Service was immediate and so friendly. The restaurant quickly filled with tourists and locals in the early morning. I loved that everyone coming in the door was greeted like family. I judge restaurants by their chicken friend steak. This was one of the better ones I've had in a long time. The gravy wasn't the best I've had, but still good. The chicken friend steak, though, yummy! Crispy, juicy, great flavors. Grits are grits, but the eggs were well-cooked, and they added cheese as ordered. I am a huge sourdough fan, and this bread did not disappoint. Just the right amount of tang. Bring your cholesterol meds because everything was served with a lot of butter! The restaurant motif is warm Alaskan log cabin. Stuffed animal heads and antlers hang on the walls. Everything is wooden and warm. Just what you would expect in an Alaskan diner. We came back on a subsequent day when we were back in Anchorage, and I know next time I'm in town I'll be back... maybe for lunch.

I was a bit upset, but I just ordered a short stack of pancakes. (W/Strawberries and whip.) I asked for grape juice, and nope. None. Everyone else ordered and we got our orders fairly quick. The pancakes were BIG!!! The whip was good, but it was just thawed frozen strawberries. Yuck. My pancakes weren't very good. Was barely able to finish one. Overall an 8/10 experience. I was honestly really excited going in because I love an old-school diner moment... but this one was a bit of a miss for me. My food was fine, nothing terrible, just not something I'd go out of my way to come back for. The biggest letdown though was the biscuit and gravy. The gravy was very bland and had a strong uncooked flour taste, to the point where it just didn't feel worth continuing to eat after a couple bites, which was disappointing. For even less you could get an enormous breakfast with toast, pancakes and 2 eggs, 2 meats.and a coffee. And it was good. And the variety was just wow... And Leroys just.... isn't they do sandwiches and breakfast. And its not cheap. You can't get a hot, affordable dinner here...they have a very limited list of hot dinners.. I got a rueben and salad. It was fine. Had I not taken a picture of it I wouldn't even have remembered what I got. It was not memorable. My husband bot breakfast. I thought his over easy eggs looked a bit overcooked. But he said his pancakes were the best he had in a very long time. My biggest issue is cleanliness. The places is a massive and I mean MASSIVE HOSEDOWN. Same reason I won't eat at Kava's anymore. Dust and grease are not a good combo. Mixed bag here i think. The locals support it because it's a real mom and pops where they congregate. But it does leave a lot to be desired. It definitely is a diner, and it definitely had a vibe that this was a local spot. We got our Famous Halibut Sandwich, and it didn't disappoint. It was delicious, the batter was light and crispy, the halibut was fresh and flaky, and all served in between some delectable sweet buns. They also served an assortment of drinks.
