The pork meat tastes the same as the one used in the sandwich, it had a very porky taste I can't define. The Banh Mi Sandwhich is mid. Thin pate spreading. I give Sandy Chili 3.5 stars. The menu was hit or miss. This is adjacent to the gas station and has a hot case for people who want to just come in for a quick grab n go. Service was fine, no complaints. I ordered the chicken with sticky, egg rolls and Mok Pa. The Chicken was decent and the rice was perfect- it wasn't mushy or too soft but not too hard. Mok pa had NO flavor at all. I was surprised because it looked to be seasoned and prepared well. Egg rolls were overall tasty and I liked that they were not fried in old oil and were not too greasy. Got to meet Joe who was super friendly and accomodating and service was awesome. We ordered lunch from here nice clean cute little spot with a few tables so you can eat the food right off the grill/wok. Super excited to try the Laos sandwich. Curious how much different it tastes to the Vietnamese sandwich. Don't like the bread they used, and it can be a little more toasted. Very thiiiiiin paste of patte, can barely see it. Don't know what the white dressing they used in the sandwich, wish I can sub it for visible patte. Sticky Rice & Chicken- Just as good as Sweet Mango's sticky rice & chicken Lao cucumber salad- It was so fresh and delicious, but i had to send it back due to the juice spilling everywhere. They have sturdy to go bowls with a lid now, guys. Sausage- 1st time wasn't a fan, 2nd time, it was so delicious Kao poon- basically a Lao coconut curry, noodles soup with vermicelli rice noodles - it was good and they accommodated my bff and I when we requested fish sauce and limes. Papaya Salad- Lao style- So crunchy, so savory and sweet & good, my bff said 30 peppers, but I negotiated her down to 20 and 20 was perfect for us and no i did not throw up. They also serve Boba milkshakes, etc., and assortment of desserts. Their eggrolls are 10 out of 10. Sandys's chili has really really good eggrolls the eggrolls are four for $5 really worth it. The dipping sauce they give you is not watery or runny thin it's the right consistency actually very great very authentic. The chicken is seasoned perfectly. They give you a lot of rice. And the pepper paste is great. Very fast service they are inside a gas station so it's not a quiet place it has seating for you to dine in as well, their grab and go menu is has a good selection of typical selections the chicken sandwich had the crispy bread, veggie on the bread where fresh and great! Very nice staff, a little bit of language barrier but that's ok. I love their pork belly and nam khao. Their nam khao is a decent size for the pricing. I just wish it made to order so that it stays crispy because it is prepackaged, the containers builds up moisture and softens up the nam khao but can't complain for the price and portion and still taste good. Thum pho was really good. Ordered it with a medium spice level and it wasn't spicy at all, we should have ordered it spicy. It had a good balance of the pungent fermented fish sauce you want in a Lao style papaya salad. Pho Noodles were cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend. Also got the egg rolls, those were okay. I was really excited to try this place because I had tried Sandy's sausage at RN supermarket and it was delicious. We went into the shop which is connected to the gas station store. Their menu was quite extensive for a pick n go kind of store. We ordered sausage and sticky rice, chicken and sticky rice, Lao papaya, and Lao sandwich. My favorite dish was the chicken it had a slightly sweet flavor to it which I enjoyed. Second fav dish was the sausage. I didn't like the papaya at all; it was missing something although I couldn't pinpoint what. The Lao sandwich was alright. Decided to visit by chance on a Saturday afternoon. The place was slightly busy, but the person taking orders was quick, friendly, and efficient. I ordered the Vietnam-style Bahn Mi, chicken with sticky rice, and a Thai tea smoothie. The bahn mi was great. A very solid and traditional style bahn mi. I really liked the bread they used, too. It was perfect. The chicken and sticky rice was a little plain tasting. I expected more flavor on the chicken, but regardless, it was still nice and juicy. The chicken I got came with two legs and a thigh piece. Plenty for one person. The Thai tea smoothie was good but had a minty aftertaste to it which confused me a little since I wasn't used to mint in Thai teas. It wasn't bad at all, just different than expected. My sister was there earlier and her bowl of payaya noodles salad had everything in it, shrimp and long green along with much more. I ordered mild papaya salad, regular banh mi sandwich and chicken with sticky rice. The papaya salad was the best I've had so far in Fresno! I like that there were thin and thick slices of papaya it gave it great texture, flavor was really good I didn't have to add anything to it and it wasn't too spicy. Heard about this place so decided to stop by to support small business. Walked in and it was clean with a couple table seatings and seatings along the wall. Decided to order papaya salad, red curry kaoboon, Thai tea and a combo Vietnamese sandwich. Starting off with the papaya...papaya could have been better. It lacks flavor from the sauce. Kinda disappointed. Now onto to the kaoboon, originally I had thought that they would serve you with a bowl so you can eat inside the restaurant since they had seating but instead, they give you a separate bowel for the broth and a plastic bad full of noodles and the condiments. After putting the noodles and condiments inside the bowel of red curry broth, it made the curry cold which I dislike cause I like to eat my kaoboon hot. Now, onto the sandwich. The sandwich was good. (4/5) Thum kapoon: I love thum kapoon, not every does it. But whenever they do it I always order it. Her thum is tasty. Could use a littleeeee more salt but nothing you can't fix.(4/5) Baked eggs: delicious. Tastes like home (5/5) Banh mi: I got both Vietnamese style and Lao style. Both so good. I had pre-ordered two large trays for a Thanksgiving party and paid half the amount a week in advance. Sandy provided the payment information, confirmed receipt, and acknowledged my order. On the day of the event, after I sent the remaining 50%, she called to say she didn't realize the order was for that day. By then it was already 4 PM. She told me it would take another hour and a half to make one of my dishes. I asked for a refund since the food wasn't ready, but she asked me to please give her an hour so I agreed. The coconut drink was refreshing as usual and complimented the meal very well. The papaya salad had a nice crunch, flavorful, and delicious. I asked for a side of peanuts for more taste and texture. The kapoon had good flavors, but as soon as you added the cold noodles and nicely shredded toppings, the liquid also became lukewarm and wasn't as tasty. They were kind enough to "shred" the chicken for me. Otherwise, as in some pictures I've come across, it's whole, like a drumstick. I love that they have green Thai tea, super delicious! They kao piak broth is so bomb, I would say one of the best broths in town. Tastes authentic. Kinda skimpy on the noodles but the broth makes up for it. I wasn't a fan of the banh mi. Price point low key kind of pricey haha. They also offer party platters/ catering any time, you would just call in advance. Lady who helped us was friendly. Second time here and I tried the LAO style sandwiches. Sandwich was $7.99 and a huge portion. Fair warning however, that thang was SPICY! Lao people don't play when it comes to spice !
