Came in for happy hour and was blown away by the friendly and attentive service. We came in during COVID and the restaurant had blocked off booths and tables in between diners so we felt very safe. First off the drinks: I LOVED the margaritas especially the prickly pear one! Many flavors to choose from like mango, pomegranate and others. The Moscow mule and mojitos were very good too. Food: Great portions and absolutely worth half off prices during happy hour. My favorite was the campechana, very nice and acidic and seafood felt very fresh. I would pass on the cazuela though, the mole sauce was not the most flavorful and the chicken was rather dry. All the other apps like the guac and the sopes were very good. This review is about 6 months old! Stopped here after reading the Yelp reviews. I started with an amazing glass of Zinfandel Earthquake- Lodi 2015 (and I wish I knew where to purchase it!) I'd love to tell you what we ate, but it looks like their menu has changed. My food wasn't what I expected and I let my waitress know. She sent the manager (owner?) over and he was very apologetic and removed my meal from the check. I will definitely give this establishment a second visit! read more

This place was recommended by a friend and is seriously yummy. Great service and a nice atmosphere. Unlike some restaurants, I could actually talk to my dinner companion at a normal volume. We shared the nachos, which were delicious. Just the right amount of spice. I felt it but it wasn't painful. My husband had the steak & shrimp fajitas and I had enchiladas and a margarita. Everything was delicious and spiced perfectly. Their free chips are nothing to write home about but the salsa they serve with it is the bomb! We went based on the recommendation of a restaurant owner who I KNOW knows his food stuff. He was right about this one. I researched Yelp and asked for the verde salsa (warm) and the creamy jalapeño sauce to go with the red sauce (outstanding!). The waiter was so apologetic saying he had to charge a dollar for the creamy jalapeño. All salsas were wonderful, but be warned...creamy jalapeño has a major bite. We split the Napalitos with shrimp salad...so incredibly fresh and full of flavors. Shrimp cooked perfectly...yummy grilled cactus. And the cilantro vinaigrette was so good we asked for an extra side for the rest of our meal. Boyfriend had the Carmones Veracruzana and it was exceptional. Huge shrimp, again, perfect and not over cooked. Lots of flavors with the olives, tomatoes and capers. He drizzled it with the cilantro vinaigrette, too. I had the De Moriscos (roasted poblano stuffed with shrimp, drum, sauce, cheese, and sour cream). My eyes partially rolled back in my head. It was on par with the rellenos I've had at Fonda San Miguel. Flavors were out of this world. Perfectly cooked from fish to shrimp to the roast on the pepper. Service was wonderful, but I will say it was not super busy. This will definitely be added to our rotating list. Added plus...The Dig Pub was right down the street and we stopped for a dessert beer. read more

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants around. I love how fresh everything is every time I've been here. The Ensalada Yucteca is by far one of my favorite all time dishes. This is a huge salad filled with achiote marinated chicken breast- always tender and filled with flavor, lettuce, cheese, avocado, rice, black beans, cabbage...I think, and other stuff. You could easily share with someone! Last time I went i decided to do exactly that and order a cup of their "signature" tortilla soup. I was a little skeptical of just how good the soup was going to be, and honestly I have no clue why. None of my friends have ever had a bad experience here. Like NEVER.... Well the tortilla soup was probably the BEST I have ever tried... like in my life! It really... really... really was that good. I wished I would have ordered a bowl! And another restaurant opened in the old Hemingway's location, so we opted to try it for Happy Hour. I was a little apprehensive because its cuisine was Mexican. I'm not a Mexican food fan. We arrive at 5:45PM in time for Happy Hour. Seated promptly in a nice booth. We started with a Dirty martini and Mexican martini. Sticking to the HH Appetizers, we selected Cazuela Con Polla, Ceviche, and Sopes. The drinks were strong which is a good thing. First served was the Ceviche, it came in a martini glass and looked inviting. You could taste the lime without it being overpowering. Both of us enjoyed the small portion very much. Next two apps were delivered. The sopas were not what we were expecting but they also were tasty. The sopas were a Masa patty covered with chicken and black beans and some vegetables. The Cazuela came in a small fry pan. It was chicken in mole sauce and melted cheese on top. It came with fresh tortilla which we made little tacos out of. Seriously good. Everyone knows you can't complete a meal without dessert. We choose the Torta de Chocolate. I was expecting a mini chocolate tart, nope. It was like a warm chocolatey brownie. Very good and satisfying and filling. Service was polite and prompt. The Happy Hour pricing made this a very reasonably priced meal. We will be back. read more
