side to my tastes and would have benefitted from a blueberry in the cheese itself I think. Or perhaps more of a compote instead on top. Not bad but lacking something a little. In all the service was... okay, our server was nice but overwhelmed. The food wasn't the best but it was a cute little enjoyable experience and I'm willing to give it another try. 3.5 stars, but I'm willing to believe we just didn't get the best dishes on this occasion so 4 stars!

My go-to place when I'm in town for breakfast. Good portions and always comes out hot. Coffee isn't great (drip) but gets the job done. Staff is 90% friendly, prob just depends on their day, which is totally fair. Some regulars come in and are super friendly. Some dishes could use some more or more creative seasoning. Chef got over medium eggs 100% perfect, which a lot of places don't. Note: the grilled vegetables as a sub for potatoes is really sautéed veggies.

This omelet was so delicious and unique! I love how the cheese is kind of crispy on top. The potatoes were seasoned really well and cooked perfectly. Even the toast was delicious! The service was really good and the inside is super cute and clean.

We went to the Sandpiper twice during our visit to Juneau and it was excellent both times. It's one of the few vegetarian/vegan friendly places in Juneau as far as we could tell. The first time we went for breakfast--it was a Wednesday morning and we waited maybe ten minutes for a table because it was quite busy inside. It's conveniently located downtown and the crowd appeared to be both tourists and locals. Once we were seated the service was prompt. We ordered coffees, the blueberry pancakes, the vegan pecan French toast, and a fruit plate. The blueberry pancakes were among the best I've had--light and fluffy and maybe a hint of a lemon flavor. They have real maple syrup for an up charge which is the only way to go in my opinion. The fruit plate large and was made up of pineapple, blueberries, apple slices and orange slices. The next time we went was for lunch and we were a table of four. Again, it was busy and we seated after a short wait. I had the grilled veggie sandwich. It was served on a fresh focaccia bread and was delicious. A person in the group had a commitment that required us to need to leave in a hurry so we flagged a server that was not ours and she was super helpful. We were given to go boxes and they got us out of there promptly. We had two great experiences at the Sandpiper and I would definitely recommend it, whether you're looking for a vegan/vegetarian breakfast or lunch, or just regular diner fare.

Fast friendly service, delicious French toast and omelette. Super clean and relaxed interior set next to the mountains in Juneau. Highly recommend.

Specials menu, the cinnamon toast was spectacular

The line moved quick and we were able to get a seat inside. We went with the red and golden crab to see what the difference was besides the price! The red crab was definitely better in terms of taste. The price is ridiculous as the red crab was $90 for a leg and the golden crab was $65 per leg. Since we were here, we had to eat it though. We also got a cup of the crab bisque. It was good and what made it better was putting more crab into it! The bread was realistically just a Hawaiian roll with a little garlic butter. There wasn't enough garlic taste for our liking. We told our friend to make a little crab sandwich with her roll.

They have their system down to a science. Once we ordered we found seats right away. The food came out quickly considering how long it took to place the order. We both had the combination plates. They included crab bisque, crabcakes, a roll and crab legs. I chose the golden king crab, and my husband chose the snow crab. I like the king crab better than the snow crab. Although the serving size was not as large, the crab meat was more firm and flavorful. I grew up eating Dungeness crab in the San Francisco area so I have high expectations. I felt the golden king crab was as tasty. The crab bisque had a nice flavor. It was creamy and had chunks of crab in it. The crab cakes were ok. The sauce that accompanies them helped their flavor. Out bill with drinks was $165. Crab is a must have when in Alaska and Tracy's serves it quickly and efficiently.
