Their signature pork and chive pancake

The food is best at medicore. Nothing special about the signature chive and pork dumplings..its kindandry. Pistachio french toast is dry. The best is the meat cheese pancake or quesdilla. Will return and try other stuff.

I usually swing by after a visit to Hong Kong supermarket and I can always count on them to make me full the way I like to be full: satisfied but not heavy. My usual order is some combination of pan-fried dumplings, their braised pork rice bowl, popcorn chicken, a vegetable side dish, and a tea drink. I'm a sucker for their pork and yellow chive dumplings but the pork and kimchi ones are a close second. The popcorn chicken is definitely something I'd share. I'm not sure if they offer a dipping sauce but I haven't asked. The music isn't too loud and they've got plenty of seating (some with outlets). You can order with a cashier or their tablet and they'll walk over the food to you. Frozen dumplings are also available.

2 stars: 1 for the very kind server and 1 for the cheap prices. The food itself was a complete disappointment and not authentic Taiwanese at all. Braised pork rice (Lu rou fan)- The taste of the sauce and the texture of the pork was all wrong Beef noodle soup- The noodles were ok but the cut of meat that they prepare this dish with is different from what's traditionally used Popcorn chicken- Came out hot and crispy but other than salty, there was no other discernible flavor Signature pork and yellow chive dumplings- A complete disaster...They came out half boiled half pan fried so they were crispy on one side and wet on the other... Aside from the disappointing food, the dining environment was also abysmal. Tables were dirty and the floor was wet. I will not be returning.

Hong Kong-style café with standout potstickers The name reads Taiwanese. The menu leans Hong Kong - ju lu, mango ice, that familiar cha chaan teng universe. And then there are the potstickers, unapologetically Chinese. Put together, it sounds confusing. Somehow, it works. The potstickers are the reason to come. Properly pan-fried, crisp on the bottom, piping hot, and aromatic. The fillings--pork and shrimp - have structure and balance, not just juice for show. They arrive hot, hold their shape, and finish clean. There's a photo inside calling these the best potstickers in New York City. I didn't expect that either - but after eating them, I understand why someone would say it. - Dr. C Only writing for what truly earns the stars.

Walk past Sanmiwago quite a bit, but typically on my way to/from dinner plans so I hadn't gotten to try it until recently! I was a little pekish on my way home so I stopped by to grab some food to go. I ordered their signature pork dumplings and chive, which were solid but not my favorite pork&chive dumplings in the city. The crab Rangoon was reasonably priced as well ($6.50) so I decided to get an order of those too - the filling was sweeter than I'm used to with crab Rangoon, and didn't have the most filling. Don't think I'd get them from here again but glad I tried them! Food was fresh yet prepared quickly which I appreciated.

The word, "dumplings," caught my eye as I walked past Sanmiwago on the Bowery in New York City. I was running errands around Chinatown and noticed it was still open at 9pm. I was game for a late night snack as well as something for tomorrow's breakfast. As soon as you walk in there are two self-service kiosks and an ordering counter. This eatery has a large menu. According to the menu and the signage, Sanmiwago was rated one of the "top inexpensive restaurants in New York City" by the NY Times a few years ago. In fact, the prices were pretty good. I paid about $9 for eight boiled pork and chives dumplings.I also ordered a pork chop with noodles for about $11. I'm not sure but it seemed that some prices were cheaper when ordering off the kiosk, but fyi the total also includes a tip built in. That was fine with me. Signs around the restaurant suggest that dumplings require 15 minutes to prepare. I asked for takeout I pulled up a chair and waited. The staff was nice. The eatery is simple. There are plenty of wooden tables and chairs. Practical. Not fancy. What's also nice is that it opens at 10am and stays open until 2am or 3am depending on the day of the week. It serves beverages including beer. While I was there a few couples were seated at the tables kicking back some cold ones along with their late night meals. How's the food? I brought it back and checked it out. Wow. The boiled dumplings were great! The fried pork chop and noodles were good, too. These are remarkable meals for the price. The dumplings are remarkable under any circumstance. Here's another option in the world of fun foods. I'll be back to try more of the menu.

Cuisine: 4 Service: 3 Decor: 5 Value: 7 Overall: 4 Late night restaurants in Chinatown is quite limited. This is one of the only cheap eats snack shops open around 11:00pm. Therefore, I did not have much of a choice. Even though my previous visit was a disappointment, I decided to give it one more chance. Though priced reasonably inexpensive, everything was extremely underwhelming. If you know how real Taiwanese food tastes like, then you will know what I am talking about. The food here is well below average imho. The fact that it's cheap doesn't help. Best of the items was the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, which was average at best and sets the low bar since it doesn't get any better. The Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice Bowl was swimming in a sauce, yet lacked flavor. How is that possible? Batter on the Popcorn Chicken was so thick and the meat was overcooked. Lastly, their dumplings didn't have a crispy crust at all. All food was blah. This restaurant is more like fast food with no table service. The cashier, if you want service without a smile, seems like he was half sleeping. We placed our order and basically wait for someone to call our number and hand us our food on a tray. On this night, they gave some of our food to another group accidentally and therefore we had to wait longer for part of our meal. Bottom line, food sucks, service even worse. If you want late night food around Chinatown, go elsewhere and avoid this place.

Chinatown has so many great dumpling options, and this is one of them. Tucked away in a modest food hall, this Taiwanese food stall serves a variety of fried and boiled dumplings, and adds an egg drop soup for free with a dumplings purchase. It is no frills, but tasty.

My beef rice with basil was delicious. However, I got a stomachache afterwards. Hence the three-star rating. The cashier was polite and cleaned tables once customers left. This place opens long hours from 10 am - 2 am so it's great to have a chill place to sit down and chat whenever you want.

This place was OK. I have had veggie dumplings all around and nothing hit the spot. This place had good service, vibe was mott street food court, laid back, dumplings came with scallion and chili oil. Taste was OK.

Good. Little bit of a wait time. Crunchy. Big dumplings. $9 for 8. Filling. Plenty of seating.

I got the shrimp & beef rice rolls & my girlfriend got the taro & pork/ scallion fried dumplings

the rice rolls were amazing 10/10 and she loved her dumplings. very kind people. One of the workers explained to me their upcoming dessert menu coming in summer!! very clean place as well

Chinatown is not what it use to be and it's sad. Stumbled upon this one and only place that was opened till 2am in the area. It's great if you want a little midnight snack. Order at the kiosk, grab your receipt and have a seat. Wait for your number to be called. As mentioned in prior comments, service is slow (even at 12:30am). Maybe because the foods made to order. Got the fried dumpling & popcorn chicken combo that comes with a drink. The dumplings could have been fried a little longer, seemed like it was steamed more than pan fried. If you don't like hot sauce, let them know in advance. Apparantly they serve it with the hot sauce on top of the dumplings. Would be better if they offered milk tea in addition to their limited drink menu.

This location is accessible via A train at 42nd Street Port Authority. Upon arriving there was a woman in front of me arguing with the staff persistently haggling the price to be lowered, but to no avail. Woman, no means no! There are other bubble tea businesses within the locale that may appease your needs, but not this particular Gong Cha whom apologized for the inconvenience of the inability to lower the price on the product ordered. As I waited patiently, I took photos of this business' environment. The staff stated the cash register is not working and currently unable to accept either credit or debit cards, but cash only payments. Ergo, I was unable to obtain a sales receipt nor a drink label printed. I wonder if the staff reboot the register or check their internet connection to be offline as the cause of non-functioning O/O/O. [1] Customer service is average. Well... if the staff can lower the price for one customer why not lower it for ALL customers? Surely, why not make my drink order as inclusion for lowering the price, please? Hell no, of course not! The conclusion was ironclad. In the real world, this cannot happen. As I stood on line waiting for this woman to let go and walk away from her argument I had shrunk to my own gnawing thoughts. I took photos of the atmospheric environment. There is a cute signage: "Bubble tea where refreshment meets creativity." The pink metal water bottle is very adorably cute which is something that I would certainly purchase. Peach green tea, medium $7.25 My favorite default topping grass jelly (aka herbal jelly) loeng4 fan2 涼粉 is my standard request for $0.75 which was good, but not served chilled. At 30% sugar level request, it was slightly higher in sugar content. Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg would shake his head at me in disbelief with disapproval and disappointment for consuming this excessively sugary drink. The peach green tea was not the cause of the sweetness but a man-made sugar embed measurement error. Nevertheless, this Gong Cha satisfied my bubble tea fix as it is now my addiction - in addition to my other addiction, writing. [1] O/O/O = Out Of Order

The sound speakers is boisterously loud blasting music directly at my face by the ordering counter. The cashier associate was 90% inaudible of her customer service questions due to the boisterously loud blasting music as I had to fight loud vs. loud by blurting loudly several times: "WHAT?" Why would a business intentionally place sound speakers in front of a ordering counter station where customers must communicate their food/drink orders? How can customers place their drinks orders with clear specific description/instructions only for the cashier associate to inadvertently obfuscate by misinformation because the message conveyed was utterly misinterpreted? Communication is vital for ordering and order fulfillment accuracy in the food service industry! The cardboard paper straws available are environmentally sustainable friendly for biodegradable and compostable. However, these cardboard straws taste AWFULl!!
