Drove an hour one way to Sands Kia because it was supposed to be the best Kia dealership in the valley. What a disappointment! Sales manager was the main problem here. Was looking to buy a Sportage Hybrid (which is nearly impossible to find currently) and saw it on the Sands Kia website that one was coming in. However, just because it's challenging to find doesn't mean I'm willing to pay an extra $5k - $8k for it. Not to mention all the dealer add-ons that cost extra that you really don't need either. My salesman was Tyrel, who, in fairness, was friendly and seemed to be doing his best until he made a HUGE blunder (more on that later). I told him we either wanted to buy the one on his lot or build one and wait for it if he can do it at MSRP and without the dealer adds. He was reluctant on negotiating the dealer adds but said MSRP shouldn't be a problem if we build and we could get it in 60 days. He relayed our interest and scenario to his manager, Chris, and then told us that "your presence in the dealership is power" and if we really want to cut the MSRP deal, we'd have to drive the hour it takes for us to get to Surprise. He also promise we'd leave happy. When we got there, Tyrel was friendly and appeared to be doing his best, but his manger Chris ultimately said no deal. We were disappointed to find out that Chris knew the whole time he wasn't going to give us the deal we wanted and still had his salesman tell us to drive all the way out. What a waste of time and gas! Shame on you, Chris! Remember when I talked about Tyrel's big blunder earlier? I texted Tyrel when I got home about my disappointment in driving all the way out there for nothing and asked if we could still look at building the MSRP car for 60 days. He said no because our deal "wouldn't qualify for priority". As a sales person, telling your potential customer they're not a priority is a BIG no-no. Not to mention going back on what he said previously. Needless to say, we're not building with Chris and Tyrel. We've found the same car somewhere else for the deal we're looking for and are happy with it. And you, the reader, probably don't need to give your business to managers that will undercut their sales staff in pursuit of dollar signs and salespeople who tell you that you're no longer a priority for trying to negotiate a deal that works for you and your family. DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY TYREL POTTER! THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS! In october 2023 I was on the market for a new Kia Forte. After a bunch of calls and emails one of the Sands Kia salesmen (Tyrel Potter) offered me on the phone Kia Forte GT-Line for a price of 23K out-the-door. Once I arrived at the dealership he already prepared all the documentation, but the price was different: 25K out-the-door. I told him that I'm not going to buy the car, to which he offered me a free lifetime oil change package to compensate the price difference. I agreed. Tyrel told me that the manager who is responsible for this package's documentation already left (because it was pretty late in the evening), but he reassured me that he will take care of it tomorrow and even quickly showed me some sort of a paperwork with his signature as a proof of this package's existence. Fast forward a month, I still didn't receive any physical proof of this "lifetime oil change package". After asking multiple times on the phone and in the email to send me physical copies of documentation, I always get a different excuse (e.g. manager is not here today, but we will do it tomorrow or next week). Fast forward another couple of months, I arrived at the Sands Kia dealership for a first service and asked Tyrel Potter in person to clarify what's going on with my "lifetime oil change package" and he LIED directly to my face (I have him on record) that everything's fine and it's some sort of a mistake and he will take care of it next week. After I left the dealership Tyrel Potter stopped replying to my emails, texts and calls, so I decided to speak with his manager Christofer Robinson. Turns out this "lifetime oil change package" doesn't even exist, so essentialy Tyrel Potter TRICKED me into buying a car with a made-up package and KEPT LYING about it for a couple of months. DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE! P.S. Tyrel I hope you sleep well every night knowing that you scam people and I sincerely hope that your children will be treated the same way I was treated by you. Wow: Have two posts, one for the salesman, one for service department. Salesman Shawn who was great was real quick to make the sale. My Wife noticed the peeling of tint on all windows except front window and sunroof. We were told to take the car and bring it back a few days later for repairs. We did. I was called and told the car was ready a few days later only to notice the back heater element was torn and damaged when peeling the tint off. The service manager said this was normal. No I said it needs to be replaced. Almost 25 days they kept my new car. They replaced the back window but it looked different. The outer tint wasn't right. Left it for a week again. I had to call them , they said the tint had settled. Ha ! It took 5 days to find this out and I had to call them. Well in the last 20 years my Wife and I have bought 7 new Kia's. i truly recommend Salesman Shawn for sales , but my car will never see the service dept. Never ! read more

We drove over an hour to visit this dealership based off the internet quote we received on a Forte they JUST had delivered. When we arrived the sales man was super nice, but the problems started when we went in to negotiate. They INSISTED on charging a $1500 extra for a mandatory "Desert protection package" and $300 for VIN etching that had not even been installed yet. The desert protection package consists of nothing but window tinting, a paint pen, and nitrogen in the tires. This is all snake oil (as is the VIN etching.) I insisted that they removed the package and they refused, even though they literally had just taken the car off the truck from the manufacturer. They have no documentation for the package, nothing advertised on their website, it's all a joke. Over the course of negotiating with them the salesman and manager would keep coming back with new sales sheets that all had different figures. We would negotiate the price, so they would print a new sheet but they would have altered some of the discount in another area. When I called them out they insisted "oh it's a typo" and leave to fix it, then come back with another "typo" somewhere else in the figures. So I decided to see if I could recoupe some savings with my trade in and their lowball over was so far off the mark it was ridiculous. They want to charge you $1500 to "recondition" the car (without even seeing the vehicle), but they deduct that off the KBB trade in price that ALREADY takes reconditioning costs in to account. They are SNAKES at this dealership. They couldn't even come close to the figure their website GUARENTEED me (It even sent me a PDF Certificate to lock in the pricing.) Be careful! They like to add fees when they find out your putting cash down!!! I was told the SUV was 20K, than when I arrived it was marked down to $19,500. I initially had no down payment and with no down payment the payment was $427. However!!! I found out that buying an auto to take care of a disabled family member counts as a hardship and I can touch 401K money. I than asked what the payment would be with $6K down and that's when they did some cruel "adding of FEES". With 6K down, which is about 27% the amount of sale it ONLY went down $75 dollars, so I asked. Why did the payment only go down from $427 to $358? With putting over 1/4 down the payment should have ATLEAST dropped below $300. Well WHEN YOU TELL THEM YOU HAVE MONEY, THEY ADD FEES! They added a cleaning fee of $2895 and called it a RECON FEE, something called a premium fee of $800 and then there was another fee added of a couple hundred dollars, after that it was your normal Tax, Title, plates, vehicle cost. So they took my $6K and created $4K in fees that left me with only $2K left. PRETTY CRAPPY TO DO TO SOMEONE THAT JUST FOUND OUT THEY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF A DISABLED FAMILY MEMBER AND NEEDED A VEHICLE FOR TRANSPORTATION OF HER AND EQUIPMENT. I went to Sands Kia and will not go to a Sands dealer again. We were not able to reach an agreement on a vehicle which is fine and will happen. The reason why I will recommend everyone I know not to go here is the way they treated us. After we left I was sent a text saying they will work with me on the price. When we came back I wasn't expecting to get exactly what I was asking previously but I was expecting them to work with me. They had us sitting around for 40 minutes and came back with the same exact offer previously. They did this knowing my wife was 8 months pregnant and uncomfortable. This shows no respect for there customers. Today the salesman sent me a text trying to get me to come back. I replied telling him to remove me from his list as I would not be returning. He then responded with an extremely rude text back. Just a piece of advice for management here. It is not a great business practice to demand $5000 over MSRP. You might get it because some won't be very well informed, but eventually they will talk to a friend that went to a different dealer and realize you ripped them off. I'm thoroughly disappointed with my experience at Sands Kia. Our initial car shopping experience was great. Derek took great care of us and we walked away with a 2017 Kia Sportage. Exactly one month to the day of sale we encountered our first problem. As my wife was leaving work, her newly purchased car would not start. Just the empty clicks of a dead battery. After waiting 3 hours for a service call to come, the battery was replaced. Today was the 1 month anniversary of our purchase and it cost us an additional $234. Now it's a little infuriating that we had a dead battery one month into owning the car. We contacted the manager at Sands Kia and my wife received a call from Derek. He apologized for the issue and said they would reimburse us for the cost of the battery. I would have liked more information regarding why they sold us a car with a dead battery but alas. Now we have waited over 3 weeks and have not received a reimbursement. I've followed up again with the manager and it appears I have been ghosted. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE. Bought a new 2021 KIA K5 in September of 2020. Was fine for 15,000 miles then started having all sorts of electrical problems. Have since brought the car in 6 times for the same issues. THEIR SERVICE TEAM DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THEIR VEHICLES. I asked them to please buy the car back from me, but when I came in to do so, they gave me the run around and would only give me what it's worth if I bought another KIA. I filed a complaint and request for buyback via KIA consumer affairs. After sending in my documentation over a month an a half ago I haven't gotten close to resolution. It has been a month since I heard from KIA consumer affairs. In that time span, I had to bring the car back three times, twice for the same issues and another time because they broke my windshield while in service. They can't tell me what's wrong and keep replacing parts hoping it will solve the problem. Please please do yourself a favor and save the burden and buy a different make. KIA is junk. I understand it's Covid but I do not get it to receive poor services from KIA service. I had a discussion with Director of services regarding poor services I received recently. I honestly tried to help him to check his mechanics how do they do. Instead he started to be so defensive accusing me he did so many free services.Yes he did once in awhile but probably he forgot that next time he grossly overcharged me or others members of my family, so basically he never gave me free of charge anything. I was surprised to see his face changed in red color because he became very angry. I was nice with him all the time by paying for his services. I found two different cars on their website that I was interested in, called the day before my visit, yes, no problem, come on in, so...came in next afternoon, sales person , greeted me, I gave him all pertinent info. and in clear terms these are the two cars I am interested in, the salesman checked the computer, said I'll be right back, he walked over to the managers desk, then walked away for approx. 10-15 minutes, right away I'm feeling left out of the conversation and not being taken seriously, so.. The salesman re-appears, We sold these cars, right away he's mentioning other models that we can make a deal on today, so I lean into this guy , telling him I came in because I was told no problem, your choice are in stock, So the guy walks away again, comes back saying maybe they are not sold, maybe loaned out, and right away starts the sales pitch again for other cars here now that we can make a deal on, I had to walk away. Took my wife's Soul in to have the alignment checked after she drove over a curb. Alignment cost $89. Nick the service man was very nice and informed me the the car alignment was perfect and no damage was done. The best news was, there was no charge for the alignment because it didn't need one. I think most companies would have charged me for the service. They also washed and vacuumed the car too. Oh ya, they noticed the inside door handles were peeling and they would replace them under a recall order. (No charge) This company was very upfront with what was taking place. They were very efficient in the work. I highly recommend them to any KIA owners that need services. Even the oil changes are under $30 try to beat that.. read more

Im shopping for a used car. and sands kia has been the absolute worst experience i've had. I made a reasonable offer on a used GT2, to be told it's aggressive. Sales rep provided a counter offer snuck in an extra 2-3k on the out the door price and the following day the dealership changed it's listing price off the vehicle to pretty darn close to my initial offer. Sales rep refused to change his initial offer to me even though the dealership changed the base price of the vehicle. You certainly lost my business Scott. Edit / Update: Sands kia rep contacted me offering me the price I was initially asking for the car but, their opportunity was missed and i went with a different dealer. That in itself is fine. Makes sense to try and reach back out to a lead. However, It is extremely unprofessional to call a customer and interrogate them regarding a google review based off of their experience. I felt my experience was poor and receiving the phone call regarding this review told me i did the right thing by not dealing with this company. I've worked in sales, I've worked in customer service, i've worked in marketing. I've dealt with the other end of this review but never would i have the audacity to call a potential client and complain to them about their own experience. Instead of trying to make anything right. Scott continued to bring up this review and defend himself which is fair but, if a prospect doesn't feel secure in a dealing and leaves a review like this it's more professional to carry on then to call them. Here is my final email to them after wasting half a week trying to get parts... ----------------- Thanks for the follow up Harry (wholesale parts), Horne Kia out in Gilbert uses the EXACT system as yours, charged about $14 less for one of the parts, did NOT charge me a fee to pick up in store like you guys do, and promised to get the part sooner. All in all about $40 in saving. But most importantly got my order through and parts are on the way. www.kia.parts Also, no problem getting my Discover card through with them. But I'd guess they'd take my card over the phone if they had to rather than wasting time back and forth trying to force me to work through their system. I had actually forgotten that I had purchased a used vehicle at this dealership several years ago. I ended up purchasing a new vehicle from Sands Kia and went I came to write a positive review I found my previous review when I purchased a used car for my son in the military. This was a much better experience... After dealing with another dealer who wanted to rob me on my trade I came to Sands Kia and was treated like they valued my business. They asked a fair price for their vehicle and gave me a fair price for my trade. Scotty is outstanding to work with and the sales manager Steve is the best I've worked with. The finance office was the only complaint I had and I'm going to speak to someone about that. Much better dealership to work with than the next two closest Kia dealerships. Buyer beware! I called first to verify a couple cars were in stock I viewed on Autotrader. I didn't think to verify the price. I showed up and both vehicles were priced 20% higher than Autotrader. I figured I'm here so let's do the dance. Tyrel assisted and was great to start off with but I was not ready to commit and the attitude changed. The short version is that I met my daughter at Sands Kia last summer with her 4 your children including a brand new baby. I was hoping to help them make a deal for a new Kia van lease, so she and her children would be safe and have great A/C. Their old van was on it's last leg and the A/C was only up front and not working well. Anyway, the salesman promised things they could do with the lease in just one year from that date which sounded incorrect and very suspicious to me so I asked for clarification 3 times which he said each time that it could be done. 1 year later, when asked to do what he said, it was completely false and misleading. The Manager said "sorry that the salesman told you that" and would not help except to offer my daughter a new van with a new lease (that would cost more as we were quoted hundreds more)... not much of a solution. On top of this, there was a problem starting the van just a few months after it was leased. The service department said the internal wiring harness had been burnt and would need to be replaced, etc. When my daughter asked to be shown the damage, they said they could not. I told her to tell them no thanks and I set her up to go straight over to Car Life. At Car Life, they said everything was fine, just needed a new battery which they replaced and my daughter has never had a problem since. I would never suggest going to any Sands dealerships based on our experience and many dozens and dozens of other negative posts on Nextdoor regarding elder abuse and much more from Sands. I have only written good review for businesses when asked, this is my first negative one and unfortunately it's necessary to protect other consumers. read more

Had a horrible experience at sands Kia. Like one of the worst I have ever had. They got me into a 2014 Kia optima with 107k miles on it. I told them I could do no money down. They said not a problem. 2 weeks later I get a call saying I need to put 1k down and resign my contract....ya not gonna happen. One of the sales managers told me I need to be better with my credit And actually take care of my credit cards....umm thats no one's business. That was disrespectful. They then told me I had 5 people using my social security number. Which was a lie I found out doing my research. They ran my credit report 21 times. Like hello it's not going to change. "Payment Enclosed" is a joke- there is no payment enclosed at all, in fact on your supposed payment it actually states NOT A CHECK and NON-NEGOTIABLE, is that a payment? Of course not, they are just trying to trick people into opening their mail and they should be ashamed of themselves! Also they put "Expiration Notice - Action Required" or "The official office of records of declaration & Disbursement division..." Are you kidding me? Do they really have such an office? Again, of course not, they are just running a scam. They should be trying to build trust with their potential customers, not trying to trick them and take advantage of them. It also appears all of the other "Sands" dealerships are running some variation of this scam as well. It is tactics like these, by dealers like them, that give the industry such a poor reputation. Don't fall for this scam!! My wife received this so called voucher in her Facebook messenger as a message. It states 0 down bad credit no credit repos ok etc... Me and my wife had an appointment with Kyle the GM at 5:45 this evening 5/5/23. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice salesman Big Fax he sat us down and went through the pre approval process. We disclosed our income which is very high and also disclosed our credit was not the greatest but we are repairing it currently. After going over the pre owned vehicles that my wife liked on the website Big Fax said yes we would be able to view and drive the vehicles to see which one we liked the most. We got very excited and we were encouraged that we would be able to have a choice of vehicles to purchase. Big Fax took our credit application and went to the sales manager desk and we waited for his return, remember we were very excited. He returned and started with "unfortunately" we would need a co-signer and a large down payment which we explained to him the Voucher said 0 -1$ down bad credit repo ok late payments are ok etc. My wife and I both felt mislead and deceived by this and asked why we were needing a co-signer all of the sudden. Big Fax replied that with our credit scores and late payments and repos found, we would need a co-signer. We then we're trying to think of family and others that would be willing to help and mentioned our daughter who was willing to co-sign but Big Fax without even running her credit answered after my wife asked what score does our daughter or co-signer need to have? He replied " high 600s into the 700s" WHAT!!!!! Oh and we also need a large down payment on top of the co-signer. We felt completely lied to and treated with a lack of dignity and willingness to help after that. No where did they look or take income into consideration or the fact that my wife and I have multiple paid off car loans. We went in for a used Sorento that we saw online. They advised that it wasn't at the dealership and tried to steer us towards a new one. We told them that we weren't looking for a new Sorento but they continued to push a new on us. We again told them that we were not looking for a new one and continued to ask about the used one. They seemed to ignore the inquiry and yet again tried to talk up the new one. After approx 1 1/2 hrs, we finally got up and walked out. The salesperson tried one last time to sell us on the new Sorento but I told them that I didn't want it and drove off. We ended up getting a great deal at another dealership. I contacted Sands Kia about a used car they advertised. I spoke with a salesman and emailed multiple times inquiring about specifics of the car, being assured that they will make sure I'm happy. Now keep in mind this place is way off the beaten path. It's so far out of town the mob would consider it an inconvenient location to hide a body...45 minutes from my hose each way. I made sure they knew that fact. After making the journey I arrive to find them wondering what happened to the car I was interested in. We walked the lot and the car was not present. Later they claimed the car was sold by the Chevy dealership next door 4 hours earlier. Keep in mind my last 2 emails to and from them were within this 4 hour window and there was no mention of the car being sold! This didn't stop them from trying to sell me 5 other vehicles on the lot. I finally told them to stop. I was interested in a specific vehicle, and that was clear from the beginning. After informing them I'm leaving there was no apology for wasting 2 hours plus of my weekend. If they had, this would be water under the bridge. Now this is at best extremely poor customer service given my long journey and at worst it's your classic bait and switch. I'm usually weary of car dealers and salespeople. They are always so pushy and aggressive and then blow up your phone every hour on the hour. But not Diana! Diana was amazing from start to finish. She was not high pressure at all, especially when I hesitated at first. She just gave me her business card and told me to let her know when I was ready. I was still shopping around, so I wasn't ready. But this actually won me over because she didn't push me into the sale, but was like a friend to me instead. She was patient and kind and polite and made sure I got everything I wanted at a great price. I highly recommend her! read more

Pleasantly surprised... There was a time when I wouldn't even think about owning a Kia, but of late (at least on paper), they're looking pretty good. So, we decided to check it out. The car (a Sorrento) was surprisingly well-built and feature-packed, and the price was very, very compelling. However, for our purposes, the Sorento didn't quite measure up to the Highlander we ended up buying. Still, it was great experience at the dealership. Our salesperson (Diana) was helpful and friendly. There wasn't any hint of the traditional car dealer pressure. Getting a test drive was a snap. Then, we went inside to talk, and she brought over her Sales Manager - uh oh. Here it comes... Well, actually, Jason turned out to be just like Diana. Helpful, friendly, and while clearly trying to sell a car, not pushy or aggressive. It was a great experience and if the cars were just a bit closer, we might have ended buying here. We came in on a Pre approved deal to buy a vehicle cash. Still till over 90 minutes. We were kept sitting alone at the sales person's desk for most of that while she ate dinner (pizza) with the finance manager. When I asked how much longer it would be as I had things to do yet tonight (fly out in the am) I was told that they were working on it (through a mouth of pizza). Turned what had been a + experience into a negative one. Won't be back. read more
