I was in the area and looking for somewhere to have lunch a Yelp search provided Kayuga and it sounded good. I am not from the area so I navigated to the strip mall location. Upon walking in I was greeted quickly. I stood at the counter and read the menus on the walls. It was an indecisive day for me so I stood there for a while. I decided on the tuna poké with sauces on the side. You could tell this was a family owned business (my favorite to support). [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's clean and has about 6 tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sat and waited for my bowl. It didn't take long. It was very fresh and flavorful. I appreciate the sauces on the side so I could make it how I like it. It was filling and just what I needed on a hot day. I'm glad I stumbled upon this restaurant and if I'm in the area I would definitely come again.

I got the mixed poke bowl with brown rice. It was a bit pricey at about $25 including tax and tip, but I think it was the best poke bowl I've ever had. The fish and vegetables were cold and the rice was warm with had a good amount of sweet vinegar. Great balance and freshness to the dish overall. Service was quick and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself was small and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will return.

    Popcorn crawfish
    Nolita N.

Stopped by here on a weekday to grab lunch with my sister and we were really pleased with our lunch. Their menu is really extensive and everything sounded so good, but we were trying not to over do it. The service was nice, it is for sure a mom and pop shop, so definitely support them if you can! The price was also reasonable as well, which I appreciated. I can't remember the names of everything we got, but everything was really good. We for sure got the popcorn crawfish, which I liked. The crunch from the crawfish added a nice texture profile to the roll. Overall, the space was clean, with no frills. I would go back for sure! They did get pretty busy during the lunch hour, and I can tell that they have regulars who frequent the spot.

Dragon, Salmon, Orange County and Crunch cut rolls

Husband was interested in their buy 1 get 1 50% off any cut roll special. It was such a good deal we had to check it out. We arrived at opening so we virtually had the place to ourselves for the first hour before pick up orders and a few patrons started to trickle in. We got four rolls. Dragon & Orange Country rolls which were both a California base with different toppings. OC had masago while Dragon was the typical with avocado and eel. I chose really basic cut rolls since I love salmon and truly believe if a place has good buttery salmon, I would most likely return. My choice: - Salmon & Avocado - Crunch: crab meat, avocado, fried shrimp with crunch flakes While the price was appealing, the taste was lackluster. The crunch roll had a weird nutty aftertaste and the tempura flakes felt stale. It tasted like peanuts and it didn't quite complement the roll haha. The salmon was okay. Out of the four, the dragon roll was memorable, but it was the only one that was sauced. Overall, the meal was mid. While we left somewhat full, we didn't have any strong feelings about returning. Seemed like the bowls were more popular so maybe we give that a try next time.

We ordered rolls and sashimi on New Year's Eve and had a great experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a cute, family-run restaurant, and the owner was extremely welcoming and kind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The rolls are very affordable and generously made, and the sashimi was thick and fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the overall atmosphere was warm and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back again.

Craving inexpensive sushi so was reeled in by the buy one get half off rolls. The discount is on the lesser priced rolls in your order. Quality is ok, tastes pretty good after all the sauces. Self serve water station. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Several tables available inside for dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Highly recommend! Peter was super helpful when ordering. He makes the rolls up front at counter. Very fresh and tasty. Got the baked scallop roll, honey roll, and yellowtail sashimi. So Yum! Got a bonus of Kaguya sushi. Ooh so good! Don't let the buy one get one 50% off all rolls fool you. This place is excellent! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of seating inside for a quick bite or to go option.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very casual. Nice chill music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Poke salmon with Spicy Sauce

This a clean, small, hole in the wall family owned business. I stopped by here to get a quick meal to eat. The customer service was great! They were super friendly and the worker provided me with a great recommendation. I got the salmon poke bowl with the spicy sauce option. It was delicious!!! I love spicy food and this bowl had a great balance of spice to the dish without overpowering it. I ate everything including the ginger, which I don't normally eat. It was probably one of the best poke bowls I've tried. I also got a green tea drink, which was a standard Arizona green tea. My meal was around $23 with tip. I will definitely come back here to try other dishes when I'm in the area.

    Avocado sushi

Tried this new-to-us Japanese place for dinner. It was only OK. The ramen noodles clearly were from an instant ramen and they scrambled the egg instead of using a whole egg cut in half like most places. The sushi was the best part for our kids, but my wife said the tuna wasn't as cold as she likes.

I initially reached out about reserving a table for 40+ people during a basketball tournament weekend and was told the manager would contact me back. Sure enough, she called promptly to confirm everything for our Saturday dinner reservation. The entire process was seamless and incredibly easy, especially considering this was a larger-than-normal party. Taizy handled everything professionally. She seamlessly added the extra guests without hesitation. Her only request was that we send over everyone's food orders ahead of time so the kitchen could prepare and ensure nobody had to wait too long. And wow -- they absolutely delivered. Every single order came out accurately and in a very timely fashion. No mistakes, no confusion, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. The servers were organized, attentive, and handled a very large group with ease. Service was truly 10/10. One of the reasons I chose Kin Sushi for a large group dinner was because the menu truly has something for everyone -- udon, sushi rolls, vegetarian rolls, bento boxes, chirashi, sashimi, and something for everyone. They even had Thai iced tea, which isn't normally something in you have in a Japanese restaurant. Parking was very easy, which is always appreciated when coordinating a large party, and there's a restroom conveniently located in the back. I'm beyond grateful for how well they handled our group, and I would absolutely return here again for future team dinners or large gatherings. Highly recommend!

Our server was very attentive and accommodating at the beginning, but when we brought to her attention that the salad which was served with the meal was wilted and rotten, she absolutely did nothing but will let the kitchen staff know. In addition, the rice was probably a day old and clumpy that none of us could finish it. Bento protein portions are small especially for the salmon. Ginger and wasabi was offered as an option when sushi was ordered. No apologies and nothing was comped from our bill.

The sashimi is fresh and clean, with that perfect melt-in-your-mouth quality. The chicken teriyaki is also very good, flavorful, tender, and generously portioned. And the lunch combo is the real standout: about $14 gets you your entrée plus miso soup, salad, and rice. In this area, that price simply can't be beat. I liked that it wasn't too crunchy like some rolls are. It is surgical in its layers of crunch. Another roll I liked was the dragon roll. The rolls are on the larger side which is good but they match the price. The Tonkotsu ramen was pretty bland so I recommend adding some spice or sauce to spruce up the broth but the ingredients were all tasty. Overall it's a decent place to get sushi. This was a first and hard to believe: The dipping sauce was refrig. cold - terrible when dipping a hot shrimp in a cold liquid. When I flagged her down, she asked if I wanted it microwaved. I did. FYI -- no photos because we were busy with a cranky toddler. First, the service was genuinely great. The sweetest lady helped us with the menu and served our food, and we really appreciated her kindness. We were also given complimentary edamame, which was thoughtful, although it was bland, dry, and cold -- almost like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while. Since it was complimentary, we didn't think too much of it. For the mains, we ordered the beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki bento specials. Unfortunately, both proteins were sliced extremely thin. The chicken especially had a jerky-like texture, and both the chicken and beef lacked flavor. After reading other reviews, they had similar experience. The teriyaki sauce itself was also pretty bland. The tempura was okay, but the tempura dipping sauce tasted watered down and lacked the usual savory depth you'd expect. The one standout was the roll topped with salmon and avocado with spicy tuna inside. It was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and well-balanced. Based on this, I honestly think rolls are what they do best. I really hope they improve the preparation and seasoning of the chicken and beef because it was a major turnoff -- and this is coming from someone who eats pretty much everything. It's hard to justify paying around $22 for a bento when the main protein feels flavorless and insubstantial. With so many good Japanese resto in Lake Forest, I would skip this until the proteins are fixed.
