Located in Chinatown, this provides a cheap set of eats between dumplings noodles and skewers at a low price. There are tons of options for you to enjoy at a very low cost. We arrived here on a Saturday afternoon, and there was a decent amount of tables. They also have more tables for groups of 1-2 seating near the back. There are tablets in the front to order your meal. The nice thing about places like this is if you are with someone there are a large amount of small platters that you can share and enjoy together. We chose to dine in and staff was very nice and brought us out water. Our food came out in spurts but in total about 10-15 mins. There are a variety of sauces at each table and if you are ordering to go there are several little containers for you to fill up to order to go. I ordered a few things. For one the lamb skewers (although a bit more pricey than some place like chubby skewers) was fantastic. The soup dumplings were also quite solid the only issue is that it took a bit of time to come out. My absolute favorite was the fried pork and cheese dumplings. As a big fan of melted cheese, this might be some of my favorite cheap dumpling meals in NYC. Truly great value, and this is a great place to bring someone and try lots of small dishes. Went on a Friday night around 6:15/6:30PM during a storm. Surprisingly the restaurant was pretty full aside from about two tables. We were sat in one of those as a party of 4. The food was pretty good, and the food came out pretty quick. I liked the lamb skewers and the broth in the noodle soup was light, but still flavorful. It actually tastes like they use bone broth rather than MSG (nothing wrong with using MSG). It says they have waffle fries but, it's actually just regular fries (they do cut from the potato instead using frozen fries). The chicken wings were juicy, crunchy, and well seasoned. The service was okay, it is a relatively small restaurant but I do think they could use 1 or 2 more waiters/waitresses. Beware, if the waiter does not take your dishes to be cleaned, you will need to take it to the back and separate trash (wet and dry) and bowls. I would go back to try the dumplings as those are some kf the recommended items on the menu. read more

Bao Noodle House on the Bowery is around the corner from where I used to live and my sister & I stopped in to pick up lunch while visiting our other sister. The place is very new and modern as are many newly opened restaurants on this block and around the neighborhood that cater to the current generation of young customers. The food is very modern Hong Kong style with many dumpling & noodle dishes. When we walk in, we are faced with the ordering touchscreen on which I was about to order, but my sister is old school and goes straight to the register and orders in person. We each get a combo meal to go, a noodle bowl plus a side dish. For me, I get the Beef Noodle Soup and Popcorn Chicken. My sis got the Shrimp Noodle Bowl with Fried Chicken Wings. I like that each takeout noodle bowl has an insert that keeps the proteins above the noodle soup, so that it doesn't get soggy when you get it home. Each bowl also comes with a fried egg, which is a nice, unexpected touch. The soup bowls are pretty good for lunch and we shared the sides, but we still had leftovers. While we were waiting for our food, 2 groups come in and ordered their food from the touchscreen. It was funny because the Indian family that came in first ordered a whole ton of food. The next group of 20-somethings had just come from playing basketball in the park and I expected them to order even more food, but only got like small dishes of dumplings, appetizers or just a drink. Great spot for cheap eats. You can order a nice bowl of noodle soup or get a combo meal for under $15 and walk away satisfied, which is super rare these days in this economy. Some of the highlights for my includes a very unhealthy Fried Meat Patty ($7) (but it's sooo good), Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($15), and Special Wonton Soup ($6). Heard about the grand opening specials & went to check it out. It is only available yesterday and today. Each customer is allowed to buy a big dumpling for $1 or beef noodle soup for $5. Only one choice. The usual price for the dumpling is $3 and the noodle soup is usually $14.95. There was a line but moved quickly. I ordered the $5 beef noodle soup, steamed chive dumplings and peanut noodles. There was a short wait as I got it for takeout. The staff packing orders made sure people got their orders. There is a decent amount of seating and 2 clean bathrooms in the back. They packed the orders well. The $5 noodle soup was a good deal. Nice touch with the egg. The steamed chive dumplings were good too. Peanut noodles were a bit bland. Definitely have to go back when the grand opening settles down. We ordered several different dishes so we could try a variety of things, and overall everything was really good. The standout by far was the pan-fried dumplings with cheese... every single bite somehow tasted better than the last. I also ordered the soft noodles with peanut butter sauce, which were flavorful and very satisfying. The braised noodle soup was pretty good as well, and you could really tell from every dish that the noodles are made fresh. We also tried the wonton soup, which was solid, although I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the broth (not much flavor). Came here and tried the two noodle special that was happening and the $1 bao. Everything only tasted so so. The meats in the noodles were not great. The meat tasted unseasoned and the texture wasn't great. One bowl of noodles had more noodles than the other. The soup base was alright I guess. The fried pork was not bad but had way too much fatty pieces. The bao was juicy I guess but the overall flavor was only so so also. Even with the special combo pricing, I felt like based on the flavor or the food, it was overpriced. This is a self service place so technically there's no need to tip, and I think my friend saw that upon entering, but there was still a tip request on the receipt. My coworker and I both ordered their noodles and were pretty disappointed. The noodle itself was nothing special nor bad but the soup was super bland. It did not taste like anything. The best part of the whole meal was the egg... I am not a cook but I feel like I could make a better tasting noodle dish at home by myself. Starting a business is hard and when you advertise a $1 "Big Bun" to draw in new customers, it better delivers. After a few minutes, the bun was handed to me in a box container in a plastic bag with no napkins. The box container was appreciated but that was where ownership could cut costs in packaging and focus more on delivering a good bun instead. The Big Bun was not what I'd typically call one in my traditional Cantonese upbringing as in a pork bun with egg and Chinese sausage. Instead it was simply minced meat; no green onions as advertised or anything else to cut through the richness of it. March 23, 2026 mud afternoon...take out order which travel to Brooklyn and was still HoT. Combo of Shrimp Dumpling and Bone Soup. Shrimp dumplings were nuce and crispy on the bottom soft and juicy on top and inside...amazing first bite without dipping sauce. With dipping sauce they are incredible. Noodles tossed with Peanut Sauce and Bone Soup. Soup had corn and other veggies and was still hot with a 30 minute train ride. Noodles were crazy good with just enough flavor and sauce to coat. Big Bun was a nice size, very meaty and juicey. Food is delicious and freshly made to order. Staff is super friendly and helpful with ordering. My order was to go and the lady packed it so nothing toppled over or leaked and she included eating utensils and any dipping sauces. I think they said they were only open 3 weeks and today they were giving out samples of their cheese dumpling( not a piece but a whole dumpling.
