This is an amazing nail salon, it is a family oriented place they are always so welcoming and loving. I have been going to them since I left my job at a nail salon, they are the only people I trust to give me a proper refill, and wax, they use top of the line products. So I think their prices are extremely reasonable if you put into account the products they are using! They have awesome hours they are open later than other salons this is a great choice for people who work late hours, I have seen them stay long pass closing hours to accommodate customer, which is extremely considerate due to the fact that have to sit all day long. They have a variety of nail colors, as long as I have been going I still haven't had a chance to try every amazing color they have! This place is disgusting. We only gave it a shot because it was within walking distance. It would honestly fail an inspection. From the moment we walked in, the smell of fried fish and acetone almost knocks you out! I'm surprised we didn't walk out right then and there. We figured - what the heck. Since I live in the area this is my neighborhood nailery and they do a good job with pedicures and manicures. The staff is super friendly especially the younger girls; who make you feel welcome and comfortable. It is a family run business and you can tell they take pride in their work and the atmosphere. Yikes. Don't even know how I ended up here TWICE. The first time, I had moved in the area and needed a last-minute brow wax. The lady who took care of me was nice and all, and after all I liked the shape and the wax job lasted. However, the overall hygiene there is not so good. The wax station seemed a mess, with used strips full of hairs all over the scene. Considering that waxing can cause surface infection if not done properly, I didn't like what I saw at all. The second time, almost 2 years later, it was also a last-minute thing. (I don't know what it is about me and last-minutes.) I was at Valley Green park and later stopped by that nail salon. I couldn't remember whether I liked it the first time or not because it had been so long, but as soon as I entered through that door I remembered. Things haven't changed and this time I was left really grossed out. While I was waiting, I wandered around and noticed how dirty the place is. I could see a couple of small baby roaches scrawling on the glass of the counter by the plants. I didn't like the fact that, like last time, the employees act so unprofessionally around customers. One of them was hanging around barefoot on the dirty floor and, hear this: they screamed and shouted and cursed in front of the customers. A business like this should be clean and peaceful, and professional. Really funny that they are "now offering massages" in such a chaotic place. But that's not everything. The girl doing my eyebrows the second time didn't even clean the to-wax skin with alcohol first and she applied hot wax on one of my eyebrows twice! You never wax the same area twice, especially a delicate area. OMG. I could feel the rash burn like a mother&%$#@*. To top it off, she had just finished a pedicure and excused herself for a minute to basically rub something on the customer's toes. She comes back to me and didn't even wash her hands before touching my face again. I guess I was in total shock and that's why I didn't say anything. We recently relocated to this area and I was excited to have a little nail shop close by, but sadly this is one we won't be frequenting. I brought my little girl with me just to get a polish change, and was totally put off by how unfriendly the ladies were. They didn't even look up or acknowledge us when we walked in, didn't ask what we needed, and when I asked them if they could get my little girl in, they were reluctant to even tell me how long the wait would be. They told us 30 minutes, so we left and ran errands, then came back 30 later and they still weren't done. Said it would be another 10 minutes and so we left and went to another place nearby that my fellow yelpers suggested that was great. It hasn't been a week and I've had to remove my nail polish on my fingernails. Working in a professional field I can't have chipped nail polish. Two days after I noticed bumps on my shins, thinking they were bug bites I looked closer...nope. I then thought they were ingrown hairs...nope. I don't know what was in the pedicure water/scrub but it caused pimple-like irritations and huge red marks on my legs. I went there for an eyebrow wax as a last minute resort even after reading the reviews. The ladies there are super nice and you're in and out very quickly but I'm not sure I'd go back there for waxing. I do have sensitive skin so normally when I get waxed my skin turns red for a little while so I'm always prepared for this. I asked if she could cool the wax a bit before touching my skin with it and she did. When I left my eyebrows looked amazing! Great shape, a little red but better than usual. It wasn't until I got home that I saw tiny red bumps ALL over my brows. Horrified, I called my friend who had gone there and she said the same thing happened to her and lasted for hours. The rash went away in about an hour and my brows continued to look amazing for two weeks so I'm convinced they either use old wax or need to get a different brand. I was looking for a new place to get my acrylic re-fill and Sandy herself was recommended to me by two co-workers with beautiful nails. Her work is very meticulous and since I am very picky about my nails, I really appreciated that. She also did a very beautiful and fun design on my two ring fingers, which I haven't done for years! I'll start with the good... the Nail Tech who did my manicure was really nice and gave me exactly what I needed for my Halloween night look - I believe she was either the owner or manager. The prices are cheap - my manicure was $10 and I was able to pay with a credit card (a huge pet peeve of mine is when nail salons have credit card minimums that are above the cost of their basic manicure - does not compute!). I did have to wait but not for an especially long time and after I was seated at a nail station, my mani was finished really fast. On the flip-side.... this place is so dirty and so cluttered that it is actually pretty shocking. It is by far the dirtiest nail salon I've ever been in and I am not picky! The bathroom is especially bad - it's basically a toilet separated from the salon floor by a piece of plywood. I am not at all shocked that other yelp reviews include pest sightings because when I walked in, sat down to wait, and started looking around, the first thing I thought was "there have to be roaches in here" (to be clear though: I did not personally see any bugs or other vermin on the premises). The space is so cluttered and disorganized that it creates a decidedly *un*-relaxing salon experience. And while I was happy with the way my manicure *looked*, the flipside of the fast service was that the actual work done to my nails was way below par - my nail tech never even brought out a nail buff. Basically, I paid to have my nails filed and painted - the service I received was not a full manicure. Dirty! I was going to get a gel manicure & pedicure... But after all the countless violations I saw, I'm amazed I even let myself sit through a pedicure. I'm a licensed stylist, so I realize I'm picky, but that also means I know what would be considered not just "icky" but a definite code violation. On top of those issues, the place was cramped and noisy (with most of the noise coming from the staff yelling at one another). My pedicure was awful. The woman doing it didn't listen to me at all and scrubbed my feet too much, and then barely rubbed a little bit of oil in them. No lotion and no massage. They are rougher and more dried out than before the pedicure. I asked for a few lines as a design and ended up with blobs of color I didn't ask for that looked like a 5 year old did them. I left immediately after that, telling them I didn't have time for a manicure. I wish I had spoken up more and not paid for the service or stopped them when I realized how dirty the place was. My experience here was absolutely the worst! I came in for a refill, sat there for at least an hour and a half as I watched them take customers they knew over me! I wanted to leave but that was the only nailery in my area that was open and I needed my nails done badly. Once I got seated with Sandy, the owner, she goes off for another 15 minutes to eat! If you like wasting your time, this is the place for you! I wasted an hour and a half there. I'm new to the area and was looking for a new nail salon and this one is a block away. I decided to give it a try tonight. I got there at 6pm. First of all, there is no such thing as a Reception booth. There is just someone asking you what you need at the other side of the shop. I just wanted a manicure, nothing special just polish no gel or any of that. She said 20 minutes and I knew that it was going to be longer since there was some people waiting already. 45 MINUTES AFTER THE INITIAL 20, I had still not been serviced, and no one was even acknowledging that I was still waiting or keeping me updated. I gave it another 15 minutes and still had not been serviced. Nothing said to me, not even a "pick your color, we'll be with your in a minute" NOTHING. They were just doing their friends and cousins nails, chatting, eating, texting. I do my nails every other week + some waxing so they just lost a potentially regular client. If I could give 0 stars I would. I think the nail polish is still from the 90's and the upkeep is terrible. My friend and I went on a whim after work and it was chaotic -- except it seemed like one big family reunion instead of clientele. We were told to pick from (a very small selection) of colors and sit in the pedicure chairs. The tools used looked dirty and made me nervous - yet - I sat through it anyways. After taking a good look around, I noticed how much dirtier the place actually was and run down it seemed. I have been getting my nails done for YEARS and have never experienced what I did this week. I went to Sandy's Nails in East Falls on Weds and got a usual refill and design. I have been here numerous times and never had a problem. The technician this time was fine and even sweet. Three days later two nails broke, which is very odd for me unless I am doing something that causes a break. I figured I could go in to get them fixed.... right? Today I went back and told the same tech that I was unsure how my nails had broken and she became visibly PISSED telling me that this made no sense. Then she slapped on two new tips that she didn't file to match my other hand (neither in thickness nor in length) and proceeded to snap at me when I stuck my hand in to dry my gel because the light didn't go on (Clearly I should have known this and informed her since it's not her job to know if she turns her own equipment on or anything.) Though she neglected to include the design I have on 8 other fingers, she was done so I asked what I owed. She charged me $10 and shot me an awful look that awed my friend. I laughed it off when I walked out just figuring I won't return there.... then I got home and another nail broke.... I have had good experiences here before and met the owner who is LOVELY.
