I had been wanting to come here and I heard how fabulous it was so what better thing to do than book a reservation for my birthday brunch. The staff were absolutely wonderful via phone and email addressing my questions and concerns. Upon arrival I was astonished at how cute this place was. The outside hostess directed me to the inside host. I immediately saw some of my guest at a lovely long table set up in the back center. Our attentive waiter came over to bring us menus. Unfortunately most of my guests got caught up in the torrential downpour and were running behind. The waiter assured me that we were quite alright to wait if we preferred. I decided to start with a cocktail. The testa Rossa was recommended. I ended up giving it to my husband as it was rather strong and I did not taste watermelon nor coconut. I went with the second recommendation of the strawberry bliss. Another strong drink which the gin overpowered the other flavors. I may skip the cocktails if I come back as I did not fancy either of the ones I tasted. I tried some of Lisa's sunflower seed toast which came with the cutest set up of butter and delicious apricot and strawberry jam. For my lunch I decided on the Cacio de Pepe which was cheesily delicious and transported me back to Rome. Now for the star of the show, the Principessa which was probably the best cakes I've ever had. Each bite is so light with subtle lemon, vanilla and whipped cream, it practically melts in your mouth. I washed down the cake with a cappuccino Viennese. On my way out I took the time to walk over to the dessert and pastries counter where I spied my next selection for my next visit. Went for dinner this Thursday, to finally try the food here and listen to some live jazz music! Was able to snag a seat at the bar, which was perfect since the jazz was closer than in the dining room. Had a couple glasses of red wine- since ordering a bottle was out of the question because they were SO expensive. We ordered the San Danielle pizza (prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula), and the lobster pasta. The pizza was more of a flatbread, VERY thin and airy crust. Order as an APP, not an entree. The lobster pasta had "homemade shells"- they tasted no different from a box pasta- and the pasta itself was VERY fishy. I only ate half and had a stomachache after. Took my niece to Sant Ambroseus for a celebration. It's a lovely restaurant with beautiful inside seating and decor and you can sit outside as well. The first thing that struck me about this place was how exorbitantly expensive everything was --from the appetizers to the salads and entrees. I mean, the salads were $35 for a small salad. I had the beet and avocado salad at $35 and while it was very good the portion did not justify the $35 price tag. Even in the most upscale restaurants worldwide I have never seen a small salad at this price point. My niece had the Caesar salad and she said she enjoyed it. Same small salad for $35. We both had the salmon and it was very good. It comes over lentil salad, and my niece who is allergic to lentils asked if she could have something else instead and the waiter said no. No substitutions. So she just got a piece of salmon. Took a star off for this. They could have given her French fries for this very expensive entree. The bread they bring out is a couple of slices of cold bread with whipped butter. Again for the prices they charge here they should be bringing out a bread basket of warm bread. Our server was OK but not outstanding. The lady who fills the water barely did and when she did one time it was grudgingly. So this is a mixed review because the food was good and enjoyable. But dinner for two with one cocktail and no dessert came to almost $300 before the tip. That is pretty outrageous. Not sure if I will return because there's a big choice of restaurants in Palm Beach County that I would take guests to where at least for $300 you might feed four people. Took a star off for this seriously greedy restaurant. This restaurant would have gotten five stars if the entrées and salads and appetizer were half the price that they are now. And if they had given my niece some side because she told him she was allergic to lentils. This is a restaurant that will not really try that hard because they're already on the hotspots to try in Palm Beach. It's a shame really. Wow, what a beautiful restaurant in Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach. It's a nice touch that there's complimentary valet parking right out front. I made a reservation here on a Friday night for 7:45 PM with my friend and we sat inside. There's such a lovely ambience when you enter the restaurant because the decor is beautiful. We started off with a couple of cocktails and we ordered the avocado beet salad, which was 10 out of 10. We split the truffle pasta and ordered the Wagyu cooked medium. The service was absolutely fantastic. Carmita was our server and she was so kind and accommodating. The food tasted so fresh and the truffle was something to be remembered. Has lunch outdoors on a Sunday. The outdoor area is very nice and has a nice fan so it doesn't get that hot. Service was prompt, not the friendliest, but prompt and respectful. Food here is pricey... but then again, prices expected for the area. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of everything. The chicken panini felt very fresh and well done without feeling heavy or greasy. Even the mountain of French fries wasn't as greasy as you'd expect. The pizza was extremely light. I loved that they didn't hold back on the prosciutto. However, because this has burrata and the dough is more of a pita bread than a traditional pizza, it gets quite mushy by the middle instead of being toasty all around. If they can get the middle part to be as crispy/toasty as the rest this would be golden. The fettuccine were cooked well and the ragú was special. Someone you'd ask bread to make sure you get every last bit of it. The hazelnut gelato was outstanding. Creamy, little chunks of hazelnuts here and there. Rich with the espresso over it. I came in just for the gelato! You can get it to go without needing to get a table inside their actual restaurant. Hands down the best Hazelnut and Pistachio gelato I've ever tasted! Both have real nuts mixed inside the gelato as well. Overall 10/10 recommend for these 2 flavors. Be prepared to lay down some coin, but there is nothing on the menu that isn't delicious. My favorites include the cacio e pepe with fresh pasta, the watermelon salad, and whatever the chef's daily soup. Everything is always fresh and you can taste the quality of the ingredients. At our most recent visit, it was a yellow squash bisque with basil that was absolutely sublime. The service is 10/10 attentive, the restaurant is beautiful, and have I mentioned the food? I have dined at Sant Ambroeus Palm Beach many times, but after this experience, I will never return. Five minutes before the incident, the table in the bar area was clearly first come, first serve. I was standing nearby and informed the staff that I was waiting for it to be cleaned. Shortly after, a white couple also inquired about the same table. Instead of honoring the first come, first serve understanding, the manager abruptly placed a "Reserved" sign on the table. When I calmly explained to the hostess and the manager that I had been waiting for the table to be cleaned, the manager was extremely unprofessional and did not allow me to speak. He dismissively stated that because it was Valentine's Day, it was busy. Busy or not, professionalism and fairness should always be maintained. The day does not excuse poor treatment or a lack of respect toward guests. As someone who has supported this restaurant on multiple occasions, I was shocked and disappointed by how I was spoken to. The tone was dismissive, tacky, and completely inappropriate for someone in a management position. I will not spend another dollar here, and I will be sharing my experience with others. Another NYC outpost--BTW, I've noticed almost all the outpost restaurants here in SoFla are more expensive than at their original locations in NYC. (It's not just a "Palm Beach thing"). A bowl of pasta, glass of wine, and dessert came to $100 with tip. (Margherita pizza runs $31). The fettuccine bolognese was pretty good and a healthy serving, ditto for the ricotta cheesecake. Not going to lie and tell you it was fantastic or the best I've had but it was acceptable/good (and a bit pricey; guess customers are paying for the decor). I happened to be in the area and decided to give the restaurant a shot but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to return.
