So I drive pass here all the time and have been thinking of going in and I finally did. First off when coming here if you are driving I recommend parking in the mall lot because street parking is very minimal. So I went in and asked to be seated for 3. My mom, grandmother and myself. I was the first one there, I informed the waiter that I was gonna wait to order but every few seconds I saw him hovering around. As my mother and grandma came in the waiter continued to hover coming over every 2 minutes asking if we was ready to order a drink or food, at this point I was starting to get annoyed. After we finally decided what we wanted and ordered we didn't see the waiter again until the check came. What I will say is that food was really good. We went in for luncha and the lunch portion and the same size as if you order a main course dish. Well well I usually have a good experience at this establishment until tonight. My waitress was horrible. My friend and myself waited extremely long for her to take our order. When she did my friend's order was wrong so they had to take her order back twice. The bill came mind you tip is already added and I still gave her a $30 tip. On 12/7/24 a friend of mine and I decided to go into sangria cafe for the evening for food and drinks, the food was okay. I had a churrasco steak which was done well and my friend had salmon which was dry as desert sand. The music was extremely loud, the DJ played Jamaican music bashing the gay community which was a bit uncomfortable. Music like that should not be playing music that is bias in a restaurant. My friends and I brunches at this place this past Sunday, and I was very pleased. The food was good and the service were better. Everyone was attentive to us, and it had reduced seating for covid protocols. The croquetas were delicious, and the steak I ordered was actually cooked perfectly medium. (TBH, I was shocked. I ordered for delivery their beef steak sandwich with mozzarella and beef empanadas...3 come in an order let me just say the empanadas were FIRE sooooo good, the beef well seasoned and it was fried so perfectly! Also the green sauce is CHEFS KISS!! the steak sandwich was ok, not bad..it was a decent chunk of steak and well done...I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy it if you ordered it, but it wasn't amazing to me. That could be my fault, I usually prefer Philly cheesesteaks It came with fries that were ok too, I'm sure they'd have been better if it wasn't delivered and were eaten fresh. I actually came to yelp, to drag Subway the way they deserved to be drag and since I was here, I might as well review this restaurant. I generally leave reviews if they were super good or super bad. The Sangria Cafe was good and my experience was nice when I was there. We went in on a Sunday afternoon, after watching a movie near by. We walked in and were seated right away. The music was super load, but at the time we were not aware there was another area where we could have been seated. Though the music was loud I think I got used to it after a few minutes. After reviewing the menu we made our orders and the food did not take too long to be prepared. The food was good. My boyfriend and I ordered the seafood boil, it did say it was for two people but I would disagree. It's also possible that we just eat too much. The sausage was a good flavor, it was nice and spicy. The crab and shrimp was cooked well and the flavors were subtle but nice. My boyfriend's son ordered the steak and he enjoyed that as well. All in all the experience was good and I enjoyed myself. The service was good and the staff is kind, from the doorman to the host to the servers. It was consistent across the board. The restroom was also clean on my visit, which is always a plus. The DJ is a nice addition, playing music many different people would enjoy, but like I mentioned it was a tad loud. It's possible that's only a Sunday thing. If not for that it would be a 5 star, conversations are just easier when it's not noisy. Overall pretty good. read more

First off, the atmosphere and ambience was extremely welcoming, the DJ (DJ Psycho) presented outstanding videos with a very tasteful music mix of a myriad of musical genre especially since there was no space for dancing, the food.....OMG!!!! The food was excellent in presentation, plentiful in portion and the taste of it all was exquisitely breathtaking for me. Right out of the box.!!! I've never been so aggravated and disgusted with a restaurant!!! From the beginning when I walked in, I was not greeted by a hostess because there wasn't a hostess at the front, just an empty hostess stand. After greeting my family I stopped a person walking past *which later turned out to be the general manager*. I explained to her I had reservations and was ready to be seated. She couldn't find my reservation but after showing her my open table confirmation still seated us being that the place was empty. Moving along... we ordered drinks *happy hour is only at the bar so couldn't take advantage of that* and appetizers. FYI... the Sangria Flight which is pictured all over Yelp is no longer offered. We had calamari, empanadas, yuca and chicken chunks. My calamari was salty, the other apps were enjoyed by my family. In the midst of eating our apps we ordered our entrees. The entrees took forever to come out. 2 out of 4 entrees arrived cold and had to be sent back. My family equally liked their meals, I on the other hand had the Red Snapper & wasn't impressed by mine. Move along we requested the bill and I was shocked when the waitress came back with the bill and stated bills of $200 are automatically charged gratuity. Huh?! It states that no where on the menu, in the restaurant or even on the website. So I asked to speak to a manager.... 1st a floor manager appears states the same thing and says she can call her General Manager. The general manager then appears which happens to be the person I flagged down earlier to be seated. She states the same thing but states it's over $100 and not $200 and further says their policy doesn't have to be stated or posted anywhere. At this point I was disgusted, paid my bill and left. I won't be returning and will make sure to let all of my friends and co workers know not to waste their time in this establishment which is poorly run. This is my first time here and boy and i am very impressed with the ambiance, the service and the food. I came during Saturday brunch and had the prix fix with unlimited sangria for two hours! Not only were the sangrias delicious, they were not watered down. I must admit that I have a personal two drink maximum and went over by one. I paid for that with a headache for the rest of the day. Be advised to incorporate water and lots of it! I ordered the salad starter (delicious), the pollo con waffles and the chicken was nicely seasoned and the waffles were fluffy. It was quite a bit of food but I did my best. I loves the background music and the upbeat environment. It is great for a cheerful celebration and is child friendly when I went. There wasn't an abundance of shrimp but hey is there ever enough shrimp? My dad chose the braised short rib with the yuca mash. I really wish I'd followed his lead on this choice. It was out of this world amazing. Perfectly braised short rib in a light herbed wine sauce over garlic yuca smash with green beans. Phenomenal to say the least. My sister kept it really simple with her order of mini arepas (Arepitas) and she said she loved it but we wouldn't know because ya know, appetizer sized things don't get shared. We ordered flavored sangrias around the table and no one was disappointed there. I had the coconut sangria and ohhhhhhhhhh booooyyy! Jackpot ya'll! Silently strong so be cautious. Got here about 4:30 p.m. on a Friday, and it wasn't crowded. Our server was attentive and friendly. He recommended the passion fruit sangria which was sweet and made well. I liked the fried snapper although it tasted a bit "fishy", the sautéed spinach was salty, and the maduros tasted sour. Something was definitely wrong with that batch. The shrimp and guacamole mofongitos were huge! So far my favorite dishes are the guacamole with plantain chips and fried cheese, and the fried calamari. If I return here, I have to stick with these two basic dishes only. By 8:00 p.m. the music was pumping and so was my head. This restaurant was a highly anticipated and much welcomed addition to the community.Although there are plenty of chain and fast food restaurants nearby, It has little to no competition from others among millennials due to it not being a chain. Ambiance: The place has a really good ambiance. Plenty of TVs to see sports and news. They also have a live DJ on weekend nights. Last Saturday, they played some 90s songs and the place was loving it. Food: I've been plenty of times, but I've only had 2 entrees and 1 dessert. The entrees I've had were the Pollo Al Mojo ($17) and the Bistec Chino ($22). P.A.M. was tasty, great sauce, crispy skin, and comes with a side of rice & beans. The Bistec Chino is my favorite because they cook the vegetable fried rice well and the steak is cooked well. They also add a soy glaze sauce to the meat which takes it to another level. Where else can you get quality dinner steak for less than $25? The steak entree changes depending on the time of day that you go. It can be seen in the pictures that I've uploaded during my different trips. I've also come for brunch. I didn't partake in that menu or the unlimited drink options, but the food looked amazing. Nice menu available for it as well. The desert menu isn't physically available but they can tell you the options on request. I've ordered the Crème brûlée cheesecake twice. The presentation changed on this both times as well. Drinks: I've had a couple of cocktails. Wasn't feeling it much, due to the ingredients used. A lot of pomegranate on the menu as well as over-sweetened triple sec.The on tap sangria is decent; very consistent among trips. They have a good selection of bottles behind the bar (most of which they don't use in their signature cocktails), but they don't have a separate menu listing the spirits. Now that I have mentioned those key points I can begin with my detailed summary of my experience at the Sangria Cafe... We were seated by a nice greeter. However, after that it took a very long time for a waiter to greet us and take our order. Countless waiters would pass by our table and nobody paid attention to us. Finally, a server tended to us, but he was lousy. He did the bare minimum the entire time my husband and I were at the restaurant. He served us warm water without ice on a 90 degree day. And on top of that he accidentally poured a decent amount of that water on the floor and wet my foot, but he couldn't be bothered to mop it up creating a safety hazard for anyone who would walk by. We ordered the Churrasco with a side of sweet plantains and the Lomo Saltado dishes. The wait for the food was astronomical. In the meantime we ordered a lemonade. It tasted like a really cheap lemonade you get from the corner store or something. It was a horrible tasting lemonade. As we waited, 3 waiters bumped into me and my bag. If they aren't going to have hooks for the patron's purse (at the tables), then they should expect us to hang it off of our chair, and if that's the case they shouldn't bump into the bag! This was obviously very annoying. I eventually had to ask to be moved to one of the tables where one seat was part of a bench, that way I can put my purse on the bench and I could avoid this issue. Our food then finally came after God only knows how long (it felt like forever), my husband's food was cold (he got the Lomo Saltado) and mediocre tasting and looking. My food however, was not cold and tasted pretty good. But, my side of sweet plantains did not come along with my food. I had to ask for them twice after receiving my meal in order to get them to eat them along with the rest of my food. My sweet plantains were kind of cold and overpriced. I paid $5 for literally 5 tiny pieces of plantains. At other restaurants a side order of sweet plantains is $5, but I either get a little more than 5 pieces or they are decently sized and warm! Out of 3 sauces that came along with my steak, only one tasted good and that was the pico de gallo. The green chimichurri sauce had no flavor and the brown mystery sauce just tasted weird and bad. After eating what we could from our meals, all I wanted was a doggy bag (since my food wasn't bad tasting) and the check and even those things took a while for the employees to gather for us. When we finally saw the check, apparently although we were just a party of 2 the establishment charged a 20% gratuity fee, something that to me is unheard of for a party of 2 that consumed less than $100! I guess that this is how they ensure that their mediocre waiters get a tip despite the shoddy service! I would never go to this restaurant again. The wait to have our orders taken and for the fulfillment of our orders felt eternal and the staff did the bare minimum. Besides the fact that my husband couldn't enjoy his meal because it was cold and not very flavorful. Me and my boyfriend went here and it was on a busy Friday night. We were seated near the DJ booth which was really loud but again it was 9pm on Friday night. So we understood. The hostess was really helpful and nice. Our waitress was busy and did take some time to come around towards the end of our meal. I loved my scallops great flavor the mash was decent the small shrimps were off putting I thought they were going to chop them up with the mashed but it's fine. My boyfriend got a pork shoulder w rice. I tasted his food the rice was good and the pork fell off the bone wish it had more flavor though. He loved it. The music was great and the hookah was amazing too. Prices are pretty normal 8-12 appetizer and 16-30 for entrees depending on what you want. Drinks were pretty good. Ordered a Sam Adams winter lager ... it was flat and sour , ordered a Sam Adams Boston lager .. they were all out . I ordered a Pacifico beer , it was the wrong beer that was connected to the Tap . Finally after giving up on the tap beers I tried to order a Medalia beer , they didn't have any more . I have been to Sangria about 6 times. Today 5/23/23 I went there around 1 pm with two friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. We ordered drinks, appetizers and food. We were sitting towards the back of the restaurant where there is a line of couches with lined color backs. I was sitting on a wooden chair at the table facing my two guests that were sitting on the couched seating. As we were also most wrapping up and finishing the last drinks we ordered, I looked in between my two guests and there was a small baby mouse sitting at the top of the backing to the couches. The critter climbed up behind the backing and perched himself on the edging between both of them. I was shocked and instead of grabbing my cellphone to record i said to my two friends there is a mouse sitting between both of you. At first they thought I was kidding but as they slight turned their heads they saw the litter critter, with his beady eyes and little round ears. Well as you can imagine they both jumped up and screamed. This was enough action for the mouse to crawl back down from where he came. We got the waiter attending us and the bartender, they called for the manager and besides apologizing and saying they have pest control services coming in often, there was no other courtesy customer service action taken. We paid our bill and told them we would never be back. The manager did not offer to reduce the bill as a courtesy or even offer a free round of drinks which we probably would not have accepted at that point. We are also filing a NYC 311 complaint.
