Best dining experience EVER! I read reviews about their pea shoot salad so I decided to order it as well as their bread with your spread. Both were amazing but the pea shoots... OMG!!! So tender and tasted like they were just in the garden minutes prior to being served! I had shrimp with couscous and my hubby had gnocchi with meatballs. Again surprised us with the flavors that just was superb!!! For dessert we only had enough room for one. Again, just delightful strawberry crepe! I must add that I asked for my cocktail to have more tartness and the bartender mad it so. It was Grey Goose vodka, Chambord and lemon twist. My friend and I shared a burger and chicken & polenta with a bottle of their rose to start. As you can see by the pic of the food, it was delightful. Our server was running all over the place (very busy) yet somehow didn't skip a bear with us. We also had spiked coffee and dessert to top it all off. I didn't realize this was on property of a retro hotel/motel as well as Yurts and a pool on property. Might be a cool place to come back to with kids. We went for dinner and the food was delicious. We had the gnocchi and the langoustine and scallop risotto - outstanding!! The dessert was ok; we got the brownie, which I typically like to be rich - this brownie wasn't that way. Depends on your preferences, I think. Either way, I would highly recommend this restaurant. I probably should have cut and run when the bartender asked me what kind of soda when I ordered a Dewars and soda. Oh well. Food: Potato and goat cheese gnocchi was a pasty mess with no detectable goat cheese, dry flavorless meatballs, and Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee grade sauce. Delicious smoked trout dip appetizer. Really fresh and tasty pea shoot salad (the replacement of my sent-back gnocchi.) Service: pretty good, actually. The wait staff seemed very good at apologizing, but the thing is, they were doing it a LOT, and not just at my table. Nice dining room, grounds, but I don't recommend unless you're stuck with no other options and the clock's running out (these FLX towns seem to be lights-out at like 8pm-ish.) read more

We were here on the last night of the season in 2021. The creative chef knows what they are doing. Had a savory roasted pumpkin soup to start and followed that with a perfectly cooked and tender beef filet with mushrooms served with potato mash with corn (both sweet and regular potatoes). My drink was mixed strong, but no complaints here. Service was timely and very friendly. The place is out of the way, but really a unique spot worth the drive in. read more

This little gem of an eatery is stowed away in a little cove just south of Dresden NY (there are actually two Dresden NYs in New York...). We wanted to venture out of Penn Yan for and were looking for something on the water since it was very un-April 72 degrees. Normally we go up to Ports (near Geneva) for our Seneca Lake spot. Sapalta has a fantastic old 1940s motel that was lovingly refurbished (you know the single story variety as well as a bunch of yurts in the back...along with a wood-burning (real wood..) fire pit with some ADK chairs right on the lake...fantastic locale. The food was quite good..smoked trout app with a pork chop. All of which is locally sourced (obviously with the seafood being nowhere near the Finger Lakes). Only bugaboo is the staff that were pushing the booze really hard as we went through the meal...and for the price point of the food, really probably could use a little polish (like bordering amateurish...millenial w/o fine dining training). A very random crowd enjoying fine dining as well (a couple of Carhartt/camo local denizens next to us who obviously like good food) . Otherwise a great hidden gem out here... it's like going into a little Snug Harbor in the FLX with some really good locally sourced grub (they do a lot more than wine out here!). read more

Wonderful- quaint location to start. Upon arrival we were graciously greeted and accommodated for our large party. Our server was Hannah- and she was amazing every step of the way- from her knowledge of specific dishes- describing the chef's vision- and being thoughtful about the kids' comfort at our table. Recommends: Crab Bisque soup was exquisite, and the Mahi Mahi was also a hit. A bottle of the Plum Sparkling Rose was also recommended- and delightful. We sat outside on the patio since we had our dog with us. They didn't mind our dog and even brought out water for her. t was a beautiful day and the view of the lake was amazing. There was also live music until 8pm, which was great. For appetizers, ordered the naan and hummus, trout salad, and the two soups of the day (lobster and crab bisque). The appetizers were all tasty, though the soups could have been presented a little more neatly (spillage at the sides) and they were definitely just heated up in a hurry as it was not very hot. The trout salad had two pieces of smoked fish on a bed of salad - pricey at $19 for the portion. For mains, we got the chicken and mahi mahi. Both were disappointing in taste and not presented in any exciting way. For almost $30 each, it was disappointing that they seemed to have been prepped in a buffet and just plated the be served. The Fish and chicken were both plain grilled with no interesting flavor. For dessert, we got the brownie and peach tart. The peach tart was served warm and was very delicious. The Brownie was um exciting. Service was slow as they are understaffed, but there was a sign at the front desk stating that this was the case, so our expectations were lowered. Overall, we paid around $150 with tip. Pricey for the food quality, but the ambience made up for it. read more

They seemed surprised that their food was tepid and argued with me about it. If this were I would have fired Trinity on the spot. Drive the 15 minutes to Penn Yan Diner for breakfast. Staying at hotel and took a gamble and tried this little spot in the hotel. This was the freshest food we had on the vacation. We started with the harvest cream soup and Caesar salad. The soup was hearty and delicious. The Caesar salad was so fresh and included farm fresh tomatoes, bacon, pickled red onions and grilled corn. They didn't skimp on the toppings and was outstanding. My husband had two of the plum-Hatton drinks which were superb. We then had the samosas and the halibut. The toppings on the halibut were fresh and tasty, but the halibut was admittedly not a great as we have had, but with all the amazing fresh flavors, we were still happy with everything. For dessert we had the brownie with frozen local custard and again, amazed at the flavors. Great little find. The view was phenomenal and the waitress Julie was so friendly and fun for our daughter. Absolutely awful! Breakfast is apparently 8-10am, we went over at 9. The service is awful (actually non-existence, the food was not ready. The prices are ridiculous, $19 for eggs bacon and sausage. A breakfast I could easily make for my family seemed to really stump their "chef". My family has been coming here for 15 years and now with the new owners they have royally screwed up everything. I guess there is a reason that no else is in the dining area. read more

We were lucky enough to stay at the Plum Point Lodge for our wedding anniversary, and ate dinner at Sapalta, and breakfast the following morning. REALLY hope all readers will give this restaurant a try, even if you don't stay at the hotel. What a CHARMING setting, gracious service, DELICIOUS food, and all very reasonably priced given the lakeside dining, local ingredients, that every EVERYTHING is homemade, in-house. For dinner, we started with two of their plum cocktails, followed by a cheese and bread platter featuring local cheeses and house-made breads; then shared the Pizz-Sapalta and the pork chop featuring plum glaze and cab franc applesauce. We'd been hiking in the nearby parks, so felt righteous in indulging! :) Even so, the portions were abundant enough to have lunch the next day of left-over pizza and bread and cheese -- so it was REALLY a good deal considering we got 4 portions out of the dinner. Breakfast the next day was fruit and granola; endless coffee; and toast from house-made walnut bread, with house-made ricotta and more of the cab franc applesauce. Every, *every*thing we ate was lip-smacking good -- you really could taste the love. The chefs are doing a GREAT job! And the restaurant has done a wonderful job in the pandemic -- tables outside in the breezy lakeside environment, touch-free menus with the QR code scanning using your phone's camera, masked and distant servers. Was wonderful that they provided all of this during strained uncertain times. We loved our stay in the hotel -- made ALL the better by having such a great restaurant! read more

Glad my fellow Yelpers pointed this place out. Plums and more plums-you guessed it - everything had a plum theme. The plum jam and bread appetizer-yum! The plum-gin-lemonade-wow! The entrees- from maki mahi and risotto, to the seared chicken breast-OMG! Then the finale- plum/apple turnover and salted caramel custard. Farm to table to the max! Horrible. The restaurant changed ownership and the food is not what it was. Salad is no longer micro greens and very average . The Morroccon shrimp dish was undercooked and despite them saying they were bringing back a favorite, it was nothing like it and not a Morroccan dish. It was instead served over a soggy risotto by a chef that clearly doesn't know how to make risotto on top of the poor pairing. I sent the item back and despite not eating any of the food and the manager refused to come out to speak with or comp any of the meal. The bread was soggy (at$18) and not fresh on top of being grossly overpriced!! There are so many great places in the finger lakes and Geneva that you should save your money and go elsewhere. To be served inedible food and then insulted sets a new precedent for poor service. for example, when asked to speak to a manger, a busboy was sent out and advised that it was "food waste" and thus the manager would not comp the meal. after waiting 10 more minutes for the manager who clearly wasn't going to speak to me, we paid and left. additionally, the table next to us didn't have a server come out for over 15 minutes and requested service of three different waitresses. the Decoy just down the road is better reputed. read more

Sapalta is a beautiful place and I loved the ambiance. However, I did make a mistake though in ordering the NY Strip Caesar Salad. The presentation was very unattractive The salad was topped with large cold chucks of steak that were difficult to cut and eat. The greens were overdressed but tasted ok (no croutons) but the flower petals were an interesting touch. This was a confusing dish. The best part of the meal was my Rose Sangria and the bread. Will go again but maybe just for drinks and a cheese board. Server was very pleasant and attentive. read more

I was so looking forward to dining here. Beautiful setting on a beautiful summer evening. That and Amanda, our server, are the only reasons I give it two stars. I was so disappointed with our meal. The salad was absolutely delicious. Hummus appetizer was bland and naan was burnt. The tenderloin was the tiniest I've ever seen for an entree in this price range. It was nothing special, bland flavor and again burnt taste. I hate to say what the polenta tasted like. Can't figure out how it was seasoned. Horrible. My mahi-mahi was very strong and had little flavor. Thank goodness for the lemon. The vegetable risotto was swimming in a tasteless cream sauce so picked the veggies out. I'm not one to ever comment on a meal but this one was so bad that I felt compelled. A waste of 150 bucks. Will never return. read more

Great date night dinner. All staff members were beyond friendly. We got there a few minutes early and were directed to the bar while our table was prepared, which was ready almost immediately. What an amazing restaurant. We came , we saw and we ate probably the best meal while on vacation. Our sever,Kristen, was spot on. We were a party of seven adults and one child and Kristen didn't miss a heart beat. She was attentive to all of us, even my grandson was taken care of !! When the appetizers were delicious I sort of get excited for dinner. We started with the soup (tomato), bread and butter jam and quesadilla. All mouth watering. As for dinner. WOW !!!! Gnocchi , pork chops , portobello mushroom , mahi-mahi, burger. Every dish was awesome. Also take my advice you need to have the deserts. Lavender ice cream and a double chocolate brownie.
