We sat on the patio which was fine, just a little loud from the surrounding restaurants. Service was great as always. The sushi pieces are a bit smaller than what I'm used to, but the fish quality was really good. We ordered the shumai (great flavor, just wish it had come out hotter), shrimp yaki udon, Sushi Combo B, and my favorite, the Sunset Roll. The price point felt super fair, and what really makes this place stand out is how authentic it feels compared to other sushi spots around north Houston. This place is a fixture in Panther Creek, but we had not tried it until late last week. We got a salmon skin hand roll, spicy cucumber salad, onion soup, steak and chicken from the hibachi menu, and the unagi donburi bowl. Finished with green tea mochi ice cream. Also had green tea with the meal. I would say that the salmon skin roll was the highlight of the meal. The salmon skin was fried and made for a delightful texture in the roll. The sauce was delicious. The roll was perfectly put together and easy to eat. The spicy cucumber salad was an interesting experience. It lives up to its name, for me as an appetizer a few pieces were perfect. You get a great big bowl of it! Easily shareable for four or more people. A major contrast to the entrees--the portions were definitely for one person. The onion soup was a good representation, very nice flavor with some mushroom slices for added depth. The chicken and steak hibachi was competently done but the flavors were very basic. I would say the steak was cooked to at least medium well, though it was tender enough. Good for folks who want Japanese food but are not looking for adventure. The unagi donburi bowl was also pretty basic. Delicious unagi (it's my favorite sushi ingredient) served warm over a bowl of rice with black sesame seeds. Fried rice might have jazzed it up a bit (you can get that for a little extra). The ice cream serving was generous, you get four mochi balls (cut in two) to share at the table. The ice cream is quite good. Mochi is an acquired taste, and I haven't acquired it yet, so it's hard to be totally fair, but I believe it was done as it should be. The green tea was fine--but the cups they serve it in are not very insulated so are quite hot at first, I waited for mine to cool a bit. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with striking ceiling lights and nicely done murals. It's dark, but not too dark, at the tables. The restrooms were clean and ready. On my next trip I would probably focus on the sushi, that seems to be the strong point. They have some specialties that look good but have no prices--if you have to ask, you know...but maybe for a splurge. I would go back and bring visitors. read more

This is my second time here, both times were carry out orders. The first time with my wife and the second time with my stepdaughter. Both times the service was very good. On our first visit, my wife and I met the husband and wife owners, they were very nice and accommodating while we waited for our food. The restaurant is decorated medium upscale, the dining room was clean. The food, both times was excellent, we ordered a combination of sushi and hibachi. Everything was delicious. I don't venture up to the Woodlands much, but came here for lunch with my cousin. Parking is plentiful in the shared shopping center, but during lunchtime it may get crowded and you'll have to walk a bit. The restaurant itself has beautiful ambiance with dim lighting and colored string lights hanging from the ceiling. They were fairly busy for weekday lunchtime, but we were able to be seated in a booth immediately. They have a pretty expansive lunch menu during the week. Among these, are sushi roll combos, sushi/nigiri combos, bento boxes, and bowls. I went for the bento box so that I could try a little bit of everything. You choose your entree and it comes with a side of house salad or miso soup, steamed rice (brown or fried is an extra $1), 4 pieces of California roll, 4 pieces of chef's choice sushi, an egg roll, and a crab rangoon. Very comprehensive! For my bento box, I got the Tonkatsu, a panko-breaded pork cutlet, and opted for the house salad. The salad came out first and tasted fresh; I liked the creamy dressing that came with it. The katsu itself was a bit dry and bland, so I would suggest adding some seasoning and perhaps tenderizing it prior to cooking. Everything else was good though - the egg roll and crab rangoon were crunchy and the California roll was standard, however the chef's choice sushi tasted very fresh. Overall, the portion size was generous for $15 in this day & age. My cousin got her bento box with grilled shrimp and she thought it was very tasty. To end the meal, we got green tea ice cream for dessert. This was a good way to cleanse the palate - the ice cream had a good tea flavor and was not that sweet, which was perfect. Our server, Nicole, was super friendly. She checked on us throughout our stay and continuously refilled our waters, even after we had paid our bill. I recommend asking for her if you visit! Sapporo is a good spot for Japanese food in the Woodlands. I would love to try their izakaya, cocktails, and other offerings if I'm back in the area! read more

These guys deserve the 5 star rating for this salmon bento box. It had everything I wanted in a bento box for lunch time! Wait, would love shrimp tempura instead of the fried rangoon and spring roll but I'm satisfied with the overall quality, variety and value of food. The thorough care in packaging this to-go order was also apparent as it had all the details needed to enjoy the meal. The delivery was through Uber and it was friendly and fast. I did ask for extra ginger and light soy sauce on uber's end but that was the only part that got missed. The miso soup was still warm and had tofu with lots of wakame seaweed. Had lunch for the second time here and ordered their hand rolls! Love how they definitely do not hold back when it comes to adding fillings/toppings (as in the fish + veg). It's not too obvious in the photos but their servings are big, and everything is sooo so fresh. I also had their takoyaki, which was crisp on the outside and creamy but not too heavy inside. Service is great and the waitress was very attentive and considerate. The place is clean and spacious, and I'd say the ambiance is great for casual dinners. We used to love this restaurant, but today's experience was really disappointing. Even though the place wasn't busy, it took quite a while for someone to greet us. They took our steak order without asking for the cooking preference, and it ended up being completely raw --and the last dish to arrive, more than 10 minutes after the rest in the table. While our kids went to the restroom, we left our food and personal items at the table. When we came back, everything was gone --including my baby's teether and spoon that were inside his special meal. When they brought them back, they were dirty and covered in sauces, likely from the trash. The steak that we asked to be cooked longer finally came out at the very end, once all other plates had already been cleared. They also took away our half-full water bottle and the special sushi roll, which was much smaller than usual. It's really sad to see how much the service and care for customers have declined, especially since this used to be one of our favorite spots. read more

This is my go-to Japanese restaurant up in The Woodlands/Spring area. I typically come here to order their Tonkatsu ramen which is rich in flavor and in my opinion one of the best I've had, but during my most recent visit I had sushi and udon with my husband. Not many places serve udon around here and the few places that do are expensive or alright in flavor. Sapporos Nabeyaki Udon however is very nice, flavorful and generous in toppings. Came here for a date night and it was pretty packed in a Friday night! The wait wasn't long and the folks who work here were hustling to get customers seated and served. We tried the spider roll and the caterpillar roll. Both were very fresh and flavorful. The crab was tasty in the spider roll and it was just a little spicy and had a kick. The caterpillar roll had just enough avocado and eel! We tried the spicy miso ramen which got our sinuses going! It was packed with delicious noodles, pork, black mushrooms, soft boiled egg, and chewy noodles. The broth was rich and definitely lived up to its name. Our waitress was very attentive and gave great recommendations. We were intrigued by the house hot sake and will have to try that next time we come in! What a great neighborhood spot to grab a bite. Let's start with the service. ZERO! We placed an order online for pick up and my wife got there 5 minutes after the designated time. The restaurant was empty with 3 employees sitting at the bar. The one helping the FOUR groups of pick ups had no idea where our food was. It was an additional 12 min, totaling 38 for pick up of ramen and fried rice. FAIL Next, the food itself. It was cold, obviously right? But the shrimp in the fried rice was rotten. I mean, dry, stinky and looked like it was made earlier this week. The rice had an odd, chemical type smell to it and was extremely mushy. The ramen was oily and lacked any flavor except spicy. MEGA FAIL So, I called to speak to someone about a refund. I was offered the refund and, after expressing my disgust in the shrimp in my wife's rice, realize I'm speaking to the manager. He was polite but couldn't care less that the food leaving his establishment was not only subpar, but, would likely give someone food poisoning. FAIL This place should either close, or, completely re staff your kitchen and management and save those unknowing from utter disappointment and illness. read more

The nice thing is that they had a happy hour special deal even on the weekends. Our server was really nice and provided great customer service. The ramen hit the spot. WOW! What a great Japanese restaurant! This restaurant really exceeded all my expectations on all points including food, service, price and dining atmosphere! I was really pleased with the delicious and generous amount of food received when we ordered teriyaki chicken bento boxes for dinners (which I very highly would recommend getting)! Sapporo has a very wide variety of items to choose from on their menu but being that it was my first time here, I went with the chicken teriyaki bento box, which provided a sampling of their food items. For a little or less than $19 for this teriyaki bento box you get: choice of a starter salad or soup, a large portion of fried rice, teriyaki chicken, 4 California spring rolls, 2 tempura fried shrimp, large portion of tempura fried vegetables, and chef's choice of 4 pieces of sushi. The fried rice is delicious and not too salty, all of the sushi is fresh made and with really fresh ingredients, the teriyaki chicken is one small breast that's been grilled and laced with teriyaki sauce. All of the tempura was delicious and not greasy/oily. In regards to service, we were greeted by a friendly host and seated rather quickly. Our meal was served by a very courteous and attentive waitress. I loved coming here because they made us feel very welcome! Overall I would give this place three thumbs up (if I had another hand)!
