A local breakfast/brunch spot in my hometown of Clovis, CA. Always a high school reunion when I go here, but I don't mind. Sandy's is an institution in Clovis, and makes me feel at home. Whenever my family or friends want to go out for breakfast, Sandy's is always my first choice - I'll pass on Denny's and IHOP any day. It can get pretty busy, but the longest I've had to wait for a table was 15 minutes on a weekend morning. There's outdoor seating, perfect for a summer/spring morning or day - feel free to bring your furry friends! Inside, there's booths and regular dining tables. Food is inexpensive, on average under $10 per person. An extensive menu, with all items served from open to close. My long-time favorite has been the Pancho Villa Enchiladas - very filling, big portion size, flavorful. Another classic option is the Chicken Fried Steak with Biscuits & Gravy - so yummy! I came here on a camping trip up in Clovis. My friend said this place is a classic for brunch so we went. Everything was delicious. The seating was a bit limited and we were squished in a booth in the back. The service was slow but I was in good company. My Country club sandwich was only $10.75 it is was so much food that it split it with a Friend and still left completely full. The biscuits and gravy were good, a bit salty for me. With plenty of seating, a cute environment, kind servers, and reasonable prices, this place was great. However, the food fell flat. It wasn't fantastic or terrible. Just average. I ordered the 1/2 roast beef sandwich w/fries from the senior menu, which meant the serving sizes were smaller. And the sandwich was indeed very small. I ate it very quickly and it was good, but easily something I could make myself. They did give me a decent amount of fries though, which I appreciated. but these fries weren't that delicious. Service is good and staff is friendly. However, the fresh fruit looked like it had been sitting for over 24 hours and tasted horrible. Melon should not be that mushy. :( And my husband said his omelets Swiss cheese tasted processed and not authentic. Also they really need to clean the restaurant, as it is dirty. The blinds, walls, and booths need a good scrubbing. When ever a restaurant is that dirty, I worry that the kitchen may also be dirty. :( read more

This place is *so good*, only split one breakfast between two people. I had the Italian omelette and biscuits and gravy. The Italian omelette had finnochio (fennel sausage) in it. So yummy! After an early morning rise I needed to energize so I pulled out my handy Yelp app and found this breakfast place. Wait was long and out the door, however I overheard that the tables outside are open siting so as soon as someone got up we snagged a table, probably saving us a good 20 minutes off of our wait time. I always hesitate to sit outside because I feel like we are the forgotten tables, however I was pretty impressed that the wait staff came out to check on us regularly. We ordered orange juice and the waitress asked us if we wanted a small one or a boot, I wanted the larger one, but had no idea what a boot was until it came out in a glass shaped boot :) My husband ordered a crispy waffle which was delivered as ordered and I ordered a skillet with egg, cheese, bacon and potatoes. I have to say I have never been served a skillet that was almost 35% bacon and 35% cheese and then the rest was the egg and potatoes. Usually skillets are more potatoes and eggs, the was definitely too much bacon in the skillet for me. It was good, I just couldn't eat all that bacon. Man O man! Possibly my new favorite go to for sit down breakfast! While being in old town today we needed a breakfast fix from our early morning. I'm glad we came across Sandy's. I'll start off by kudos to the entire staff working today and especially the manager. The 3rd annual car show was in full affect so I'm assuming they were much busier then usual. I sat at the bar top and saw the entire workforce. What stood out to me was how the manager talked to his staff. Really professional and motivating. (I know what your thinking, motivational in a breakfast joint)? All I know is that this place was dialed! My cup of joe and water never got a chance to go empty. Now the food, I ordered one of my favorite dishes. Corned beef hash and eggs with biscuits & gravy. Was great! The hash was possibly the best I've had. The biscuits & gravy were ok. I suggest if you are hungry to order a full plate of the biscuits, they are on the smaller end. I definitely recommend this establishment for your breakfast and lunch needs. The low star rating is that Sandy's has a business site on Yelp that I guess they have not claimed and it allows you to order online via GrubHub. I made an online order to pick up, was charged but never received notice the order was ready to pick up. I called the restaurant to find out about the order. The hostess who answered informed me that they had issues with GrubHub continuing to take orders but they did t do online orders. File a complaint against GrubHub. Claim your Yelp Site and delete it. The best dark roast coffee I have ever tasted ever in an American breakfast diner . That type of coffee you would only find in places like Italy or even Portugal. Once we got there, they said we were next instead of checking off our backs because we weren't there when the first table was ready, which we appreciated. That's a major plus! I recently ate here with friends. You need to come early as the restaurant fills up quickly. The serving staff are well-trained. They are welcoming and kind when taking care of our vets, family and friends, kids and seniors. The cook did a great on our meals and we thoroughly enjoyed them. I can say 99% of the time this place is hands down amazing. I always get the diced ham and cheddar cheese with crunchy hashbrowns and sourdough toast. Oh and I can't forget the most amazing salsa my mouth has ever tasted. But this time I decided to break the diced ham streak and went with a country fried steak. It breaks my heart to say I shouldn't have done that. I just was not impressed at all with the country fried steak. I originally came in dying of starvation thinking I had ordered online- which was not set up on their end (not their fault)- we explained what happened and we were instantly taken care of, seated with drinks in under a minute.
