Ate here while staying as a guest at the resort. IMHO, Sangria's is part of a resort and should be judged accordingly. Resort restaurants customarily play second fiddle to the overall parent (resort)...they're not trying to earn any Michelin stars. Surprised by some of the harsh reviews (part of the angry 1-star Yelp brigade?). Thought the food was decent. Had the pretzel bites with grain mustard sauce and the jalapeno smoked wings. Turkey club for me and BLAT (BLT with avocado) for the better half. The apps slightly outperformed the entrees, but still happy overall. Generous size on the drinks. Red sangria came filled to the brim. A good deal at $8. Other notes: the place (and overall resort) is pretty classy, thoughtfully decorated in old world Italy theme. Comfortable, spacious. Clean bathrooms. A few big TV's to watch the game. Pool tables. Service was very good (we were one of just a few couples on a quiet Sunday night, so can't comment on what effect a big conference/full hotel might have on the service). Come: if you're staying at The Scottsdale Resort (or one of the resorts down the street and want another option); if you're happy with pub fare (that's been a little classed up); if want a place to chill, watch the game, shoot some pool. Don't come: if you're inner foodie is a little cranky and demanding food that makes you want to Yelp you're little heart out/ play food critic for the day. read more

Came here on a Friday night after friends arrived in town. We were staying at this Scottsdale Resort for the weekend for Spring Training and didn't want to go far to grab some drinks. The kitchen is open til 11pm and the food was decent. We ordered the BLAT, a quesadilla and a Caesar salad and had no complaints. The service was great and the waitress was accommodating when we wanted to sit outside by the bonfire. They have poor tables in case you're itching to play pool. On a Friday night, all the bar seats were taken but there we're still tons of tables. I'm sure we will be back at some point again this weekend! read more

Sangria's Lounge - BLAT, caesar salad and a quesadilla - New American Near Me - Scottsdale, Arizona

God help me but I was trapped at this resort and had to eat lunch here. Yes, I only ate here once, but I got the idea that the circle of cilinary hell I was in was typical. - 1 Star - Wierdly dark. Came in at 2pm on a weekday and what lights were on (most those over the bar were OFF), were dimmed down to the strip-club level. To encourage more drinking? To save electricity? Just flat out weird. - 1 Star - Horrible, dreadful food. A quesadilla should not be served cut up in to slices and stacked on top of each other if the slices are so watery with oil, so underdone, so glutinously sticky that each slice cannot be pulled away from that below it. And what's with the bizarre "chipolte" sauce poured over my stacked mass? It was like watery mayo with orange coloring. Foul beyond words. The pico de gallo was okay, though! But then there was the side salad. Old tasting lettuce, chunks of flat-fridge-tasting tomato and croutons that came out of a stale bag left open since... not sure when. I don't think I have left a salad untouched in years, until today. How was the dressing for the salad? Oh, hi, nice to see you Mister Plastic Bottled blue cheese. - 1 Star/ + 1 Star - Server. I sat at the bar, and with about 12 stools available, there was only one other taken, so it was not busy. The bartender was attentive, not neglectful. But there could have been some warmth, some pleasantry? Right? I mean, take a few moments to ask... something beside the basics - whatcha want? No? + 1 Star/-1 Star - The music. It's like the 80's are alive, and kicking here at the ole Sangria. Sort of cool but not as this is just not *that* sort of place. - 1 Star - The Price. Once again, as with the other eaterie on property, it's like they know they have you by the short-hairs. A quesadilla and small salad for about $20, without any drink (water! free!)? Ridic. There isn't much more to say about this place other than it is the 2nd restaurant on the premises of the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center. I understand that the pool bar (which was not open the few days I was here) serves food from Sangria's, so SSDD is the vibe. What Sangria's and it's snazzier (but still crappy) sister joint, the Palm Court, need is a food facelift. They could get away with being mediocre in so many other ways (decor, out-dated vibe in general) if the food was good. But it's not even fresh! This resort needs to step up their food game. Maybe they can get away with serving slop to the conventioneers, but the fact that they had rooms available at last minute notice when the rest of Scottsdale was booked up speaks mightily to the poverty of their food quality. Meh. I wanted a salad but was given that choice between "both kinds of lettuce". Romaine or iceberg. So I went with a burger that I ordered medium and it actually came out medium -- but was still so damn dry and chewy it was nearly inedible. This is a great place to go if you're on a diet. Nothing is so good that you'll have any trouble controlling yourself. All kidding aside, there really isn't anything that looks even remotely good on the menu. There also does not appear to be even one healthy choice, so the diet thing actually won't work. As I said, the choices are slim and don't ask for anything extra because the kitchen is three floors away so your food will be cold before whatever you asked for arrives. read more

The Groupon deal my husband got for me to stay at this hotel had a $50 food credit voucher towards any food place in the premises (taxes and tips not included) so we decided to go to Sangria's Lounge for Happy Hour. Several items were priced at $5 each. Our $5 drinks were fine but we ordered the $5 garlic, red pepper hummus and we were extremely disappointed. The hummus was completely tasteless, even its texture wasn't hummus like and it came with stale pita bread. When we inquired about the bread, we were told that they were "pita chips" but we know they weren't. We know what pita chips are and that wasn't chips, trust me. This was just plain hard pita bread. They offered to give us something else but we didn't wanna try anything else at that point. We didn't wanna complain anymore at that point because the servers probably work with what they have but their food just isn't good at all. The place was empty (even for Happy Hour, that should've been a red flag) but the servers were nice, though. $5happy hour=Five star disappointment. read more

Typical bar within a hotel. On a quiet Wednesday night, esposa and I sat for over 5 minutes before being recognized. We ordered a bottle of wine. Server brought it and two glasses to the table, filled our glasses and left. No knowledge of wine pouring (i.e., pour a sample, allow client to smell and taste, offer comments). Sadly what used to be one of the best happy hours in town is no more. Sangria'as has changed from a serious maketing endeavor to just another 'profit center'. The wonderful menu has been hacked to pieces and there is nothing that sets them apart from any other 'snack food' happy hour. I used to tell everyone about Sangria's in hopes the overall hotel would prosper, but those days are gone. If you want a little 3" sausage served with stale 'chips' instead of a nice burger, this is the place. The good food is gone. read more

Great Happy Hour specials! The bar is classy and inexpensive, there are pool tables around the bar for free fun and entertainment, the waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating and the tv was huge and the HD picture was excellent. Great bar! read more

I was staying at the hotel during Super Bowl weekend and my friend and I had some down time saturday around noon so we decided to check out Sangria's. We arrived right when they opened so it was empty. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks each (some of their speciality drinks and some of our own favorites). The bartender was very nice and accommodating with some of our unusual drink requests. We ordered a few small apps to share and they all tasted pretty good. They have pool tables as well as nice couches and tables all around the restaurant. We did come back after the game on Sunday night but it was packed and just hit 11pm when they stop food service. We sat down once we could find a couple leaving and we had a sangria each. I thought the sangria was good but not the best I have had. read more

Was really excited. I heard they had a nice, fresh cocktail menu and good sangria. But... I guess someone worth a ***t wasn't there to put it together. First thing- I asked for a cocktail menu and the bartenders face instantly turned... I asked what was recommended. They told me we don't sell these very often, so I don't know. I order a drink off the menu. The bartender fumbles around with it, acts like they have to rebuild a nuclear bomb and then proceed to give me a drink that was not made right. I could tell it was not made as it was supposed to be because it only had 4 ingredients.... Basic ingredients.... Tequila, maraschino, bitters and ice-how can you f that up. She did-. Royally. I thought, maybe i should of ordered a Sangria- No i saw here making one... cheap liquor and juice from a gun. no thank you. Come on, basic fair. She acted like she didn't know what she was doing. I haven't tended in years and I could of killed that drink compared to how she made it. The best is when I overheard the bartender and server talking about the head bartender I guess and how they made the menu. Well I wish he/she was here because the menu looks great. I guess they dont train on new menus, or they just dont care. the menu looks Well thought out and simple. Maybe I would have a different experience if he/she was here. But..... Sorry to say I am not coming back to try them out. I will go to Mabel's, Citizen, or blue hound for a cocktail because their bartenders aren't just there to take up space and the bosses money. If I was running this lounge... I would clear out the talentless sad faces you have and go get some people who want to please. Go recruit someone at Cocktail week... Lots of talent there. read more
