Looked decent from outside. Inside was pretty humid. Open tables. But for a family of five (two adults three kids) they couldn't accommodate. My issue was with the staff. I was told twice "We are brainstorming the table real quick" and then Radio silence. They went on conducting business and provided no update. When I tried to ask the hostess she ignored me and acted like she couldn't hear me (only 18 people indoor and it was quiet). Finally another waitress said "Oh, well we are waiting for a bigger table to be free, but we don't know how long they'll be because their party isn't here". Would've been useful at the start. Anyway, food might be good, but it's pretty obvious this place isn't necessarily professional in the service industry. But you'll get that from small places that don't know any better. read more

Brief Review: Food was meh, and don't expect to get your food for over an hour. Longer Review: If you have any appointment in the next three hours, you may want to find another place for breakfast. The restaurant doesn't take reservations, and you can expect to wait at least 30 minutes to be seated. Additionally, once seated and orders taken, it took over 75 minutes to receive our food. The waitstaff were quite abrupt in manners, but attentive to water and coffee refills, and efficient in their responsibilities. I wasn't impressed with the crab cake benedict - the eggs were overcooked with hard-cooked centers; while the sauce slightly understated, it had the right flavor balance for the crab. The crab, however, tasted like it was cheap canned crab or something that had been buried in the freezer for a couple of years. From the rest of the table, the bacon and french toast were decent but nothing worth noting and not worth the price. read more

This is the best breakfast I can remember in a very long time. Beautifully plated, so pretty I didn't want to eat it! The french toast was amazing! The bread was the perfect amount of crispy and soft. The mascarpone was soft and flavorful, and the powdered sugar added just the right amount of sweet. I also tried the Yukon gold potatoes with green onion, so delicious! Very simple recipe, but executed expertly. The staff was friendly, the cafe itself is clean and inviting. Prices are reasonable. I will absolutely be visiting the Sandpiper Cafe any time I visit Juneau. 100% definitely recommend. read more

I was craving breakfast and boy did this place hit the spot! I got the grindle combination with special french toast - I think it was cinnamon roasted apples and some kind of cheese can't remember but dang it was pretty good! That French toast bread was THICK delicious lol. My boyfriend got a lovely Halloween-themed hot chocolate with his brunch. Soooo yummy and cute! This be place was the bomb when it first opened. Original owners sold it about 5 years ago and it's gone downhill ever since. Food is good but way over priced. Place needs a deep clean and fresh paint. Staff is mediocre and always changing. Sadly, still probably the best place to get breakfast in Juneau- but the bar is low. read more

While in Juneau for vacation overnight, breakfast options in downtown are pretty limited. We went to Sandpiper Cafe our first day, and then back on our second. The food was wonderful, menu reasonably sized, and portions and service above & beyond. Both days we went around 10, 10:30 am, had a HUGE breakfast, and then were able to just do snacks in the afternoon until dinner. I had omelets both days, and both were big, full of toppings, and served with a hefty helping of tasty grilled potatoes. My mom had the corned beef hash one day and the quiche the next. Her hash was a huge portion, served with eggs and toast. The quiche was a 4-5" individual quiche served with potatoes and a big serving of mixed fruit (melon, banana, apples, berries). Overall, great place for a big, tasty breakfast. Recommended for anyone visiting Juneau. read more

My corn beef hash was perfectly crispy, lean and not greasy. There was no room for improvement. My rye toast was buttered - why ? Place the butter on the side or have server ask - would you like your toast buttered? Its ridiculous, why not put ketchup on my eggs, salt my cantaloupe or cream and sugar my coffee without my request. Brad's chicken fried steak was not fresh, breading was not crisp; this was obviously thawed and heated. The gravy was good. The potatoes were delicious and the bread is very fresh. They buttered his toast without asking. The service was affected mostly because they are understaffed. Our waitress, dark hair, did not come through with a side of fresh fruit for Brad's order. I wanted a side of French Toast and that could not be done. Guests that were seated after us were served food and finished their meal, left the restaurant before we had our order taken. Our waitress apologized and gave us a 10% discount. I rather have better service and will check out other restaurants first before returning. read more

Went for the vegan Pecan French toast.... Which came with regular dairy butter on the side. Asked the waiter "is the butter vegan"? He said "I don't know what vegan is, I rely on the clients to tell me" so sent him to the chef to ask if the butter was vegan. Loudly went to the food service area and he yelled "Is the butter vegan?" To which the kitchen replies "Duh. Isn't all butter vegan?" One of us has a dairy allergy and despite not eating the butter, still wound up with a huge bloated stomach. Also they didn't know if their Tofu Scramble was vegan. Vegans beware. read more

Heard raves about this place from many locals in Juneau so had to check it out. Went a little late for breakfast around 10am but only had a 5 minute wait. Host and servers were real nice and friendly. Ordered the crab benedict, the corned beef hash and a denver omelet. Everything was very good and the prices reasonable by Juneau standards. The omelet was cooked perfectly, the ham and cheese nice and tasty. Hash browns crispy. Tip: instead of toast we had biscuits, which are made here. They were real good. Nothing to complain about here - we'll probably come back tomorrow. read more
