I've always hesitated to try this place due to the negative reviews, but was in a hurry for lunch and decided to stop in. I ordered a crunchy roll to go and was told the wait would be 20 min. I went ahead and ordered, killing time at the thrift store nearby. When I got home I was so disappointed. The roll wasn't good and fell apart. Portion was small, too. Salmon is my favorite type of raw fish so I especially love coming to Sango Sushi to get their French Kiss Roll which has spicy salmon on the inside with salmon sashimi on the outside. Their salmon is very fresh and delicious. My husband likes getting the Super Bento Box which gives him sashimi and chicken teriyaki. We also ordered oyakodon and chicken udon which were decent. The restaurant is not that big with a few tables for dine in. It is bright and clean and the staff is very friendly. The food comes out fast. We enjoy coming here once in awhile when I have my salmon roll craving. read more

Bad experience on ordering and pricing due to a confusion in the online ordering system

We came here tonight, Sunday night, and the place was busy. I'm surprised about the lower ratings because what we ordered was good. I had the Oriental Bento box. Everything was good. Poke salad had the right amount of poke for me as an appetizer. The teriyaki chicken breast was perfectly cooked and delicious. The California roll and tempura were both good. Hubby had the combination plate with teriyaki chicken and tempura and he loved it. He never really cared for teriyaki but surprisingly he loved it tonight! Now, the best was Kate, the young lady at the front of the house. She was amazing and very sweet. And she basically did EVERYTHING! Kate greets people the minute they walk in. She takes the orders, rings up the cash register, serves all tables when foods are ready, brings what diners need, cleans and wipes down tables after people finish eating, etc., all with a smile! When customers leave, she always makes sure to reach out and say "thank you and have a good night!". 10 stars plus for Kate! We will be back again soon. Just moved to Aliso and was happy to see a sushi spot within walking distance of our place. The sushi is fresh, the prices are decent, and they're fast with the take out orders. I also got a bento and you get a lot of food! Pictured here are two special rolls. Service is ok. Been here many times. At the end of my first meal there, I found a blue piece of old rubber band inside of my roll. Found it as I was chewing and it did not taste edible. Not Good, since who knows what else I ate and might've missed by tongue filtration. I'm Asian and I often eat Japanese food, which I really enjoy. I especially love rolls and sashimi sushi. Yesterday, I visited a Japanese restaurant right next to the CVS. The rolls were incredibly delicious, and the sashimi was outstanding. The sukiyaki bento that my companion had was also very tasty. The prices were lower compared to other places since they were on sale, and the open kitchen, along with the excellent interior for the price, added to the satisfaction. It's a comfortable and hygienically managed place to enjoy Japanese food at an affordable price with friends and family. If you're in the area and looking for good, reasonably priced Japanese food, I highly recommend it! I started eating so quickly as soon as the food arrived that I didn't get a chance to take any pictures. The food was even better than it looked in pictures! Sango has been in this center for years. I grew up on Sango, which makes me extra fond of it! It is one of those sushi spots that gives you what you want. No bells and whistles. The restaurant isn't anything too fancy and the food isn't anything too extravagant. But if you find yourself craving sushi, they will satisfy that craving! They have good sized rolls, prices that won't burn a hole in your pocket, and good quality sushi. We've lived in the area for over 3 years now and only recently discovered Sango Sushi. While I don't indulge in sushi, I love miso soup and tempura shrimp. This seems to be the closest spot to find just what I'm looking for. Sango is located in a strip mall on the corner of La Paz and Pacific Park. You'll find it in the northwest corner of the shopping center by CVS. Since this is a shared location, ample parking is available in the lot. It's easy to pass this restaurant up because this location is quite small. So, make sure that you read the signage carefully as you search for this restaurant. Sango is a small restaurant in which you can dine in or take out. The dining room is a bit cramped and you end up invading diners' space while you place your order, if the line is long. Speaking of the dining area, it needs to be tended to more often. The table that we sat at wasn't the cleanest and both toddler high chairs that we selected needed to be cleaned. When we pointed this out, it was taken care of right away though. The menu is straight forward. I gravitate toward yakisoba noodles, shrimp tempura, and miso soup. The yakisoba noodles are absolutely delicious! My niece had a chicken bowl and said that she loves this place! With everything being straight forward, you can't got wrong with Sango. This really is a convenient place to stop by for takeout. Your food is typically ready within less than 15 minutes. People are very friendly and accommodating. I have been going to this place for 10+ years. This has been a local favorite ever since I was a kid. They renovated the place and are able to accommodate a little more. Restaurant is not big, so it could get a little crowded but no big deal. From bento boxes to udon to rolls, everything tastes delicious and fresh. Our personal favorites are the FUTOMAKI, the katsu curry, rainbow roll, baked salmon roll. The bento box is plenty. For $11.50 you get chicken teriyaki, gyoza, salmon, steamed veggies, edamame, shrimp & veggie tempura with rice and a lot of pickled sides. We've also ordered sushi platters here for parties. Workers are so friendly. Vicky used to work here and she remembered our regular orders all the time. Recently, a younger lady helped us out and she was very sweet and helpful. What a great find! We love Sango sushi! We have live in this area for years and not until recently we found this place. At first, we were a bit hesitant to try as we are super picky about sushi. My hubby is a Japanese American and lived in Japan taught foreigner students how to make sushi. His standard for good sushi is high. Since we were dying for good sushi and I notice there were lots of people ordering to-go's, we decided to give it a try. It was incredible! The food was super fresh and the price is considerably reasonable. We have been here almost every week since. Our favorite is their chirashi.
